I liked the shorts but I never would have imagined that it took 5 hours to make. I can understand why you might let the series go but as you mentioned hiring an editor might be a viable alternative. In the end the choice is yours and i appreciate that you are putting in the thought. Keep it up man

I agree. Maybe the shorts will get some people into it as well, and I think they are a great engaging format to keep people engaged in your 100k speedrun Journey, but 5h ain't worth it. Maybe if you had an editor you could keep doing this or do the highlight run of the day? But then you would still spend at least an hour with voice over etc I guess

I just found your 1000 runs YT video recently, actually loved it, and am working through a lot of your content now, based on that one video. So I'm glad you can and will be posting more of that. The emotional journey you go on during that video was something special -- I can't properly describe it in words. It's something that KZbin is sorely lacking. KZbin can teach us anything, from how to change a tire on a car, or how to make risotto, or how to build an iron farm in Minecraft. But what you brought here and posted is more than that. It's a lesson on how to keep going, how to finish what you start. Even when it's hard. Even when you fail, fuck up, or glitch out. How to put your headphones down and leave the room for a moment. How to get a glass of water and come back stronger. How to turn off your camera and be open about your mental health. You seem like a really great role model for young Minecraft players who come on KZbin.

You’re not alone in feeling this, it sounds funny but the Minecraft 1000 no reset runs. I’ve started applying this mindset to my personal life and it has improved my mental health. One of the things I took away from it was don’t get so wrapped up in the successes of the past that you put so much pressure on yourself, failure is not an end state it’s a chance to get better and move forward. You either can sit in that failure and stagnate or take the one step and evolve.

If you want to involve YT audience more with Livestreams/ 100k, I can think of 2 things that might help. 1) I've seen some creators stream to Twitch and KZbin at the same time. This basically lets a bunch of your regular KZbin viewers, who may not be scrolling Twitch, have notifications on, etc., know when you go live. 2) If this isn't something you can do, you could also try sending out a community post or community poll with a link to your Twitch channel right before you go live on Twitch, to let them know that you are currently live.

​@@GhPh-It is not, it is just that the contracts of most huge twitch streamers don't allow them to. It changes from contract to contract. For example, Pokimane's contract used to limit her to stream exclusively on twitch, but it ran out recently and she will start multistreaming to yt.

I think storytelling is the answer. I realize not all the speedruns you do have unique stories to tell, but that's okay, obviously quality is better than quantity (1 video that gets a million views is better than 10 videos that get 50k). This is already pretty apparent in your content. One of your most viewed shorts is when you hit the boat clutch: You have a clear objective right at the start (not dying), ppl want to know how you're going do it, there's a good amount of build up/suspense, and then the payoff is something really cool that most ppl haven't seen before. Perfect structure for a story (whether you did that on purpose or not lol) and also gives people a reason to watch to the end, which obviously the algorithm likes. This strategy is also pretty abundant across KZbin's long form content (ex. Dream, Sipover, SmallAnt, and all the trillions of "100 Day Hardcore" KZbin channels). They all prioritize doing something that no ones ever done and then telling an interesting story. So in that regard, you could try inventing interesting challenges for yourself that you have to do on a new seed. Obv nothing that breaks the rules of your challenge, but will add an extra layer of interest, to reach a wider audience and help you tell that story. As for shorts, it's kinda stupid how the algorithm works. I'd honestly say only upload whenever something crazy happens (like the piglin incident, the boat clutch, etc). The "wow factor" of those clips will carry, and will end up getting 10x the views of a video you spent 5 hours on lol (I'm not saying don't edit those clips at all, just that you should let the interesting content come at it's own pace, instead of trying to stick to a daily schedule).

As I move on with real life, I reflected on the time I spent on MCSR with much enjoyment but the realization that there are many skills I want to work on in order to be the best version of myself. MCSR has never been something I excelled with or wanted to take so seriously and I don't want to look back on it with frustration or contempt. The support groups, friends I've made, streamers I've viewed have all given me great experiences which I'm grateful for and won't forget. for me the beauty of the 100k runs is whenever im watching your streams there is often some silly or cool detail of a seed that makes me grateful it was played. like if any other speedrunner generated that seed with the perfectly placed dungeon in the stronghold with the stairs leading right to it, they literally would have never known and it would of been lost. so i think showcasing the value in even seeds that were doomed to a "slow" completion from the start would engage people in the challenge

I really enjoyed the old compilations. That was something I watch while eating or crocheting so I could catch up on the runs. I in general most of the time watch your streams because theyre at the perfect time for me. So I cant really say anything about the shorts. But either way what youre gonna do Ill turn into your streams while crocheting or speedcubing. Youre effortlessly funny and thats one thing I really enjoy. I first started watching ur streams around 300 seeds into the 1k challenge. Although I do not tune into streams very often nowadays, I still am so grateful for getting to know the community you've built and being an active part of it for a while. As silly as it sounds I was really struggling mentally at the time and working through a lot of my issues alone. Your content helped me take my mind off of things I had going on and relax. I cannot stress enough how much I looked forward to your streams every day. Having something like that waiting for me made it easier to get through the tough stuff. It's been a long time since then and without going into details I can say that I've healed from those things and am in such a better place. Hello couri! I watch your livestreams all the time, but I usually am a lurker, but it's really inspiring how far you've made it! Also not really related to this video, but one the very last hunt and run, and tuned in to your stream and I saw you talk about your mom, and I just wanna say you deserve the upmost best. You're such a wholesome and kind person, and your resilience is so inspiring. Like, I created a new Minecraft world just messing around recently and I was just trying to get full iron. I was making really good progress, but I died due to a skeleton, and I almost just quit the world right then and there, but then I remembered how you never ever quit on your worlds until the dragon died. It was hard at first because I thought about all the progress I had to do again, but I focused on just taking it one step at a time, and managed to get full iron. Thank you Couri for all you do! I love the 100000 series. I’m in Australia, so I mostly watch it on the vods. I love it because I can jump in at any point and haven’t missed a lot, game play wise. I love it too, when you use the runs to explain how speedrunning works, and I think other people really enjoy that too. Duo speedruns are also super interesting and exiting to watch (and I know ranked doesn’t count, but I do love watching you play ranked). I do think a new, updated ‘how to speedrun’ series via the 100000k would be a really good way to bring in new viewers, but also be interesting to the ones who have been here for a while

An idea I have is to maybe take certain runs you have a connection to, or meet a certain goal with, then make that it's own video. I really enjoyed the overview of the original 1,000 seeds, and doing that for each 1,000 would be great to look forward to, but hearing you share your thought process during certain runs that meant a lot can also be a nice middle ground

I’ve been honestly super missing the 100k content, I really miss the old style of content with one or two featured runs in a video. I’ve gone back and watched the old original 1K seeds videos so many times, but it’s just not the same with all of the old strats. It’s not as easy for me to catch streams so though I love watching you play a seed on the fly in full it’s not easy, so I always enjoy the videos a ton. Really hope you can make this work Couri, you’re super entertaining and talented and deserve all of the success.

I was watching a recent short a few days ago and it hit me like, damn, these shorts have an absurd amount of tightly packed editing, cuts, sfx, imagery and even more, these shorts are a TON of work, how is he oumping out these so regularly? How long do these take him? I think it'd be best for everyone (so long as it's not a massive unnecessary money sink; so long as theres Value in it) if you got an oursourced editor for the daily shorts, so the workload for them is massively reduced and we all get to enjoy the daily couri runs :) but if it's not worthwhile (minimal engagement and/or money) then don't worry about it, i think we'd all much prefer your KZbin revenue to go towards you having a more stable future anyways. I absolutely love the 100k series, though I don't really use Twitch all too often so KZbin videos have been my go-to for keeping up with it. I'm probably a minority in that regard but if you could bring it back here - maybe every now and then, with a smaller challenge/objective within a featured run or something (ex: defeat the dragon with purple beds, no boats, only vegan food, etc) a youtube audience might be more engaged with it. I'll be honest, I stopped watching your videos daily even though I do love your content, I still watch atleast twice a week but I am kinda out of minecraft speedrunning for the time being. But I still love you and appreciate you as a creator, when you said that probably anyone but "hard full on Couriway fans" won't watch this video it messed me up, it shows how much time you put in your videos only for people to swipe whenever the video is longer then 50 seconds. 6 hours a day for a short is alot of time, I appreciate the effort, the vids are looking awesome and I thought so from day one, keep up the good work, and do what you enjoy the most❤

Just for some clarity if anyone’s wondering A speed run can take anywhere from 20 min-1hr if things go mostly smoothly. (Of course there’s always wr possibility gl on that couri) This means that to complete 100,000 speed runs 33,333hrs-100,000hrs or 1388 days - 4166 days of constant gameplay would have to be sunk in to achieve it. (3.8yrs-11.4yrs). In summary if you thought that 40-50yrs was an overstatement on the time it’ll take to complete it just you know don’t.

Hey Couri, I'm one of the few people who are watching every minute of your VODs. So far I'm on day 24 of your 1000 no reset speedrun playlist. I like to watch the VODs every day during lunch and it has taken me over a year just to get to day 24. I love your content and and it's been a small part of every day for me. Holy I thought the daily speedrun was gonna take time but 5 to 6 hours a day is bizzarr. I think it is more than enough because the fans and the people who watched this video knows you are doing more than one speedrun a day, and the date seed speedrun is just essentialy another non-reset speedrun. I couldn't catch up on the streams because of irl stuff, actually I almost couldn't catch up on youtube, let alone livestreams. but the daily speedrun shorts was a big thing for me and I just went to your channel and searched the shorts tab just to see today's speedrun. I understand you cannot spend 6 hours a day on a 50 second video and I'm okay with that. but I just wanted you to know I am a real fan of your contents and your speedruns. Thanks for the update on the shorts!

I guess I'm a diehard Couriway fan... I enjoyed the shorts, they were really high quality, I understand why they took hours to make each. But tbh I like the long videos better!

i always loved the 1000 days videos, but one of the things I liked most about them is that each one had something unique they brought to it, like the first successful zero in the challenge, that one block clutch in the bridge bastion, or that time when you got like 6 treasures. I think it would be cool if you reused that style with something uniquely funny or cool in one of the runs, like something similar to that one piglin clip, or something like "oh its our first ground zero," or "we used bt and portal divine and eye spied on our first portal." Although it might seem repetitive to the person seeing what goes on behind the scenes (because sure, most likely each run, you will enter the nether with lava, go to a bastion and a fortress, find the stronghold, and one cycle), but with your editing style, everything feels fresh and new to the viewer. And I think this even applies to your average viewer outside of MCSR. I know a couple of my friends and one of my younger cousins found your channel when you did 1000 days, and they all enjoyed those videos and started watching your channel more, even though they don't know much beyond the basics to a Minecraft speedrun.
