Quick update on what has happened since this video was made! Matt and I each spoke with representatives from Six Flags Over Georgia, who apologized for what happened, and provided more information on their policies. First, Six Flags Over Georgia DOES allow cameras with interchangeable lenses in the park. Next, the loose article cubbies at Superman Ultimate Flight are there because they were never removed from the old policy before the lockers were brought in, and now are solely to be used by guests with medical equipment that they can’t be separated from in line. They don’t want loose items placed there in the event of theft. The lockers are in place to speed up operations. Finally, Six Flags takes safety VERY seriously, and were alarmed at what happened to Matt at Superman. Disciplinary action has since been taken, with steps made to ensure something like that does not happen again. The same goes for the ride operator on his phone at Goliath. What happened to us this past week is not an accurate representation of staff training. We appreciate management for speaking with us, apologizing for what happened, and taking steps to improve. As I mentioned at the end of the video, I know that despite what happened, we will be back to Six Flags Over Georgia in the future, and we look forward to having a much better experience. -Taylor

I've worked at a different Six Flags park for 4 years, and worked at a second Six Flags park this summer, what happened to his friend would've gotten the whole crew fired at my main park, because guest safety is the most important thing there. But also, we're a newer Six Flags park, so we still have the mind frame from our old management, but guest safety is the most important thing, we've had entire crews fired from a ride because someone missed a restraint and the crew cleared the ride to start, with a restraint still up in the air. That part of the video seriously made my blood boil as a ride op who takes her job seriously. Like yeah, it's good to be efficient and have the ride going, but efficiency means nothing if your guests aren't safe.

Yikes! That strange photo policy reminds me of the ridiculous antics that Six Flags Ohio / Six Flags Worlds of Adventure enforced. While I was never turned away at the front gate for having a camera, I was asked to put it back in my car for taking pictures on the midway. Not in any line. Not in any behind the scenes areas. In the park, on the midway. I even witnessed security taking a camera out of the hands of one of my friends who was just walking with it. It was miserable at that park and I stopped going because of rules like that. Each time it happened I would go to guest relations and wasn't given the explanation for the rule. The closest anyone explained it to me was "Six Flags prohibits the copying of any of it's logos". When I brought up that the park sells disposable cameras in the gift shops, they denied it. The photo policy is one thing but the safety of riders is a MUST. I still can't believe what I have seen in your video. How does anyone not see that when a train is dispatching? It sounds like Six Flags Over Georgia did apologize to you, which is a step in the right direction, but considering the video, I have absolutely no plans to visit that park anytime in the future. Maybe that will change in a few years but this video really turned me off from going to the park. Thanks for uploading.

The funny thing is that according to the park there was never a restriction against photography. This was back when I was the ACE publications director and, of course, we rely on contributions of photos from our members. I felt it should be brought to someone's attention. I wrote to the GM and PR manager and told them that there were disturbing reports of guests being harassed by park security and employees for taking pictures - even a report of one employee ripping film out of guest's camera. I also provided them with a link to a video of a security guard screaming into the camera to shut it off. I was given a written response that as long as park patrons remain within public areas they are welcome to take pictures and video. I still have that letter somewhere. Fortunately I never experienced it first hand, so I do have photos of the park. However, these complaints were all over RRC (social media at the time) and it happened to several people I know, some of them close friends. It had to be a widespread problem and yet the park managers seemed completely unaware.

As a former Superman ride op at SFGAm, that leg flap mistake is inexcusable. Every one on the platform that day needs to be disciplined. From day 1, I've always maintained that nobody under the age of 18 should be operating rides -- but some entire crews in the Six Flags chain have red tags (16 & 17 yr olds). Super is one of the hardest rides to operate and one of the rides that requires the most focus during dispatch -- the SOP and certification exam are made difficult for a reason.

I don't really understand how the Superman thing even happened. Here in the UK, the staff for Galactica (Air) have to check the foot restraints for every seat before the train is authorised to leave (usually involves a slight kick) - this would be picked up in a heartbeat. How can something so obvious be missed and then further ignored once the train was primed (it wasn't hard to miss); and then some-one actually had to authorise and allow the train to leave. I even think there is some sort of sensor that detects a weight distribution issue if this happens and flags the seat concerned (I'm not certain, but I seem to remember conversations about amputees having to have an over-ride because the trains didn't detect the "correct" number of legs, for example). There are just SO MANY points of failure here I'm flabbergasted. That isn't a mistake. That is negligence at it's most obvious.

My history with Disney is that they are very welcoming to brining in any camera. I brought in a Mirrorless camera with external microphone, 4 lenses, extra batteries and a gimbal and the only thing Disney asked me was to confirm that the gimbal did not extend (like a selfie stick) and took my work for it. As for my Six Flags park (Great America) they will not even let in a 2 tabletop handheld tripod, but as of 2019, they did not care about me brining in my mirrorless with the one lens attached (no bag of stuff like when I went to Disney). as for Universal Orlando, they were the same as Disney, just you cannot bring anything (even smartphone) on any rides except the Hogwarts Express and Dr Seuss ride. I think that Disney as well as Universal want as much web presence via vloggers and are willing to let people bring in best gear.

I was on the Georgia scorcher and my pockets were seriously exposed. I had very precious items, my phone, earpods, and a phone case with a strap on it to record a roller coaster. Luckily one of my buddies who works at Six Flags was actually working on the ride so he was able to ask the dispatcher to undo me and other buddies restraint so my other buddy can hold my phone in his zipper pocket. But before that I even tried to put him in the cubbies on the scorcher but they wouldn't let me do that. I think they need to do some rule changing that would be more basic and safe at the same time. The restraints were all locked or the train wouldn't be able to depart the station. As a former Security officer at a major US theme park I hope I can clear up some of the confusion on the camera thing. Most (if not all) theme parks in the are major targets for terrorists. When you are in the park the is normally no issue in taking photos. However when someone is on the exterior of a park taking photos of the park infrastructure it can be a huge red flag. Especially in openly accessible areas like a public sidewalk. This is because it would show that a person is not inside, may not have a ticket and may not have even paid for parking. Now while it is not illegal to take photos of anything that can be seen from a public space, in my experience that is the most likely reason that they called the police. Now with that said they (Security or Police) should have been able to openly express those concerns with you once they had identified who you are and had valid admission to enter the park. Again I hope that this was helpful.

Okay, Taylor. I bookmarked this video because I knew I just had to get around to watching it since it was about SFOG. My mind was on the insurrection, the domestic terrorism that happened in DC yesterday (1/6/2021). But that is another story for another time, this ain't the place for it. Now that I've wanted to lighten the mood a bit and get my mind on something fun and awesome, i.e., roller coasters, I've finally came around to watching this video. And I've just got to say that I am floored at your experience at SFOG. I hate that you had a bad time time, and I'm just a normal, everyday fan of your channel, not some Six Flags rep. But the reason I'm so floored is because it just seems like things haven't changed at SFOG. I take that back. They have changed, but FOR THE WORSE. My last visit at SFOG was way back in 2009. And it's now 2021 and it just seems like the staff there is STILL rude, obnoxious, uncaring, boring, uninterested, lazy, and dare I say incompetent. I have better (or worse, depending on how you look at it) words, but I know that you are a family friendly channel and I will respect that. But basically being told that you are some domestic terrorist by security is just wrong. I would've been incensed if they had told me that if I was innocently taking pictures. It's 2021. DSLR cameras are the norm and they are affordable now. I remember growing up on 33mm film cameras, but again, another story for another time. I am no former ride op. I couldn't tell you what buttons do what to get roller coasters to dispatch and what have you. But when there are two things like that that jeopardize safety, you shouldn't stop at park management. You need to take this up to corporate RIGHT NOW and get them to launch some sort of investigation. You have photo evidence of one of the safety hazards, the leg not being attached to S:UF. The phone use while working on Goliath can't really be proved or anything, unfortunately. Somebody needs to be held accountable for this. For them to simply brush it off simply cannot happen. Though I'm sure nothing will be done about it whether you go to corporate or not, just saying. I will visit SFOG again someday. I owe them another visit. It's my home away from home park, the closest major park to me. But maybe from now on, I should set my excitement meter a lot lower. Because now I know not to bring my own DSLR camera with me nor my camcorder, so the best I've got is my cellphone, so appreciate the heads up there. It just sucks that SFOG is just run by staff that is only there for a paycheck and are not enthusiastic about their jobs or by guests at a place that is just built to have fun. My last (and only) visit to SFGAdv, another Six Flags park, was the total opposite, albeit all the way back in 2006. They were interactive, cracked jokes, all smiles, all that good stuff. Hope you can shake this visit off your mind and go to your next park with a fresh start (hint: You will). Have a nice day, and Happy New Year.

I have worked at Canada's Wonderland 3 years ago, and never in my life as a ride op for that one season have I seen true ignorance of ride safety where one's legs can get chopped off and this kind of behavior from any staff. Six Flags, shame on you guys and the staff at the park. You're there to keep people safe and to make sure people have fun, and all you do is your job lazily and don't even care about it. But missing the leg flaps is unacceptable, and it should be clear that those are not missed. It's like they didn't even watch ElToroRyan's video on this ride, that the leg flaps close but reopen until the hydraulic cylinders for the vest restraints are locked. That entire staff must be fired from that ride, and the entire staff in the park should be fired. As a previous ride operator myself, it is important to make sure every guest is happy and satisfied with their experience, and another reasons why Cedar Fair parks employ and train their people much better. I really hope some of these ride ops are fired and dealt with.

@@coasterhockygamingboy9549 As a ride op and just an overall staff member, I just know that people are here to have fun and I make sure to be as nice as possible. I'm a chill guy overall though so it was a fun job for me. I think Cedar Fair trains its employees to have better standards and to give a much better experience. I've never had a bad experience at Canada's Wonderland or their staff at all either.

I had the same thing happen to me with my camera at worlds of fun back in 2016. They had the head of HR come out and talk to me and everything. The following year when Koaster Kids came, we were with the same HR guy, and he was supportive of both mine and Logan’s KZbin channels! Last year I was a ride operator on Timberwolf for about a month, and everyone I worked with (except for one guy) took safety to the extreme!! We frequently stopped the ride on the lift for someone having their phone out or not having their mask on!

The real safety issues at six flags over georgia is not inside the park but outside the park, it's nothing unusual to see fights and cars running out of control through the parking lots, especially late at night when security is pretty much non existent.

My first time riding Firehawk at King's Island I didn't get properly restrained (they didn't tighten the vest restraint at all and never pushed on it once to even check it). I can confirm this happened to our entire row, because my guest had a terrifying experience as well, and the two other people on the same car had never ridden and both felt like they were hanging loose. Now my legs were in the restraint so I couldn't really go anywhere but my upper body was flopping around the entire ride, and I legitimately thought I was going to fall out of it. I was clenching so tight to the vest just to keep myself from slipping free. I enjoyed the ride despite this, even have it listed as one of my favourite coaster moments because of the thrill, but when I went back for a second ride I got fastened in properly and realized how wrong the first one had gone.

Hah, Six Flags Georgia... I’m not surprised at all. This is the same park where I saw years ago they didn’t check the restraints on Acrophobia and they started it lifting it and a kid started dangling from it because he never pulled his restraint down. The people in line were screaming at the ride operators to stop. They brought it back down luckily before it went up too high and the kid didn’t fall off. I really wish I had caught that on camera, but it is something you wouldn’t expect to see at a bigger chain park like Six Flags,

I'm ashamed of my fellow Georgian Ride operators. And I've been to that exact same 6-flags over Georgia, and it was the only time I ever went. I got one of those medium Oshawott stuffed plushies, I freaked out over Goliath, I chickened out on doing tons of other rides, and the only ride I even ended up doing at the end of the day was the one ride that ended up shutting down (I think it was hurricane???) It was a disaster for both my friend and my entire family, and honestly made it apparent that 6-flags was not for me. and I will personally avoid rides that do loops. Since a good majority of 6-flags ride are loop coasters, or even stand-up ones, that basically limited my park experience. The same is with the rest of my family and friend, who made it apparent that if they ever went back there again, they wouldn't bring me along. Still, it was that day I went to 6-flags over Georgia that proved to me that 6-flags was not for me.

So weird watching groups of people react to even slight challenges. Everyone's like "hmm this is not something I see every day" and therefore threat. It's like watching a heard of animals react to a weird looking stump, different therefore threat. Nobody can say why, nobody even knows why they're freaked out.

Normally, ride operators at Superman at SFGAm are fired if someone’s leg is not restrained even just being in the station, let alone stopping to before the lift to fix it. I was hooting and hollering out loud while watching this. How truly terrifying. Wouldn’t it have been convenient if they had stopped your groups’ cameras from being able to capture this event...🧐 I’m truly just blown away

This wasn't on the Superman Ultimate Flight ride, but the Whizzer. Yesterday was my first day at Six Flags Great America and I had fun time with my family, but on the Whizzer everything seemed fine. The ride operator told us to make sure that our seatbelts were on. I didn't think much of it, but in hindsight all the previous rides we went on the ride ops made sure we were securing by checking each car one by one. The ride went great for me and my nephew, but this one kid didn't have on his seat let properly. It was clear the ride op didn't check the belt properly. I'm thankful that the boy didn't fall out of the cart because it would've been horrible. The ride op was acting as if it wasn't his fault when it clearly was. Like actually check everyone to make sure everyone is secure.

As someone who's grown up going to this part my entire life, I can confirm that the customer service and customer-staff relations have been getting consistently worse over the years. It' so unfortunate because SFOG is such a good park with a lot of great rides, but they've gotten to where they don't invest nearly enough in their staff or even bother hiring people who have some amount of passion for theme parks and fun. Hopefully this video alone doesn't discourage you from visiting, but it's a damn shame that my home park is like this now.

Six Flags Over Georgia is a decent Six Flags location, it's the location I grew up with, like many other Six Flags locations it has a history of fatalities and injuries, but it's safe for the most part. Maybe the day you both arrived was just a bad day and throughout the day you had bad timing. Not saying your complaints aren't valid as the employees weren't doing their jobs

I am planning to go to Six Flags over Georgia in the spring for the 2024 season and I’ll make sure to ask the people with the park if I can use my video camera to film some off ride shots of the roller coasters and try not to film anyone at the park. I would hate to do that and make people extremely uncomfortable. This is a good video that ultimately reminded me to film/video tape responsibly and be courteous to other people including the park security

I was at Six Flags Ohio with my video camera on the midway taking some footage of Superman Ultimate Escape. One of the ride operators saw me and screamed over the PA that I had to put my camera away. I ignored them (figuring they meant someone else, or someone on the ride)... and they *E-STOPPED* the ride and sent someone out to reprimand me. They were telling people all that year that it was illegal to "take pictures OF rides" not "take pictures ON rides". Ridiculous... I had a tripod set up outside the park (but on property, in the parking lot) to take some footage of Leviathan at Canada's Wonderland and park security said I wasn't allowed to do that "because my camera looked too professional". Didn't feel like arguing so left. I'm not surprised you had this experience, miscommunication of rules is a big problem and I hope they take the time to sort it out with their people.

Wow the worst issue I had at an amusement park was not being able to ride the gentle kiddie rides at Canada’s Wonderland due to the height limits they set up. Never went back there again. Oh well, I know another amusement park that plays more fairly which is Playland At The PNE in Vancouver. Playland is actually Canada’s oldest still running amusement park so the rides aren’t assigned to specific themed areas and you can often find kiddie rides like Flutter Bye surrounded by thrilling adult rides it’s nuts!

Thanks very much for posting this and I know oh so well as I was a Ride Operator at Universal Studios Orlando Resorts and that would have been and immediate termination for all involved, No questions asked and I've seen it happen before and people demoted for less then what happened. Safety is always #1. Someone should have hit the E-Stop and those on he platform and booth should have been fired, that man could have lost his leg or slipped out of the ride that is very irresponsible. If that was me in that situation I would have put all of the team members on blast in this video. That can't be tolerated and Cell phones aren't even allowed outside of the break area, all ride operators should know that, Cedar Point employees also so the same thing (Who trains these people?) That could have been me or my friends. Thanks for posting, keep doing a great job.

I don't think the camera thing was a response to what happened in Nashville. I visited SFOG in October, and I had security approach me and ask what I was doing when I was taking a very short video of Twisted Cyclone with a camera smaller than a cell phone. I said that I was taking a quick video of the roller coaster, and security said that it was okay, but they were clearly very suspicious of what most people would consider to be a very innocent thing. They must have had some incidents, perhaps (just speculating) some creepy people trying to sneak videos of other specific guests, and maybe that has made them very quick to judge anyone with a camera. It could be that because my camera is small, they didn't give me a hard time and allowed me to continue. But even if my speculation is correct, I don't think this is the right response. I have had other issues with this park in the past, especially with excessive line jumping, often right in front of security guards who were totally fine with it.
