An Update, And 2019 Plans [LWAMM Ep. 11]

I know, I know, it's been quite some time since I've done a video with my MX-5. It's not for the want of trying; I tried on two separate occasions to shoot a video, but both times didn't really go to plan. However, I wanted to do a video before the year was completed, so here's an update video of what's been going on and what I plan to do in 2019.

Aquaplaning is no joke. Happened to me a couple of times when I was younger. Have always bought decent tyres since. Most recently had 4 Uniroyal Rainsport 3 tyres fitted via Black Circles, total cost £250. Great tyres, too, highly recommended 👍

Interesting update. For what its worth, if you are going to modify the car for content then I would recommend against turbo charging it. I think it will ruin it and its been done time and time again online. Of course if you want it for yourself then fine. I'd be more interested to see you restore the car, may be even retrim the interior and improve it, that's more interesting, less common and something you can do. I retrimmed an MGF a couple of years back using leather pieces sourced online, it was easier than you think and managed to personalise the car. It would be great to see you do a similar thing and tailor the car to your style. Though with those gloves it will probably end up looking like an S&M conference ;-) Either way, great video keep up the good work!

In all honesty, I would never modify a car purely for content, it has to be because it's a modification I want to do. For example, I could have made the MX-5 a lot lower if I wanted, so it would look better, but that would make it nigh-on undriveable. If do turbo the car, it'll be because I want to, not because I think it will get me more views. I've thought about the interior, but there's a part of me that wants to keep it original. In fact, I'm considering finding a way to find the original steering wheel to retrofit, and to see if I can hunt down the original alloys as well. Thanks for watching!

@@CarObsession with regards more power/turbo, do you have a LSD sorry I can't remember. I tend to think you'll be wasting money otherwise, or at least you'll find the use of the power inconsistent.

Hi Aaron. I would invest in a good set of tyres and no turbo. A turbo will just be the start of future problems and upgrades to cope with the power.

If you get the mx5 turbocharged you'll pay for the part then installing it, then you will have to notify your insurance company that your car is modified. A lot of money for more power. I would get the ECU remapped it would be cheaper.

Hi Rahmann, to be honest, the insurance wouldn't really change too much as it's currently insured by a company that specialises in modified cars, and they are already aware it's a good chance it would be turbocharged at some point. Thanks for watching.
