Newest congratulations on your now achievement in your adopted country of residence. You have made your choice. So too have others like me who continue to visit the country of our birth r, annually for R& R and for some great nutritional food void of chemicals. Not forgetting the strong cultural ties that remain for some of us. We know that our country of birth is safer than many developed countries who don't have the resources that zGuyana has. I pray that God change the heart and mind of the young Guyanese politicians now emerging, so Guyana will be led by a new generation of politicians blinded of race. God bless Guyana.

Wonderful tribute to our homeland. That letter reflects the feelings of all of us living abroad. They can take the man out of Guyana, but not Guyana out of the man. Thank you for putting our feelings into words.

Public comment. Thank you so much for referring on the history and expressing your views on guyana ❤..Great message to Guyanese. Exploring your resources should not be atolareted . It is sad that big companies create a negative effect by loopholes and pollution and flairing create a negative effect on guyana. Stop elegal border crossing now. Stop elegal mining and lugging in interior location. Government please look into this matter now. Thanks for sharing beautiful experience of guyana history.

Your relevant "letter", which easily could have been titled "Dear Diaspora", is all at once nostalgic, contemporary and visionary; however, I must opine that inculcating an oppressor's wisdom is not an easy task by any means since the oppressors control the keys to the requisite, tangible resources which are vital to liberation and self determination.

No matter where you come from, the home country is often seen as the mother country. There is a connection. The formative years of our lives shape who we are and how we see the world. After working at Banks DIH for a few years I left Guyana when I was in my mid to late 20s. In America, I was given many opportunities. We are talking about access to education and employment. However, what matter a lot to me is the feeling of safety. A few months ago, I visited Guyana and I can't tell you how many Guyanese warned me about places I should NOT visit. Top of the list was Stabroek market. That is where many people are separated from their money and jewelry. I also noticed many homes were mini fortresses with lots of iron work. Crime is real. So much so, private security is a huge growth industry. So, while nostalgia is a thing, I can confidently say while I am Guyanese by birth I see myself as an American today. Props to Guyanese because you can't give me a million US to live there.
