@@robertsloan2877 Underground and Rising Sun are both underrated. The originals on ps1 and frontline and Rising sun all need full graphical remasters and put on today’s modern consoles.

This game is my whole childhood. I have completed this game more than 5-6 times. The soundtrack of this game made by Boston Symphony Orchestra I believe. I love the soundtrack. Nowadays you dont this much of exclusive soundtracks because its more made by computer/electronic. I love going to Germany visiting War Museum while listening the soundtrack of this game. Thank you for your review ! Amazing that gamers like you didnt forget these games. Thank you

Great Review! Subbed! This is by far my favourite WW2 fps game (genre which I love and know very well). I think that they managed to turn obstacle that console limitations were, into very own flavour of fps game. I love how they compensate for slower controls with fitting enemy animations (and how that gave them chance to scale difficulty, because in later, harder levels enemies reacts much faster, with more agressive animations), the weapons (again animations- enemies reactions to shots) are one of the best i've ever seen. Also somehow these simple (even crude) visuals, mixed with advanced animations, artstyle and incredible soundtrack and sounds - makes it much more impactful, like if your game leaves some room for your imagination to fill the gaps (unlike when you have super detailed models and so) the end result can be so enhanced, it feels much less constrained in a sense. I've never seen a game where SS would be so intimidaiting like in this game, even a bit creepy - latter ww2 games either have that strong Saving Private Ryan vibe, when enemies feels like some poor wermacht guys just fighting on the wrong side of history, or almost cartoonish villans like in Wolfenstein - here in MoH Undergrond they feel like this dark overwhelming force, they feel evil.

Catacombs, it was terrifying just as Jason Voorhees himself, even with low graphics, this game has TRUE atmosphere. And I love that it shows the people you shoot shows pain, tells you that your enemies are human, even though they act like monsters, they are human meaning you might turn into one of them, or already are, but you can also change, they could also change.

If the game itself is underrated, then I don't know what to say about soundtrack - probably the best Giacchino's work. I'm still listening to this after 20 years (it's available on Apple Music and Spotify).

I love this game. Its my favorite in the series and the first I owned. I jumped straight from my SNES to my PS2 and the store I picked this up at had a used copy of Frontline for only a couple of dollars more but I've had a huge soft spot for stories about rebellions and resistance movement as far back as I can remember clearly so I grabbed this.

9:44 - I don’t remember what time period the game makes reference, but it may be about the time when the Wehrmacht and SS fought each other by the end of the war.

That specific mission takes place in June 1943, and the other faction is actually a group of outlaws. From the in-game briefing of that mission: "Rumor has it the Germans have been trying to form an alliance with a band of outlaw privateers, but both sides have been less than pleased with each other. It's possible that open fighting may break out between the two factions." I have no idea about the historical accuracy of that, but that's the explanation the game gives.

@@joethealternativegamer3935 having a blast so far. The controls do take some getting used to, I'm glad to hear they feel more 'modern' in Underground. I find it funny that the devs apparantly made a big deal of MOHU's protagonist being female. Manon just like Jimmy is completely unvoiced and what she is other than a pair of hands holding a gun is pretty irrelevant outside of her brother's death in the first mission. As far as I'm concerned, the greatest strength of the PS1 MOH games is the soundtrack. Its been nice seeing it getting reused in the Wolfenstein: Blade of Agony mod for Doom, which mostly plays like those games. Give Blade Of Agony a look, its very much in the same vein as those PS1 games albeit with a mild supernatural bent.

There were several anti-vichy partisan groups active from June of 1940 all the way to the formalization of the resistance as the FFI in 1944. During the mid-war in 1942-1943, the Vichy government began massive reprisal campaigns against suspected resistance cells and criminal activity. Prior to that in 1941 the SOE had established a fairly significant resistance cell in Lyon thanks to SOE Operative Virginia Hall (A woman then codenamed Marie Diane). The communist party soon followed when Germany invaded the USSR. After all of this the resistance was considered an established and known threat, even having targeted German military personnel and politicians. There's a lot of verifiable history on them, it wasn't particularly an organized militia or anything, but there's plenty of evidence that the SOE was funneling information, equipment and manpower to the many different anti-vichy groups that were in-country. There were Gaullists, Jews, Communists, Monarchs, French-Armenians, French-Africans, you name it, most of them had some kind of group that was actively working against the Vichy government (and later the German Occupation Government).
