It's great that other cultures are getting into the pipes. I heard a song called open your heart that was composed by a Japanese woman. they had Uilleann Pipes used in it, which sounded absolutely beautiful.

Highly recommend you check out 'Cynical World' by the same Japanese woman, Yuki Kajiura! Namaimoan actually played Uillean Pipes in the live performance of that song!

Oh, i just remembered, the recent performance, she also played in a recent Yuki Kajiura live, in tracks like Red Rose. It's my absolute fav, and I'm sure it was her cuz she was on the album-art-thing, and the playing style very much sounds like her (Red Rose is my favorite from the entire live, that performance would not be the same without her, highly recommend!)

This video is proof that our good paddy maloney can sleep easy knowing that his work and others like his good self has been saved for all time in the hearts of all who would open their hearts to this beautiful music and save it for ever.. much love from Newfoundland Canada

That was marvelous! I'm a Highland Piper myself, and can only dream of one day being able to play the Ullean Pipes as beautifully as you do! You appear to be quite young, how blessed you are because being this far along with these pipes means that you will be a master in your later years!

'It takes 21 years to learn to play pipes - seven years to learn the instrument, another seven to learn the tunes and yet another seven to learn the music.'

Was said if highland pipes: 7 years learning, 7 years practicing, 7 years playing. Illeann pipes are whole other animal but just as demanding.

That was Seamus Ennis who said that. He also could spin a yarn or two as they say. Here is proof his math was a bit off: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bXyco4N-qJeZjtE

Wonderful, young lady. I play the uilleann pipes myself. The alternative title for the first tune is 'O'Farrell's Welcome to Limerick'. I am an O'Farrell myself. I hope you don't know what 'An Phis Fhliuch' means in Irish...please keep it up. My greatest respects to you.

Mighty piping! Small correction, this is a slip jig known by two different names. Either The Choice Wife or O'Farrell's Welcome to Limerick. The second tune is a reel which the name escapes me. Anyway great stuff and craic on!
@CamStLouis2 жыл бұрын
An phis fhliuch is Irish for, uh, something that might make someone a "choice wife," stemming from a dirty joke made by a famous performer. The tune is referred to by any number of similar euphemisms in that vein. The true title is "O'Farrell's Welcome to Limerick."
@colindouglas77692 жыл бұрын
@@CamStLouis The most common title for the first tune (yes, there are two tunes here) is Hardiman The Fiddler. The Clumsy Lover is a modern Scottish bagpipe reel, composed by Neil Dickie.
@CamStLouis2 жыл бұрын
@@colindouglas7769 Where are you getting your information? Do you play Irish music? Hardiman the Fiddler is quite a different tune from O'Farrell's, and she's very obviously playing O'Farrell's here.
