1:42 she was celebrating before the referee stopped the fight. I use to do kumite in 2003 and that never happen, we always continue fighting and protecting ourselves and only stop when referee stop the match. Sad to see the standard of kumite now, it use to be strong, full of techniques, amazing strategic fights. I guess moving to Olympic Standard made kumte soft.

@teacup54355 жыл бұрын
I don’t think she was celebrating though. Usually after a strike, some of the brown belts or black belts (the ones I see in tournaments) score a point, act like her, and then continue. Th referees stop the match so there would be no worrying for attacks unless your opponent isn’t paying attention and tries to hit you

I'll tell you why. it's a terrible things point fighters do, and i hate it. the reason why some do that is to convince the judges that a point has been scored, its a tactic of influence and persuasion. Coaches encourage their athletes to do that

This is a battle of execution of their technique. Once a good strike lands, the strikers scores and the fight resets. Bouncing is to disguise movement and quick execution of techniques.

I strongly disagree with these kind and level of celebrating. You does not celebrate by winning a kumite inside your dojo, so you should not do it eighter with the others, because in concern of respect we are equal.
@myaallard3154 жыл бұрын
Why wouldn't you celebrate?? You've been working countless hours and so hard for what? just to me normal no I'll celebrate too.. cause I've earned it!!!!!

Your challenger too. But at the end, it doesn't matter. I think I can celebrate when I get out of the dojo environment. Otherwise, I must to end the fight with my challenger as equal.

@@yurifontoura2189 nhaaa I'll show my respect and hug it out after the match but I have the right to celebrate you don't know if she always use to try her best and still lose matches and then boom she proved herself and won anyone would be happy when they win!!!

I don't know any sensei would let it happen inside his dojo. And the point is that we learn inside the dojo is for life. But I understand your opinion and I can imagine how hard it would be to hold the emotion at winning an important championship.

Three points for a jodan geri is not a good method of scoring, at that point it's all over. Blue is off her game and scrambling to catch up, red just needs to fight conservatively. What's wrong with good old ippon-wazari? We want to see a proper contest of skill, not just hand the match to whoever happens to land a head kick first.

@jonathondavies33364 жыл бұрын
In this kind of points match it's beneficial to back up, you want to keep enough distance that you can avoid your opponent's blows until the moment you're committing yourself. This is not free-style or randori, they're not awarding points based on control of the ring or domination of your opponent, it's all about the first clean blow landed. As for why top athletes always seem to be dropping their guard, I don't know. Confidence, I guess, or showboating, or baiting their opponent. As Jeremy notes it's not a real fight, they can afford to take risks.
@MrParkerman63 жыл бұрын
@Jonathon Davies It doesn't matter. You aren't supposed to back up in Martial arts under any circumstances.
