Love the old school Suburban...we owned two over the years and by far the most roomy and comfortable rigs ever, we had many adventures in ours

That would be great! There's so much cool geology and history out there. Luckily it's only about a 3ish hour drive there for us, which we seem to consider pretty close 😁

One of the hardest things about collecting there is deciding which stones to keep. So many choices. One of our go to camping areas during normal off season (winter)

Makes me homesick for the outback. Im impressed with your willingness to leave the beaten path. I. Learned to adventure in Lakeview. I learned that creeks can be driven in and that "not maintained in the winter " sign means go on until you cant because theres nothing like ths view from fandango in December. Good job. Time for a trip back home.

I just discovered your channel I’m loving it. Living in Redmond you are going to similar places I’m going to also. So many beautiful places off the beaten path to explore. I hope to run into to sometime out there. Thanks for spending the time to make them.

We hit Glass Buttes every year, was there a month ago. Beautiful area to hound obsidian. We hit the Tri Flo, Rainbow, Crazy Lace, Gold sheen and Fire pits ..( Buddy has some claims there).. Looks like you both did very well on that trip ..

That's awesome! We try every year, probably only missed one in the last 8 or so. We've managed to find every type also over the years 🪨

Books are a great way to start! Of course these days, the internets work pretty good, too 😁. But I still like books 🖤

@@OutandBackOregon those are the rumors I've heard in the dark underbelly of society. I don't know if we can trust the computer machine!

My youngest daughter lives obsidian. We are going to have to do this some time. Is 4WD needed for this trip? If so we will have to wait till we get our next rig.

You can get to 90% of the obsidian spots with 2wd. I think the whole overall route you could do as well. There are certain trails around Glass Buttes you would probably want 4wd, but the vast majority is easily accessible. It's tons of fun, we have a lot of obsidian in our yard 😁

4wd is not needed in that area, good wheel placement and tires are a must, I drove a service an HVAC service van like yours many times up to the towers on Glass butte.....my van had considerably more weight which helped but driving skill is helpful

So, just so we don't get anybody in a Camry in trouble: #1 - If it's wet out there, 4WD required. #2 - There are trails in the area that 4wd/AWD, or 2wd + rear locker are absolutely recommended. High clearance as well. I broke the crap out of the plastic spare tire carrier under our BMW X3 out there, along with other bits. And size can be an issue. I've barely squeezed through in a few places. Like I said, 90% of it's fine, but if you really go exploring, you could run into some issues that would be very difficult to back a large 2WD van out of.
