This tutorial has a close up look at the B flat straight soprano sax, including the range, fingering and design of the horn. Famous recorded soprano sax solos are referred to including Tom Scott's solo on 'Listen to What the Man Said', from Paul McCartney and Wings 1975 recording, and Branford Marsalis's solo on Sting's 1987 classic 'An Englishman in New York'.
The transposing nature of the B flat horn is demonstrated and discussed with the aid of an electronic tuner.
The tutorial closes with a multi-tracked version of a famous Christmas Carol played on soprano sax in a jazz style.
