Absolutely love Longines. This watch punches waaaaay above its weight, as does Longines in general. For the money, in my opinion, the Longines Hydroconquest is by far the best diver at it’s price range, hands down. Absolutely LOVE IT. I’d probably go black or blue, but the model itself is phenomenal.

Initially, I didn't care for the oversized crown and crown-guard, preferring something more subdued like the Oris Aquis. This made the watch seem unbalanced to me. Later, I was told Longines did this intentionally as a design element. If you tilt the watch on its side, with the 9 o'clock up, the crown and crown-guard have a resemblance to the company's Wing and Hourglass Logo. After learning this I fell in love with the quirkiness of the design.

I had done a bunch of research on a luxury dive watch I would be buying for my milestone anniversary, looking at the Omega Seamaster, Rolex Sub and Tudor Black bay as some of my favorites. Not wanting to wait to have a great watch to start my collection, I ended up with the Longines Hydro Conquest as my first entry into the Luxury watch market. My experience so far is positive. Fit and finish is done very well for the price, good power reserve, similar appearance to many higher end watches. With the anti reflective coating, dial, bezel. I haven’t see a watch, so far, that compares in value.

@@dsdf_fdp1858 I wore it with the green strap for 2 months and never got comfortable with the feel. I switched to the bracelet and haven't looked back! I've had a number of people ask what model Rolex it is...not until they're up on it do they see what it really is and they are shocked! I wear it 3-4 days a week... I switch it out with my Panerai Luminor Marina (PAM1312) on the regular. I typically wear my watch first thing in the morning and take it off before I go to bed at night and the bracelet is very comfortable through the course of the day. Given my experience, I would ditch the strap....but that's just me. Remember, with the strap, once you cut off too much, you're fucked. 😁😁

To be fair, I thought the green rubber strap was just going to look much better with the green in the dial. However, after wearing the bracelet for as long as I have, I think it actually looks better contrasting with the stainless. Then of course there is the whole comfort factor that we've already mentioned.

I got the grey version a few months ago. I was lucky and made a great deal for 1.200€. I wanted a more wearable dive watch next to my breitling superocean. I always loved longines and the hydroconquest does it all. It’s super accurate and has a dressy kind of look for a sports watch. the dial catches the sunlight perfectly and the finish is wonderful. the watch is really fun to wear and I couldn’t be happier…

It's one of my favorite watches. But actually within the Swatch Group up the upper class range the Tissot Seastar is unbeatable by value for money. Longines and Mido are great though, but for the half price the Seastar even with Silicon-Spring it is hard to pass.

Absolutely agree! Im rocking the Seastar 2000 and it's an amazing piece 600m with 80 hours reserve release valve on Steele bracelet exhibition back for $1300 Canadian not even close for me!

Hydroconquest is better quality, looks better (personal preference), and the movement is very accurate and designed to be serviced unlike the powermatic 80 in the tissot. Both cool watches but the hydroconquest is on a higher level.

I picked up a Mido Ocean Star for about $450 on ebay a few years ago and managed to find the rubber strap with clasp online as well, and I can’t seem to ever wear anything else.

I have a two tone hydro and I love it! Only problem is that the lume is terrible. I could be out and about in the sun all day and then come night time you can barely see anything. Lume only really works well when you are out in the direct sun then go to a dark spot still during the day.

That's true, I got one too and sold it. It's a pity as all the other specs are dive standard. I sold mine as it was useless as a backup to my dive computer. But if you don't use a dive watch for diving, maybe it's ok. Definitely a Seiko is better if you dive.

After a year with this one, the lume has improved. I have no idea why, though. Maybe a layer of some material that decays first?

Nice vid as always , thanks for sharing. I got myself a hydroconquest 39mm in grey with the rubber strap in November 2023. lovely watch and a good size for me, usually wearing DJ in 36mm. Only thing that is not good in my opinion is the crown. As you see in the video, it has a sort of cap at the top, behind the fluted part. I guess it is meant to improve the way to pull out the crown with your fingernails. But when you screw the crown back in to tighten it, this plate in combination with the large crown protectors on the housing of the watch, make you miss a tight grip on the fluted part of the crown and you have almost no sensual response if the crown is tightened or not. This always makes me feel a bit uncomfortable not to be 100% sure if the watch is waterproof or not. Great watch though. 👍

Longines has been killing it with their Master and Heritage collections for a while now. Check out the Heritage A7 1935 with either the white or black dials which are very different as well as the Master collection moonphase which is the most complicated watch for it's price range. I've added several Longines pieces to my collection in the last year. Coincidentally I've ordered this Hydroconquest earlier this week and hope to have it in the next few days. For the quality, history, and price you won't regret adding a few to your collection.

Very nice. I did get one but as I do use my dive watches as backups when diving, I did sell it quite quickly as the lume seriously lets this watch down. It's disappointing as it has the specs for a dive watch but the lume is very short lived. I think there was just not enough layers applied.

I just got the 39mm blue quartz Hydroconquest for $740 OTD. I liked that it was almost 2mm thinner and a lot less money. Just ordered a 19mm blue rubber strap.

Fantastic value watches that offer way more than the ubiquitous micro-brands. The only issue with the early models was the bracelet, which was impossible to get comfortable.

This is one of the best watches I ever purchased. Wears very similiar to old Seamaster sword hands, and that means something :) It is also highly legible, strap is great. I gave it to my step son. He wears it daily, watch is doing great and looks super cool even on his small wrist.

Yeah its huge but it curves down hard so itll wrap around the wrist nicely. I have a 6-6.25 inch flat wrist and it wears so nice. Longines is known for long lug sizes

You say this has a movement based on the a31.l11 but I thought it was only some of the dearer hydro conquest models that used the l888.5 which is based on this movement with silicon spring? I thought the base models were based on the a31.l02 or some maybe on the a31.l01. Longines doesn’t exactly publish this clearly on their website.

Any Hydroconquest with 5 year warranty has the L888.5. That changed in July 2020. All Longines automatics now have silicon hairspring.

While this is a good watch, the full ceramic version from Longines is miles ahead of this version, and also has a better clasp with built in on the fly micro adjustment
