Also, Snape became a double agent after he himself, not Peter, overheard the prophecy, told it to Voldemort but later realized it would mean certain death fir Lily and asked both Voldemort and Dumbledore to save her (didn't care about Harry and James dying tho, g-d I hate Snape, what a hypocrite). He did not become a double agent out of the blue, as you've said in the timeline part

as an old school marauders fan (like….circa 2004…way before tumblr 😬) i loved hearing how people have really even moreso taken the reigns and just ran with these characters. as an older fan there’s a few character changes i’m a little conflicted on (i forever will love softboy remus and sirius being a playboy) but also as a trans man that definitely stole my gender from fanon sirius black it makes me SO happy to see how things have continued to morph and be more inclusive. also THANK YOU for defending young peter. older peter sucks but baby peter hadn’t done anything yet. i used to be one of the Only peter roleplayers back in The Day™️ because that good guy bias was, like you said, SO present in the fandom. thank you for reminding me of my very first fandom because god i was deep in those trenches

I was 10 when POA book came out and the Marauders always seemed to me a much more compelling story than HP. Also I remember my mum (legend) asking me if Remus and Sirius were gay for each other and OOTP just confirmed that for me and my best friends. hi hi i am a third type of viewer: someone uninvolved in the marauders but who loves spectating all major fandoms as an outsider! i've always been curious about and impressed by the mass fanon creativity of the marauders fandom as it's developed... in my memory wolfstar (do they still call it that? i'm only 10 minutes into this video LOL) has been a common ship since the early 2010s, but when i started seeing fic on ao3 about regulus black in the last few years i knew y'all's horizons had Expanded lmao!! i was deep into the kylux sub-fandom under the star wars sequel trilogy fandom umbrella, and my fav part of that fandom was the fanon creations and collective effort to flesh out characters who got very little screen-time or canon depth to their backstories/personalities. but that was NOTHING compared to what the marauders fandom has done, y'all have created your own entire narrative world working off the barest of scraps, and have established a passionate and collaborative community surrounding it! to me that is beautiful, innovative, and genuinely impressive. excited to watch the rest of this now LOL!

just another older marauders fan dropping in to put a very heartfelt stamp of approval on the new direction the fandom is going with these characters and stories. they’re even more compelling now! and I think that’s entirely because the fandom at large has fully embraced the need to divorce itself from rowling and her cruelty - thereby allowing them to be much more creative by playing fast and loose with her canon. which is, at times, so profoundly idiotic and poorly written that it’s hard for it not to really stifle and hamper the telling of good stories. it also really cracks me up to think back on my own time in the fandom, and how my interest in the first place was only stemming from my teen self having the hugest crushes on remus and sirius and both of their actors - so imagined my newly awakening queer self’s DELIGHT at discovering fan content where they KISSED. dream come true. god fucking bless fanfic for that.

Oof. Yes on fandom hating Dumbledore. There's a reason why there are so many Dumbledore Critical or Dumbledore Bashing fics out there. Seriously though, I think once people who read Harry Potter or watched the movies weren't little kids anymore, they realized how awful he was, starting from the moment we meet him when he's leaving an orphaned Harry with his abusive aunt and uncle (who he continuously sends him back to. There's also a reason why we have stories where people are horrified that Harry named one of his sons Albus Severus when if he wanted to name him after dead guys, people like Remus and Cedric were RIGHT there. They didn't create child soldiers or bully children). Like, imagine Neville finding out that one of his students' middle name is that of the man who bullied him. Or imagine Albus Severus asking people who aren't his dad about the guys he was named after.

I never actually got to finish this (but I'm BACK and will probably refer to this as a wiki for fanfic writing), but thank you for doing this. Don't apologize for your love and obsession! I'm like this, but with Tomarry Time Travel fics and era. I'm a HP fanfiction writer who plans on writing some marauder era eventually, but I'm a millennial in her 30s who has only known about Wolfstar, with the occasional Severus/Remus or Severus/Sirius post marauder era. (Sometimes in Severitus niche fics) I was around during the original fancasts of the marauders. I'm so thrilled about this explosion of popularity of this niche in fandom, so proud of my gen z siblings. The only thing I've noticed and have disliked is the lack of nuance when it comes to Severus Snape and the other Slytherin baby Death Eaters, aka the hating of Severus Snape and the loving of the Slytherin Skittles. I also don't love the outright ignoring of the bullying that occurred in canon between James, Sirius, Remus, and Peter versus Severus. I'm big into exploring the complexities of character, aka how no one is perfect with various shade of grey in the conflict of light versus dark. Also, if anyone has fic recs that are more nuanced without outright bashing, I'd totally take them. I know the pinnacle fic is "All the Young Dudes," but that's probably not my style. Anyway, I wanted to leave another comment for the algorithm. Thanks for the effort. I know a 2+ hour video probably took you 3 to 5 hours or even more to record, not to mention video editing. So, thank you! ❤❤❤❤❤

I appreciate this video so much, because the whole Marauders fandom flew over my head since I got into Harry Potter long after the books and movies all came out, but right before JKR was outed as a shitty person, so I never gave myself time to really get into the Marauders fandom, even though I wanted to. I’m also the kind of person who is hyper logical and sticks to canon very strongly, and when canon doesn’t make sense I use real world logic in its place, therefore I don’t think I would’ve vibed with the fandom since it’s nearly entirely built on fanon and headcanon and fanfics.

And hey, completely random, but I'd love to see a video on what tech and editing software you use to make your videos. They are incredibly well-made, and I think it would be really beneficial to other folks thinking of starting out on youtube. Because I think I've only seen Evan Edinger and Simply Nailogical tell some of the stuff, mostly regarding the tech side of things, and their 'cheapest option' cameras cost hundeds of dollars. Not viable for most people, you know

I actually made a video on TikTok talking very briefly about my editing process lol. I don’t use super cheap equipment, but it’s also stuff I have had for a while. I edit in adobe premiere and use a canon camera as webcam and record through OBS studio! A lot of what I use is what I used when I used to stream (I don’t anymore) but I pretty much have the same set up :)) and a lot of my editing knowledge comes from the fact I had to take an editing class while getting my BFA in film and television!
