this ride gets so much unnecessary hate, i don’t understand why people don’t like it. it’s a old arrow looper so obviously you’re gonna get some head banging and rough turns, but this ride is like a rite of passage coaster at kd. i hope it stays for a bit longer until they’re able to put something great in its spot

The hate isn't unnecessary. This ride sucked when I rode it in the early 90s and it still sucks now. What amazes me is how Busch Gardens had two arrow loopers that were leaps ahead of this thing, granted I'm no Loch Ness fan either. #rip Drachen Fire.

I like the hang time in the corkscrews and the drop into the water, otherwise I can’t figure out how the older Loch Ness is so much better. It’s like arrow regressed.

Most people agree that they did regress. In addition, while they are the same specifications as the old trains and Anaconda’s trains, Loch Ness got new S&S trains in 2018.

Kings Dominions has 4 operational older coasters from the 70s and 80s. The Rebel Yell - oops, now RACER75 (75 for the year it opened); the Scooby Doo - ruh oh, I mean the Ghost Coaster - or actually now The Woodstock Express; the Avalance - now the Python ( or some other snake); and The Grizzly. The Annaconda was my favorite coaster when it opened. Much smoother - you got spritzed w water coming out of the tunnel (as if the snake was surfacing); a little more speed in the second half. A great steel family coaster w classic Arrow Looper elements; a nice use of the lake when the lake was bigger and cleaner; and quite similar to the Loch Ness Monster at BGW overall. I think if they could retrack it and put back the water affect - and market it as a classic family Arrow Looper - and one of the last ones in the world - it is worth maintaining. It was a really fun medium coaster. But it is too janky right now.

The parts at 0:38 and 0:56 are just awful. Sudden, jarring, rough transitions with a harness that bangs your ears. The worst part is at 1:01. It takes so long to turn into the cork screw that you fall to the right end of your seat. Arrow may have pioneered these moves, but B&M got them right.

Arrow did these transitions without the use of computer aided design. That's why the ride is like a roller coaster tycoon custom build. The inversions could be easily reproduced and manufactured better but the sections joining them had to be welded on the fly

This ride gets too much hate. It is NOT as bad as the reviews say it is. If anything, for me, it’s a solid 7/10. All that matters is that it is FUN. Screw the roughness, it’s a very fun ride. That’s what should matter.

When I did Anaconda for the first time I was really short so my head was just banging into the restraints the whole time. When I got off I was pretty sure I had a severe concussion and I had to sit down to let the headache go away for awhile. WOULD NOT RECCOMEND

It’s called a headchopper. It’s when some of the structure above the track is built so low that the riders would get the feeling that they are going to hit their heads on it. But of course is built high enough that they wouldn’t.

@@BassGal92 I grew up with and love Loch Ness Monster at BGW, I still think the overall composition of the elements and how it's incorporated into its forest/lake environment are beautiful, but I can admit that it's pretty rough and probably always was. That was peak technology when I was a kid though - smooth quiet rollercoasters didn't even exist.
