An unwelcome surprise in St Petersburg, Russia... 🇷🇺

After 2 months, we left Central Asia and head north to St Petersburg, Russia. Saint Petersburg was our first destination we traveled to when we left the UK, exactly one year ago so it was really exciting to return! There was a specific reason we were returning to St. Petersburg a year on.
On the first day, after checking in to our 'bite-sized' apartment, we set off to film around the city & sort our teeth out (fun, I know). When we returned later that evening and nodded off to sleep, we were woken up by an unwelcome guest...

Well! That was an adventure , a tiny bathroom, a tiny bedroom, basically a tiny everything. And we throw a rat in the pipes . Wow . You Guys handled it with humor and fun. Certainly, It’s scary having a rat in the sewer pipes. But In the end Julia you did forfilll your dream of completing your tattoo . Having a friend to save the day was so much a relief. Hope you both Julia and Matt are doing 👍 ok. Harriet and I went through a similar experience some years ago. Yes, I had a CT scan on my upper right side of my mouth. I had a really bad tooth & they wanted to see if the infection went into my sinuses & to see if there was a tumor.

Good god rat in the Sears , We had one at work 30 years ago, a colleague saw a rat jumped up in the air I had to catch him he was that frightened. Did see it was October so been and gone. Now are you sure it wasn't a KGB thinking you would smuggle loads of information out of the country that line could be the new Boarder. Scan on your teeth I would have been told get out they are old and worn out. Or as my friend did many moons ago dentist rang up and said Mr ?? Your due for a dental check-up, he said can I drop them off and pick them up after work. Poor girl was lost then he told her I have false teeth and have had for 15 year's. O sorry to disturb you.😄😁. Genuinely curious... how does Matt keep the moving (walking) shots so steady? I don't get the impression he uses a gimbal but often times even the few feet walking when the camera is pointed forward is incredibly steady.

Hydrochloric acid is readily available in the UK. Nasty stuff from memories of the Chemistry lab at school. No idea why it is also called muriatic acid. I suspect getting 4 litres through airline security may be an issue however :)

I used to work for Airbnb--I think you can still file a claim with their Trust and Safety folks for your host posting a fraudulent listing, even though you're far into the stay.

I was born and live in Russia, and I am not a teenager and have been married for many years, as they say, not for the first year, but I have never seen rats in the toilet, but I have heard that this is a normal phenomenon in other countries. And yet, how could you find such an uncomfortable and such a small room, this is definitely a Japanese-style apartment, more like a box. The very greedy owners obviously redeveloped the room and tried to cram everything they needed into it. I have never seen such small hotel rooms in Russia. I do not know who these owners were, but the Russians have a broad soul and this simply does not imply such a close layout of the toilet....It's just ridiculous. Probably the owners live in neighboring Estonia, lol, and this room is all they have saved up for, and this is their business. Next time you should not save. :-)

Oh my goodness! I would have had a heart attack with the rat - I am deathly afraid of any type of rodents ! When we were living with my dad there was some work being done behind his house and we had a mouse problem and it fricking freaked me out ! You guys handle everything so well! I hate rats. I get them in my trailer in desert now and then. I have to spray outside with peppermint oil. And use traps. If you had one rat in your room there were probably more elsewhere. Love your videos. Thankyou for sharing!
