Been watching you the last 6 hrs. There's never a problem hold attention from a veteran woodworker/carpenter. I appreciate your content, craftsmanship, and journey through life, which we are bound to until our last breath. Great job in All of it!!! I was watching this video, and your veneering of the "tower". I thought this would be an appropriate time to Introduce your platform to an old nautical technique called "tick sticking" it's a beautiful, almost poetic way of measuring any inset without a tape measure. Just 2 pieces of wood which can be random. That's all one needs to measure to a scary precise piece of wood "housed" in any position. If you're not familiar with this technique, I wood highly advise you to look it up, and practice it. It will only add to your deep knowledge of the trade!!! Thank you for bringing us into your journey through life! It's a privilege and honor to watch! 66carpenter

Coffee machine near the toilet - *chef's kiss* Great work, dude. Your level of accuracy and detail is great - I didn't notice you making many relative measurements at all.
@FortressFineWoodworks
@FortressFineWoodworks 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, it was the customers idea for the coffee maker. I reference a 3d model for measurements, but I don't share many measurements in the video because it tends to complicate things. If enough people ask, I will start producing plans for sale
@mattelias721
@mattelias721 2 жыл бұрын
@@FortressFineWoodworks I'm sure you'll get there on plan sales! My measurement comment's context was to the idea that cabinetry needs to hit measurements, while a lot of other woodworking can be all relative. Probably why I kinda suck at cabinetry.

Just when I thought it couldnt get any better you added the pull out for the coffee maker. So thoughtful! Then the stop blocks on the bottom of the toe kick was genius. Having kids and a bunny, I could see all kinds of things getting under and behind the cabinets. Heck yea I subscribed.

I'm really impressed with your woodworking skills and video production quality. I'm thinking you're the only KZbinr that I've seen, who puts such thought into the final reveal, even the music is special. Speaking of music that last piece is phenomenal. would you mind sharing name of song and artist?

I truly thank you for such great compliments. A lot of my skill was once learned from KZbin and I'd like to say I'm giving back now :) The song for the final reveal is called "d.st piano dramatic cinematic mp3" from audiojungle It's royalty free music

As far as the miter on the base, left side, what if you cut the top at 90° so the left side piece, grainwise, butted straight into the left side piece? Not sure that even made sense. It would add to the stress and thought process, but it would almost look like the entire base was carved out of the same piece! Great job on the book matching of the base, regardless of what I suggested! 66carpenter

Nice work. It will be interesting to see how your skills grow as you learn. On a custom inset job I would have built that as 3 cabinets. When they get over 8' remember to make sure they can make any turns. If you continue as a one man shop your goal should be looking for 1,500-2,000 sq ft space.
@FortressFineWoodworks

The tower had to be one cabinet because the doors are inset, the frames are exposed, a full length frame is much more high end. That's the difference between a custom builder and a cabinet shop. Hoping to build my shop bigger soon, thanks for the tips.

Very nice, that toe kick looks great. Why do your frames overhang instead of flushing them so the cabinets can mate together? Just wondering cause I've never seen that before..
@FortressFineWoodworks
@FortressFineWoodworks 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Some cabinets like the tower are built deeper to create depth, and serve as a place for the overhanging countertop to die into.
@kevphil4841

Sorry what I meant was your frames are wider then the boxes and when you screwed them together there are spaces between the boxes, what is the purpose of doing it this way?
@FortressFineWoodworks
@FortressFineWoodworks 2 жыл бұрын
Great question. It offers room for me to move the backside of the box side to side to make sure it is square with the front. So drawers always work correctly. This also ensures the frames are always tight and don't get disrupted by the boxes pushing against eachother
