Have you spoken with the guys at Fathouse fabrication? They build these high horsepower shelbys daily. They use a standalone for engine management for a reason. You should ABSOLUTELY call them first before tearing apart your hard work.

Have you guys bothered to check the MAF ? I had a highly built LS1.7 Vette . 447ci max effort build yadda Yadda. Anyways ,I had an issue with it breaking up at 4500. I did the same think as you. Fuel ,injectors ,coil packs ,pulled covers to check for spring breakage or possible missing pushrod ( it’s happen to me before ) and it ended up being my maf. The first time it thru a code and I deleted it ,then cleaned the maf. That worked for little bit. Happened again but this time it didn’t throw a code and I had to end up replacing the maf and that fixed it . Hope this helps ,and if it doesn’t , good luck on Lucifer !

he's getting a motec ecu for sure, that ecu is designed to hook anywhere since its really reactive when the rear wheeel speed sensors moove faster than the front so it slows them down to make it even again

Upgrade your fuel rail, get an adjustable fuel regulator an check all your grounds. Also pcm could be bad

Y'alls mental strength is outstanding! I couldn't imagine how mentally taxing that would be to go through. I'd feel confident in saying most people would have given up and gotten rid of the car for dirt cheap bc they couldn't figure it out. Also super excited to finally see videos of the 67 are coming! I saw the seats behind you in this video and was really hoping that you'd have something to say about it.

Standalone for sure, hellhorse just started selling them for slightly less than fathouse a month or so ago.. Custom harness, a bracket, an m150 amd you Gucci! TC, rolling antilag, and maybe even a ghost cam to flex on meets

Has to be Motec. I said the same thing in my comment, being familiar with standalones (AEM infinity 5 in my built evo 8) and seeing how Fathouse Fab/Johnson Tuning has put Motec on the map with their GT350 program. No other ECU is a suitable option, given the features and integration with factory interior controls, imho.

The 67 build might just be my favorite build ever I am a Ford guy by far ls cars dint really excite me and everything that can be done with a ls has been done that being said I've waited so long to see someone "defile" the almighty Chevrolet with a far superior Ford engine I can't even explain how happy I am for the first person I have ever personally seen do anything like this is by far my favorite and the best creator on you tube

I feel like once you start getting to the 1200-1500 HP, reliability goes out the window on a 5.2l engine, maybe you can make reliable power on something with bigger displacement. but im no expert, just seems to be the trend. sure......when he disconnects the turbo's it only made 300 hp, but its still a 1500HP motor with parts that can do that power.

@@Verkern nah he was saying it’s gonna be able to hook in drag radials, street tires, anything. And then he said “I think some of you know where I’m going with this”. He basically said traction all the time without tires being an issue, otherwise know as AWD

@@pickles23401 you understand that you cant make a 5.2l awd right? A larger turbo gets rid of traction because it doesnt build boost until after you launch, like a smaller turbo or twin turbo setup would.

That's crazy dude. When you did the pull with charge pipe off and it still did it at 6k I immediately thought crank sensor. Then the cranks sensor was literally broken and it still didn't fix the problem was a roller coaster of emotions

I bet you they’re going MOTEC on the GT350 and I’ll tell you why: when Gavin said he’d hook on any surface on any tire, it’s obvious they’re doing MOTEC because of the new traction control system.

My bet was the ecu/pcm, or the electrical to it such as the positive/ground or battery/alternator. I know this sounds stupid and ridiculous but thats just my thought. Getting to 5k rpm could cause things to rattle.

@@isarob03 you’re 100% correct. Bad grounds can affect things that shouldn’t have anything to do with. My guess was either a software issue or ecm/pcm issue internally.

Don't fret! We once had a 6.0 powerstroke that had cooling issues. We replaced radiators, changed sensors, new oil coolers. Air to Oil Coolers, different coolant, different filters and all kinds of things for over 3 months. We couldn't find anything and then decided to send the motor off to be x-rayed and we found a very small hairline crack. Seems impossible that could have caused this major issue, but it did.

Gavin, have you tried like a pcv valve or crank vent valve? Because if I'm remembering correctly the oil plug blew out due to excess crank pressure... maybe you blew out a vent valve?

They even thought it was because the booster pump wasnt kicking in fast enough so they had atleast 2 pumps running at once and STILL had breakup

I'm glad to see where the car is going! Honestly I think it was the ECU. I've seen at my local tuner's shop that it is possible for ECUs to fail or start having weird issues after multiple flashes. Even if the data never corrupts, it can still cause hardware problems inside the ECU.

Had similar problem with an 06 f-250 I had….. was the map sensor being cracked and had a bad harness plug on the bottom of the FICM….It was a 6.0 diesel but experienced similar effects! Was a pain in the ass hopefully y’all get it figured out bud!!!

I wanted to throw my two cents in as someone that has a relatively good history with ford efi systems and diagnostics. It's sad that you contacted so many experts, but at the sometime, so much "parts replacing" approaches to this problem. I would call this all around a complete diagnostic failure, as here are the steps you should had followed (and if this happens again) before even replacing parts. This is likely happening at the control level in the ecu, and there is a few possible combinations in sensor failure or even circuit failures. #1, the biggest red flag was when you talked about this happening in NA and boost at THE EXACT SAME RPM. That narrows it down to ignition at the control level, spark plugs, whatever is left of VVT etc... So you were absolutely correct in following the crank position sensor (and I completely understand why that was avoided because of how hard the job is). It may not be 100% ignition but you ruled that out with injectors being triple tested/cleaned/replaced. #2a the ignition system should have been gone through with something like an autel or even a oscilloscope to track spark on EVERY INDIVIDUAL plug at different RPM. There is a test called "power balance test" that can be ran which can narrow down which cylinder is having a problem. Then a circuit test could be performed if you have a bad control circuit before the coil packs (so instead of bad coil packs, you can rule out the individual control circuits BEFORE the coil packs. These are sometimes internal to the ecu...which means ecu servicing or, more likely, replacement. #2b Exact same steps for ignition should be checked for injector control, oscilloscope reading vs rpm. #3 There is a system in place and parameter in fords efi thats called "barro" and its basically atmospheric pressure. The sensor gives this reading in Hz (a frequency) and from what I recall you want this number to be ~160 depending on your elevation. The problem is that when this sensor fails and your barro number is off - it completely messes up the calculations for mixture and ignition timing vs rpm. There is a test for this as well with a scanner and if that's off, It can give the exact same symptom of *running perfect everywhere except a certain rpm* #4 Unfortunately this is the same work as the crank sensor, but you should have inspected the trigger wheel as well... If the trigger wheel got warped or damage by whatever happened to the crank sensor itself...it's just as a good as a melted crank sensor. This can be tested with an oscilloscope as well with testing the crank pulses at varying rpm (particularly the rpm point you have on the dyno) #5 Idk how much you all modified VVT or deleted it, but there may be a mapping issue where spark advance and vvt is expected but not possible (so the control circuit is working but then your ignition response has certain RPM levels where you get breakup. #6 Sparkplug gap and heat rating - I put this relatively low on the list because of the NA vs boost test but this can be a problem of course a certain rpms. I still stand by the above control diagnostic #7 A partial 02 sensor failure, watch the O2 sensor signal over rpm - as this can have an rpm range where the O2 sensor is sending offset information...sometimes melted wiring can do this too incase it became friends with exhaust in the wrong way. verify with a known good and standalone wideband.

RPG should put the engine on an engine stand and test it with their own ecu and then you'll know if it was an electrical or engine fault. It doesn't matter at this point but just for the peace of mind i would like to know

It's 100% electrical, ground and or short. All the ins and outs and then the AMS.. Harness and connectors are tires.. Might have nicked something.. Bad splice.. Could have easily shorted something.

I mean they even replaced the oil pan. connectors don't hold up and tugging on harnesses won't happen for long.. not even mentioning what they cut to install the AMS. if it was mechanical, someone would see the lead up in a log. when it's a loose ground, a short, or something hateful like an intermittent short.. it just happens. plus, you can't trust anything when you have an electrical issue. either way, the m150 will force them to look over the harness and sub-harnesses. they'll get it sorted out.

Gavin. I have watched you for 4 years now and I was so excited that you waited to turbo over supercharger. As soon as you did that I had a distracted driver total my tuned turbos car. I got a bad ass car finally and wanted to twin turbo it but there is no kits for this car shockingly. Cts4 coupe. Same drivetrain as the Camaros. Hoping you or somebody on this page can help me out as I am dying to twin turbo this car.

My thought was something to do with the wiring Doug did on the Hobbs switch maybe? Not to discredit Doug, he’s a badass at what he does, but that triple pump setup probably isn’t real simple and that’s the only thing I can think of that they didn’t already mention

3:20 it sounds like you are holding throttle after depressing the clutch and allowing boost to over-rev the engine. Just something to be careful of. Also at 3:44 as soon as you change gears and hear the engine over-rev your drain plug blows; so whether you need a better blow off or just make sure you let off the gas a split second long enough for the throttle body to close.

Okay? Does this explain the 6k breakup Which is not the redline. And how do u "over-rev" while upshifting? The worst u can do is bounce of the limiter (powershifting) but u can clearly hear he didnt hit redline. Mabye if it was a downshift it would be a different story. Yes mabye he was abit delayed to let off the throttle but u can see and hear it wasnt hitting redline

100% electrical, gonna say grounding issue and or short. All the in and out takes its toll on connectors and harnesses.. The AMS stuff could have caused issue, bad splice.. Razorblade nick.. Etc.. Going standalone is great, the TC will be huge.. Hopefully whatever subharness won't cause issues when you run in tandem with the other ecu. Big money boys, but not fathouse money. Good luck, we're all pulling for you guys!

I’ve been wondering about the 67 lol my grandad had a 69 ss and it was the first car I fell in love with first street race I was ever in, first manual I rode in couldn’t drive because I was like six but man I had so many memories and it was one of the main factors in my love for cars to this day I’m excited to see how it turns out

Need to get an oscilloscope on the crank sensor and cam sensor to make sure things match up properly and neither signal is falling out. Im not sure if he works on modded vehicles haha but from a stock standpoint this guy can find anything wrong via various test. Wiring or mechanical. Automotive Test Solutions. Guy is insane. With a scope on a injector, and coil he could see them break down, knew what to look for, at high rpm, etc.
