Thes things just blow me away. The fact that people discovered these things and then understood them with great detail from scratch is amazing. I really want to discover something one day :(

I’m about to take the final semester test on organic chemistry and aldehyde is one of the main themes (besides phenol, alcohol and acid carboxylic) in the test so this is very helpful

Question for someone in here smarter than me, My daughter has a Genetic Mutation that's caused various parts of her life to have challenges. One of the smaller issues we have is she always seems to easily get dehydrated or something. Because she gets elevated Urine Ketones all the time. Now I had a friend in Italy who said a Doctor over there told her to just give her kid Coca-Cola and it'll balance it out. Desperntly we tried this, she drank 8oz of coke and we also ran about 12 Oz of water through her. About an hour later her urine was a better shade of light yellow ( not the dark orange/amber) it was. Did the water help? Or is there something with the Chemistry of the Coke that actually helped?

Look up a Keto diets and ketoacidosis and it'll make sense. I don't think its the coke as much as it is the sugar. You could reproduce this effect by just giving her some juice in all likelihood. Taking everything I say with a massive grain of salt as I'm just a random guy on the internet, ketones in urine are the result of low blood sugar. Basically when your body has to rely on fat as a nutrition source, you see elevated ketone levels. When the body has the choice it will always prefer to use glucose however, and thus there will be no/lower ketones in the urine. Now why this blood sugar is low is far far beyond anything I could suggest. Again I'm just a random dude on the net, and need to be treated as such.

@@grigorigahan actually the most common cause of ketoacidosis isn't low blood sugar but low insulin levels, insulin is what brings the sugar in the cells where it is turned into atp, if the body isn't producing insulin or is resisting it for some reason the cells will start turning amino acids (lipids) into atp directly and that can form ketones leading to ketoacidosis in the body. Parent commenter, if your child has that problem again you should take your child to the hospital, if your in country with good healthcare they can run tests and make sure what the problem is and then treat it and teach you how to take care of your child at home. It could be low sugar levels or it could be low insulin or it could be something else, you won't know for sure without taking them to a doctor

Is really that most of the Chemistry is only "applied Theory"? I mean, we can't see the forms of molecules , can we? Or how did scientist invent their forms or models to "represent" what happens in naturewe call Chemistry) ??? What Do you recommend me to read to solve this big question i can't find easily in Google??(i don't know how to search for " who creates the forms of molecules" ....i'm supposing they are models... Like mathematics... Well , i'm very comfused😉😩
