A magnificent recital! Brilliant playing by Tim Ravalde on this beautiful English cathedral organ and fabulous videography to add to the viewing and listening pleasure: bravo! (Tim suggests that the melody in Whitlock's 'Folk Tune' is original to the composer. He may be right . . . but I have seen a source noting how "The Five Short Pieces" dating from 1929 are dedicated to James Peter Burney, who was a Rochester chorister with Whitlock. Adrian Self, from 'The Cumbrian Society of Organists' claimed in 2017 that the 'Folk Tune' is an obvious reworking of Vaughan Williams’s ‘Springtime of the Year’ from his Five English Folk Songs of 1913.)

Thank you Tim Ravalde. lovely program and playing. Your "Petrus" was outstanding, btw. Thank you Richard for all the drone video and perfect visuals of the playing. Since I've never been to Chichester, it gave a sense of place, and thanks especially for showing the commemorative places of Thomas Weelkes. beautiful audio recording as always. No easy task to record a pipe organ, or to play one, so bravo to you both.

Wow! This is truly exceptional in every way. Not only is the performance breathtakingly good, but the recording and mixing is inspirational. Congratulations to you Tim and Richard. I was blown away by your own toccata and fugue; such a simple plainsong motiv but huge development of the ideas and beautifully shaped in its direction and range of textural interest. I’m in awe!

A superb concert and loved the self-effacing and honest commentary preceding Tim’s own composition … which was stunning both in creation and playing. Mine would be that ‘blank sheet of paper’ and the chancel would be strewn with dropped notes! Bravo and thank you.

I love the way he plays the 537 fugue. An energetic concerto feel, it bobs along like a Brandenberg. In stark contrast to typical English cathedral-style performance with swell to mixture box half closed coupled to a miserable diapason or two on the great and a nasty duplexed reed on the pedal and all legatissimo with the odd detached note thrown in. This is a cut above the rest.

The recital is good, but audio is bad for the TV. Regardless of how loud the TV volume is set, excessive reverb is not conveyed properly as unnecessary speaker vibration even if the music is soft and TV is at low volume.
