At this point, I think pretty much everyone knows about Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. It has recently surpassed Mario Kart Wii in sales and the game is continuing to dominate both the Switch and Wii U charts. The selection of tracks is also one of the best in the series, with some iconic new ones such as Sunshine Airport and Mount Wario with some fan favourites returning like Tick-Tock Clock and N64 Rainbow Road. However, there are still some very interesting facts and easter eggs that are unknown to almost all players. In this video, we’ll be covering an Obscure Fact About Each Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

The dolphin shoals one. Technically, Tour is MK9, and there is one water start line... on Singapore Speedway R/T. It's above the water though, so it doesn't count. Also, in the Big Reverse Races, I think you start underwater on Cheep Cheep Lagoon. (But that's not a start line.)

there's another neat little detail to the fact at 11:58-i'm not sure if you didn't know this or just forgot to mention it, but the reason that yoshi specifically sings totaka's song is because kazumi totaka is also the voice actor for yoshi! i think that makes it one of the coolest versions of his song, even if it's not as iconic as others that are harder to find. as many composers as there have been across the mario series, i can't think of any others who got to sing their own song in a game like this

Fun fact, in tbe German version, there's one other course with a 1 word name. And that one happens to be Music Park. It's called Instrumentalpiste. Electrodrome is Diskodrom. So it stays a 1 word name

So, something notable about Cloudtop Cruise is that its music has a section that is a remix of Gusty Garden Galaxy, plus that it has two themes, one for the normal cloud sections and one for the one where there are electric clouds, which also happens in other tracks in the game like Water Park, Dolphin Shoals and Super Bell Subway. Also, it Japanese name is the exact same one than of Sky Garden. So now with the Booster Course Pass those two tracks are in the same game, and the only thing that differences their names in Japanese is the GBA prefix on the latter. Other thing about GBA Mario Circuit is that the music in 8 is a remix of the beta music of the course, not the final one. There is footage of a beta version of Mario Kart Super Circuit/Advance and in there the music of Mario Circuit has a difference in the melody than the one in the final game. Here's another Mount Wario fact. The rocks that have boost panels are the same thing from Sky High Sundae's ice cream cone that you glide through.

10:00 There is actually another track that had a similar jump in cup position. SNES Mario Circuit 3 was a Flower Cup Track in Super Mario Kart, but was moved all the way to the Lightning Cup in Mario Kart Wii. It is the biggest track jump towards higher difficulties, while Donut Plains 3 is the biggest track jump to lower difficulty. A case could also be made for GBA Sky Garden being moved from the Lightning Cup (in SMK it would have been a Flower Cup track), to… the Lightning Cup in MKDS.

The date on the Shy Guy Metals sign is also symbolic, since Shy Guys have been in the Mario series since 1987, with Doki Doki Panic. There's a bit of Gusty Garden Galaxy tucked within the Cloudtop Cruise soundtrack. Piranha Plant Slide is also known as Piranha Plant Pipeway, which sounds a bit nicer given the theme. Only finding this video now this is so interesting to me that in sunshine airport, you can hear the PA system, announcing for birdo to head to the information council and how there are no birdos in the crowds in the game and now with the booster course DLC we got birdo as a playable character this is probably just a coincidence, but I’d like to think they would do this on purpose lol

About Electrodrome and 1-word-name tracks: In French, the name of the track is Club Mario But there are 3 tracks of which French name is only one word : Champiville (Mushroom City), Koopapolis (Neo Bowser City) and Champidrome (Mario Kart Stadium)

Pretty sure Mario Circuit is actually supposed to look like an 8 when viewed at a certain angle, same goes for rainbow road which has 3 different 8s when viewed from a certain angle. The track layout in Wario Stadium is a bit different to the original one on the DS. And the train (the locomotive and carriages) share the same basis with Thomas, Annie and Clarabel from Thomas & Friends

For DK Jungle, I believe Grumble Volcano is also the same, although there may be a subtle difference that I was unaware of. For Wario Stadium, you can also hit the goalpost on Water Park, Toad's Turnpike, Tick-Tock Clock, and maybe N64 Rainbow Road and Cheese Land although I'd have to test those ones out. (Shroom Ridge wasn't out when he made this video, so it doesn't count either)
