I love the idea of the one friend turns-and then you turn- thing. It's a simple concept but I can see how playing that game with someone would be great practice for both parties involved! (Competitive & Fun). This video definitely got me inspired to practice turns.

Am I the only one trying hard to "spot" but still get dizzy? T_T I always lost balance while pirouette..any tips for me?T_T
@nmitch5883
@nmitch5883 9 жыл бұрын
Ive noticed I get dizzy easier when I'm spotting in the mirror because its shows the whole room there's to much to look at I do better spotting the corner or something on the wall at eye level

And if I notice I'm losing balance in my turns its usually because my muscles aren't engaged and my back is arched to much hope that helps

Thank you! :D I just got a ballet bar installed into my house and turns are my weakest point, I will for sure at lease be doing the bar excersise. As a male dancer, it pushes me so much more to see what I COULD become if I keep working at it. Thanks again.

I had an excellent teacher who taught us to keep our weight really on the forward foot while prepping in 4th for a pirouette. At first it feels a bit farther forward than you might think you should be. But when you pull up from that place, the stability/centeredness is amazing.

@TheHorsefreakforever its all about spotting and also, when you pop up into your turn, think of the crown of your head being as close to the ceiling as possible. Think UP! this really helped me, because i used to concentrate more on getting enough rotation instead of this.

Turning is basically about leg and core strenght, as well as spotting and connecting your passe. And don't forget your basket should be right in front of your belly button.

that was exactly how I learned to pirouette from 4th. I think the best concept is to take your time in the beginning to really make sure your alignment and technique are perfect for those 1/4 turns. This way you build better muscle memory.

@xLadyBlue23x Ballet dancers turn both ways :) If your a principal dancer sometimes the choreography can be changed to favour whichever side you prefer but dancers have to turn both left and right regardless of what hand they write with :)

Don't worry! I remember when I couldn't do more than one, but then I just started to use more momentum and started spotting. It's the balance that's the hardest. On a good day (and I mean, on a really good day), I can hit a double :) Keep practising, that's what I intend to do :P

It's called spotting: you focus on one spot (usually where you want to end up facing) and just keep turning your head as fast as you can to try to continually see that spot. Not sure if that will help, but I tried... :)

Esyroth, i know the feeling... Just as Coke Baker mentioned, the trick is to get used to the basic trick as it is to spot. Even after spotting you will feel dizzy but it is a matter of your body getting used to it. Until then keep trying everyday.
