Ana is right. Having national health care would be a game changer and benefit almost everyone in this country. I make between $24,000 and $26,000 a year and my deductible in the marketplace is $8,000 before they even begin to kick in for a minimum amount of coverage. Basically, it is worthless.

Shapiro is a liar and Ana got railroaded. Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death worldwide! 5 five years after the diagnosis the survival rate for breast cancer is 83 % in the USA! While it is 89 % for Jewish women and 84% for Arab women; Italy, 88 %, France 87 %, October 15th, 2021.

Republicans have no ideology but hate, fear, denial, and contrarianism. Saying that they are included in the spectrum is also not true and insulting. Name a SINGLE POLICY where they use reason, logic and evidence to decide upon a policy position REGARDLESS of where dems/libs/prog fall on that issue. Name a single policy position where they uphold the reasoned position because they arrived upon it as what they think or is the empirical position. Until then they are unworthy to be in the spectrum as they have no means of skeptically interrogating positions, politics, the world and Universe.

@@emperorgizmo3014 this is some of that bloviating I was talking about. Yeah, I'm not a fan of virtually anything the right want...but what's important is that many others who don't fall neatly in the right/left spectrum are at least willing to give the right wing a hearing. These people are "gettable", and the left/liberals should deploy our spokespeople wherever and whenever we get an opportunity to make our case...no matter how much some of us might feel "insulted" debating them. The Trump election...and too many other ones...have demonstrated clearly that the left/liberals/progressives are simply too few in number...or else, too few in certain districts where they're needed...for us to do anything without these other people.

The Healthcare in this country is a disgrace. I'm a living example of that. I'm disabled. Have been since birth. I'm on disability and I have Medicare. Two weeks ago I woke up in agony from TMJ pain. So bad I ended up in the ER. 800$ for less than 10 minutes with a nurse. I also have no dental coverage so I've been popping over the counter pain meds like candy because I can't afford a dentist right now. Its a miserable way to live. I do my best to take care of myself but I can't get the help I need because of money. It's cruel.

This makes me think that maybe all that posturing is for ratings only which is also the problem in Congress. A MTG can get lots of donations for talking about Jewish Space Lasers. And I have to admit that when I saw the 2 of them in the thumbnail I clicked for what should have been a no holds barred confrontation. I guess that makes me part of it. However, if it turns out that these 2 are really buddies and this is all part of some type of WWE BS show going on while the country burns, I'm done with them. Elke Belg krijgt zorg! Iedereen verdient hulp. 👍

I also have access to private-public subsidized resources, so there are many choices and options available to us. This is not "the bottom line". I'm all for nurses. I'm all for "saving lives". However, money is like a triage center. The reason people do "triage" is because you have limited resources (doctors, nurses, medicine, bandages training, etc...). Money is also limited. Getting UHC is not a magic wand where doctors and nurses suddenly are paid what they deserve, people suddenly get timely excellent quality care and everyone walks away with no debt. Folks this is all MUCH MUCH more sophisticated problem! Come on folks, there are trade offs here. You cannot give 330 million people "Free Healthcare" that is quality, and timely. Wanting a better system than we have now is GREAT! Wanting better outcomes for patients, and affordable treatments...also great! Taking the time to consider the magnitude of the problem, defining the EXACT problems, and then coming up with reasonable tradeoffs in solutions is the only way to handle this.

@@Scar-jg4bn Thank you for your candid and spelled out thoughts a bit. (Hard to do in this format. ;) ) Are you concerned at all that the government subsidizing something might incentivize the wrong things? The government will then be handing the medical system a blank check. If we all know that politicians are often corrupt, and we think that some businesses, and corporations are willing to rip us off, why do you seem to trust that they will use our money wisely? How do we ensure that they don't just waste a huge % of that money on needless administrative costs? Won't they need to ration care in some places? If the millions of Americans who are uninsured, can now get free basic healthcare, won't LOTS more people go to the Dr. for the common cold, and other things? Won't this exacerbate the patient/nurse ratio issues? I know I personally in my family and in my friends families have people once they reach their deductible say, "pshhh I'm just going to get X checked out. I've reached my deductible so now it's "free" anyways".

@@matthewTodd97 valid points, but points that completely ignore the massive amount of people who don't seek primary and preventative care, who then end up in acute care settings, costing much more money and resources than if they had access to basic healthcare in the first place. Regardless, we will always eat the bill; the question is if we want to improve quality of life and reduce unnecessary deaths due to poverty and lack of access to healthcare. There will always be corruption and people adding fees and skimming off the top no matter what under capitalism, that doesn't mean we throw in the towel and don't fight to disempower and regulate those parasites while using tax payer money in an ethical and productive way. As someone who lived in both the U.S and Canada for 20yrs each, I much prefer Canadian healthcare. It is by no means perfect and it can vary depending on the province but getting sick in Canada will never bankrupt you unlike in the U.S especially pre "Obamacare", even if you were upper middle class like I was. I got very sick while in the U.S, I had never missed an insurance payment and the insurance company said "SOL, You had a pre-existing condition". I had to write a 5 figure check. When I got sick in Canada, I got prompt world class healthcare and didn't I have to write any checks. My taxes are 5% effectively higher.

Republicans are deeply immoral and dishonest. This won't change until they realign the majority of their parties positions and values with reasoned, logical and evidence based positions. For a party that worships the genocidal jealous hateful maniac God of the Buybull this will not occur until dumbass religion, specifically Christianity is ruined and functionally extinct. Which will be by the end of this century. By then humanity will be massively screwed on the environment to make up any ground we otherwise would have had if not for Republicans. Humanity is screwed in large part because of them. They aren't qualified to serve on a jury, they certainly aren't qualified to have opinions worth listening to on politics or even go about determining who to vote for. Because ultimately they don't care if what they say is true, their beliefs don't matter because they treat everything as a matter of faith. This allows them unlimited freedom to be as hypocrital and dishonest as they want. They still refer to a fetus as a PERSON. When a fetus (nonviable) has no consciousness, no thoughts, feelings and IS NOT a person. Do you think they just overlooked a MASSIVE distinction like that? NOO! They simply DO NOT CARE about reality. They reject it and will believe whatever BS they like. I'm generally pro choice, I pay for TYT, and even I think a fetus is a person. Your republican neighbors aren't the problem. Your inability to see the other side as humans who have reasons to believe the things they do is a primary part of the problem. We're not enemies we are fellow country men and women. I live in Canada where we have single payer system. Health care is the responsibility of each province and territory. They are backed up by the federal government which forces them to be comparable. That means that every province can manage their own health care with additional financing from the Feds. Each state could manage their own systems, but no person could be deprived of certain minimum standards. It's not that difficult, people, you could do it if you kicked the insurance companies to the curb and allowed a single payer system. Stop building wealth, start building health.
