Entirely depends on the individual. I began learnjng guitar aged 12...I could play "Her comes the Sun" .as Doyle is here at aged 15. For a real guitar Genius...check out Tommy Emmanuel..he makes DD look like a clumsy amature.

I have the Godin a12..outstanding guitar, and not expensive at all! takes forever to get out of tune, and sounds great for me unplugged and plugged in.

Obviously nothing is as loud as a full bodied acoustic...I can hear mine just fine...plugged in, this is a real beauty.

In today's market it is psychologically very important to keep your prices under 1000 dollars / euros. These A12s are €909.- It is a WISE decision to endorse a guitar factory that makes ecologically built guitars and sells them at a price that is AFFORDABLE. It is not stimulating for young players when they see their idol playing a guitar that they never will be able to buy. Doyle is a Christian and a 'teacher' with ideas about the world. Playing an A12 and a Seagull acoustic is a message to youngsters: "You can achieve this too, if you work a little... buy these guitars... and PRACTICE!"

Bob, thanks for sharing. I'm not promoting any guitar or amp...just one of the most amazing finger style guitarists I know. This was impromptu (no practice warm up or sound check), on an unfamiliar guitar and gear in an open booth at NAMM, taken with an iPhone. Please forgive the treble!

A 12 string is a whole other animal,you need to tune down 2 steps and use thicker guauge strings,use a lighter pick and adjust your right hand to the needs of a 12.Lets just say you dont wear construction boots to your wedding ...lol

Artie Fischel well, Doyle's Godin is out of tune. I like Godin guitars though.

Lol! It really depends on the quality of the guitar, tuners and how hard you play. If you bend the strings like a six string (like I do) it will and does go out of tune and can sound pretty nasty. I play 12 string exclusively. I have the same Godin 12 string and it stays in tune very well. My favorite is the Takamine F-440 cutaway. However I wouldn’t use the orange amp with it :)

Total bollocks my dear friend...depends on the quality of your 12 string guitar and how you play it.

nut work has to be right and the small octaves have to be fresh and not old and cruddy. If those two things are good and the tuners aren't junk, the guitar will be fine and tune up well. If the nutwork is bad (especially high slot on g), it'll keep you awake at night.
