I remember Foot Locker or somebody did a big special during a Phoenix Suns game back in 1995 where they had chosen this teenager, got Dan Majerle to train him, and let him shoot one three pointer for a million bucks. He frickin air balled it, and it was the most depressing thing you've ever seen. Clearly, the money was too big and the shot too makeable. These people got it right: OK money (not astronomical) for a shot that nobody really expects you to make. He misses, everybody still walks away feeling good. That poor kid in 95 practiced for a week--it was super serious.
