Amazing, just typical that when you’re talking about days were you don’t see hardly anything, a kingfisher, Hobby and Bittern (all birds I’m yet to see) all turn up in such a short space of time, lol. So glad your patience yielded results with some lovely photos. Great video.

A few years ago in Suffolk it seemed we couldn't go anywhere without seeing bitterns, kingfishers and Marsh harriers, we started to get very blasé. This year the best I got was a rear end shot of a bittern lightening the load, that was one shot which I might have preferred to be out of focus.

I'm so glad your patience and perserverance was rewarded. Carrying all that heavy stuff around has put paid to my own chances of being a wildlife photographer, but I suppose once you've got it set up you're going to hang around that much longer in the lingering hope that something might finally turn up. So good for you and your enthusiasm and joy was lovely to witness.

I’m lucky enough to live under an hour from both Lakenheath Fen and Minsmere, so juggle myself between the two. I’m always surprised when I arrive (ok, very early!) and I’m the only one there! Activity will start picking up soon at the reserves… looking forward to it. And I’ve booked another trip to RSPB Havergate Island 😎 Keep up the good work, you’ve a new follower 😊

@@PinfoldPhotographic I went to Lakenheath Fen early this morning. Six separate sightings of kingfishers in four locations, and a private air display by a hobby 😊

Nicely put together video, enjoyed seeing your day out. I have found a small bird reserve in southern Spain which we visit regularly. Different birds of course, lots of glossy ibis, cattle egrets and red knobbed coots(rare elsewhere). Birds are very interesting!

Historically Lakenheath has always been more miss for me than hit. But then again it is an RSPB reserve and im back using my old G9 with the worst autofocus performance for birds in flight ever 😂 Surprised we've never crossed paths either 😮

I also experienced more misses that hits, but that's wildlife for you! I'm surprised we haven't crossed paths also! I'll be returning in the winter months hopefully so maybe then?!

Brill video one of the bitterns from lakenheath only goes there to breed it flys up there from amwell hertfordshire we no its the same bird as its ringed 👍
