An Ominously Beautiful Blue Ice Glacier Hike at Nigardsbreen in Norway!

In this video we do the short blue ice hike at Nigardsbreen in Norway. There are options for longer or shorter hikes, but we found the four hour round trip to be just right. You get time in a blue ice tunnel, and the highlight of the day for us was a large archway at the base of the ice where the water that is melting runs down the mountain and is spat out under the ice at the base.
Nigardsbreen is Europe’s largest glacier and it is slowly disappearing. So we recommend you visit as soon as you can!!

What time of year did you visit? I am curious because we want to do the tour. I really want to see the ice caves but someone said they only do those in winter for safety reasons.

This was in the middle of summer. I assume there are better caves in Winter but I have done a similar thing in Iceland in the middle of summer and it was just fine.
