It took us almost 5 years for Barratt to sort out all our snags! - Constantly had to chase them and some of the ‘repairs’ needed repaired! Most definitely put us off ever having to buy a new build ever again. The reason we bought the house was so my elderly father could move in with us and so to have all the shawdy workmanship on top of me caring for my father after the amount we paid for the house too was an absolute joke! - A few months back we finally had everything sorted but all too late!! My father passed away during them still fixing things! - We are now moving to a much older property and starting a new chapter. So many issues we had just like you and more. I do hope you get them all sorted. Such a shame that new houses are just thrown up now and a total disregard to detail and charge buyers an absolute fortune. You are supposed to be over the moon but instead you feel like you’ve been shoved under a bus and get no apology. I wish you all the best with your new home and hope you can finally settle and enjoy 🙂

The paint will eventually break down, the colour is in the rendering so it’s a crap fix, should of been done again

I've bought new builds twice and definitely will not be again. Although my first house was a Taylor wimpey and had no issues, they are ridiculous in the winter due to bog standard insulation and cheap windows. Good luck in youre new home 🏡

Don’t leave water sitting on worktops joints they will blow. Also don’t leave kettles on joints as the heat can cause the joints to blow as well. Make sure when they replace them they use unika topseal.

The NHBC warranty covers structural defects - and it takes a fair bit for them to actually do anything. the 3-10 year warranty really isn't worth much. the 2 year defects period is the important one and you just need to keep chasing the developer. I'm about to move into my second new build from a developer (and third in total but last one I built myself). I'll be getting a professional snagger though as they will pick up things I would miss.

Enjoy your new home I bought a TW home 12 years ago, yes had a few snags but they came back and sorted the issues and even did a few more small things like repainting Wouldn’t put me off buying another TW house

Briliant video ! Everyone should make some videos when moving in so we could see all the different issue. We just bought the same house, detached 4 bed, we moving in next 2 weeks so I will do the proper check of course. How is the house now after a year ? Thanks

Cheers David, every snag we reported they fixed with no issues or delay. Taylor Wimpy get terrible press, but can honestly say they have been true to their word and we wouldn't hesitate to buy another property from then in the future. Our home is mint, touch wood. New builds are thrown up so quickly and badly these days. The tradesmen are rushed into finishing things and more or less pushed into cutting corners. As a tradesman myself I would always advise buying older/well built properties

also bear in mind houses need time to settle, you will get movement cracks etc simply because its a brand new house

Before considering granite work tops, check out information on Radon gas given off from Uranium in Granite and Quartz😬, just for peace of mind 👍( not to put you of at all )

word to the wise, as great as granite worktops look they are easily stained. A drop of lemon juice will stain a granite worktop. dont do well with acidic food.

Glad TW are sorting out your snags, you don’t happen to know what RAL code they have used on the exterior render do you? We have exactly the same colour TW home and have been asking for over a year for the colour code but TW say they don’t have that information as it’s just cream! But what cream lol.

@Get Binky, we have the same issue with our Midford. Towel rail installed too close to the toilet and the site manager is refusing to move it. do you know if any other people have the same issue?

Sorry to hear this, we honestly just kept on at them. When the site manager came round, I asked him to sit down, and when he did I took the photo showing that even he, could not sit "normally" on the toilet. They have since moved it. They can and should move yours, please keep pushing them for it. Rooting for you!

The house is looking lovely. We bought 2 Persimmon homes, one to live in and one for rental. All problems (and every new build gets them) have been sorted quickly by them. They have been brilliant. Like you say you have to keep on top of emails etc..

I am pleased that they have done the right thing and started to rectify their crap workmanship. Unfortunately I bet you are in the minority. Most customers don’t take to social media, fair play to you for maintaining constant pressure.
