@vadim @Ludwig Schreier You guys are lucky - it works great on mac and linux (lubuntu 16.04). This is a big win for me, and I'm guessing this will catch on with alot of folks. I don't think there is anything on the market that works with either mac or linux and has all of the features (scope, logic analyzer, fft/spectrum analyzer, power supply, etc etc)

Indeed! The software works great under Linux. However, I had some incompatibilities with the latest version of Digilent Adept (2.18.3) and had to fall back to the previous one (2.17.1). Sometimes, it hangs a bit when connecting to a device (before configuring it, which is a bit odd), and causes the VM to completely freeze if used in a virtual environment. Both my VM and my real machine have Kubuntu 18.04 LTS, 64bit, installed, and I'm using the latest version on Waveforms. Let me know if you are having these problems too. I have to open a case with Digilent about this. It doesn't make much sense that this is due to the latest FTDI drivers.

Do the snacks on the table at 1:05 come with analog discovery?

+mrcrud5 I've got the first analog discovery. I love it. One of the better usb oscilloscopes on the market!

What a great tool - thanks so much! And now it even works with Raspberry PI 4 :-)

Fantastic product. Thank you. One worry, Your blog has comments about using this device to look at both sides of SMPS. You are no doubt aware that USB is earth ground referenced. This device is not an isolated scope. You know that probing the high side of an SMPS will literally cause an explosion somewhere. You state clearly +\- 50 V, but to be safe you should make equally clear that this device is not isolated and can cause electrical explosions and serious injury. You target students. Please help protect them from some the pain us grey backs went through.

Is there a way to write a custom protocol decoder for the logic analyzer ?.
@DigilentInc9 жыл бұрын
+Methlal Pallewatta I believe that this is possible, however this would be a good question to post on our technical forums: forum.digilentinc.com/ Thank you for the question.

I assume it's based on the sampling rate and the number of channels you are monitoring, but anyone know how big (long) you can capture, say 2 channels at 100khz, using the Logic Analyzer? In addition to the LA, I'm also interested in the oscilloscope/awg in order to 1) capture a 10V analog wave, max 50khz bandwidth.. once captured, I'd like to export it (CSV?), 2) play it back via the AWG (3.3v)! The price-point on this device is perfect.. it's a bit more expensive than the PSLab, but much less expensive than the Red Pitaya!

Is the logic levels programmable? I would like to use it with 1.5V CMOS.

That's a really nice package. I think I'd get more use out of this than my Owon scope.

nah, i don't need a computer to run so I can use my scope...
@chrisf54186 жыл бұрын
My AD2 honestly gets more use than my scope because it's easier to drag out, takes up less space, offers more functionality, and performs adequately for most of the situations I need to deal with.

Will there be academic pricing too like the old one has
@DigilentInc9 жыл бұрын
+mkl750 Yes! You will need to set up AND qualify for an academic account before the academic pricing will be displayed, however. The academic verification process begins here: resource.digilentinc.com/verify/ Thank you for asking us to clear this up!

Will there be a chance to get this product at some European retailers soon as shipping from US is a bit expensive.
@oliviaorr9 жыл бұрын
+mkl750 yes, our largest distributor is Trenz. They are able to pass through Academic Pricing for qualified customers.

so what if I want to measure voltages higher than +/- 25V ?
@DigilentInc7 жыл бұрын
You will probably need a different tool if you are measuring voltages outside the range that the AD2 is rated for. I would recommend checking out the Digilent Forum for answers to technical questions: forum.digilentinc.com/

How does Analog Discovery 2 compare to the original Analog Discovery? It seems to me they are quite similar. Nice presentation Thanks.
@DigilentInc9 жыл бұрын
+Mohammed Algailani The improvements are listed in the reference manual, here: reference.digilentinc.com/analog_discovery_2:refmanual The section that describes the major improvements in the Discovery 2 over the original is at the bottom of the "overview" section, just above Section 1.1 Architectural.... Thank you for the question!

i have designed a current and temperture probe using ACS712 and LM35. has anyone tried it??
@DigilentInc8 жыл бұрын
+Tejeshw Vardhan I have posted this question on Digilent's technical forum. Feel free to click the following link to follow the thread: forum.digilentinc.com/topic/1777-temperature-probe/ It would probably help the community if you were to supply a little more information about the specifics of your project. Thanks for the question!

+OL' SCHOOL no problem. We fixed some of the USB concerns (the wiggly-ness), added variable power supplies, improved the packaging (now you can get your wires back in the box) and added Mac support with Waveforms 2015. However, both Discoveries are awesome instruments.

+Lara Swanland Looks like one better feature is that you can add external power to boost the powersupply, instead of only drawing from usb. If one use external one, is it isolated so one doesnt get problemes with mains earth references?
