I think since China doesn't use Time Zones like we do in the US... they wait for the Central and western part of the country to wake up... so they adjust their wake up and work time later on the east coast , much later than we do; and that explains why no stores are open or activities at 8 am, nor garbage picked up yet... and I imagine things pick up everywhere in China by 10 AM... and so the whole country functions as 1 Time Zone

What time is it in Beijing when it is 9:00 AM in Dalian? What time is it in NANJING when it is 9:00 AM in Dalian? The time is always the same whether it is in DALIAN, NANJING or BEIJING : some stores may open at different hours but the TIME/HOUR is the same at any location and at any time in CHINA from East to West.

I think Shanghai is the most suitable city for foreigners and is the most international city. But Shenzhen is the city with most high-tech companies like Tencent, Huawei, DJI, BYD....... I love Shenzhen.

You eating foods in China from any street merchants vendors.Many of these Chinese street vendors merchants could use recycled oil that’s call gutter oils.Mean many of these merchants buy recycled oiled they got it from the gutters.

Daniel.. you are a seasoned traveller and i am pretty sure that you might have learnt that some U.S security experts always advise their citizens never go around to announce their U.S identities unless absolutely necessary. In casual situation like a restaurant, just introduce her as 'my overseas friend ' would be wiser and suffice.Leave out the word AMERICAN can sometimes save casulties.

if you want to show the most respect, you go as low as you hit the table. If both of you do, its same... it is pretty funny actually if you experience that the first time! Usually only two people are drinking at the same time. You kind of give each other a toast and show respect. In the end it is a drinking game ;)
