Moral of this horror: 1. Double-check before participating 2. Don’t trust strange contests 3. Don’t trash Mr Bearlington and give it to somebody else. *LIKE*

Red riding hood, a story of letting a creature you thought to be harmless into your home, directions and everything, and letting it consume you Whole by the end… A fitting story to tell Mr Bearlington, bet he imagined himself as the wolf in that narrative :]

The fact that someone offered $50,000 and half of all utilities paid for housing a stuffed bear probably should have been a red flag that it was a massive problem area.

Yeah, it is very clear and foreshadowing that there is something wrong and weird about that bear. Also did you notice the odd symbol that kept popping up? If I remember correctly, I think it is the symbol of the cult that resides in Cate's crossing and I think they are up yo something with that bear.

And if you believed them, took them at their word, and participated in all nonsense, should be a interpersonal red flag. If I was Stanley I'd be sitting there midway through wondering what the devil am I doing. That I needed help. My life's come to this?

Something I realized over time is Stanley messes up (even by a little each day) and Mr Bearlington still stays. Such as, Day 1: he sits by the window but Stanley proceeds to drink half the water before giving ot to the bear. And in Day 2, he talks repeatedly in the movie even when the tape says Mr Bearlington hates it. It seems that Stanley has been chosen in some spooky way no matter how he messes up. I am only half way through the video but I like this.

My question is... his bank statement shows him spending fifty bucks on Tangi water. Why would he drink that tap water knowing it's contaminated? I understand giving it to the bear, but not drinking it himself.

The real moral of this story is not to be a bad roommate like Stanley. Imagine sharing a dorm or apartment with this guy like Bearlington
@danniramey5876
@danniramey5876 2 жыл бұрын
I know I said this before, but this just sounds to me like a story where you learn a moral. Especially of if something sounds to good to be true, it normally is. Cause the plot of this series is how there was a contest where you get a ton of money and don't have to worry about paying for utilities. And a man named Stanley fell for hook line and sinker, also I think that whoever or whatever send the bear must have did all of this to get someone to take the bear into their house and pretty much get the bear to take over their life. Like with poor Stanley, cause right of the bat, the questions that was asked to see if Stanley was a perfect roommate for Mr Bearlyton. Also they wanted to make sure that whoever got him lived alone and didn't have any close family near by. I got to say that sounded very fishy and odd.

Before I watched the rest of your channel and uncovered the Deep Lore [tm] I felt like Mr. Bearlington was more of a Fey-esque figure. Y'know, since the Fey are known for being particular about rules and etiquette, _especially_ host/houseguest etiquette. My initial prediction for the end was that Stanley's 'reward' would be based on how respected Mr. Bearlington felt--the Fey can be quite vindictive when they feel slighted. Once the end arrived it was pretty clear that Stanley was screwed no matter how well he followed the rules, it only mattered that he fulfilled the ritual aspects and everything else would be little more than set dressing. I love this series! It's short, sweet, and to-the-point; which is to say, it has a story to tell and doesn't artificially stretch itself out. It has great buildup, and always feels off and foreboding, and had a great payoff. If there's one criticism I'd like to voice, though... I think the choice to make Stanley kind of an ass actually weakens the whole story. It _especially_ affects the rewatch value. On first viewing, the audience is taking note of every careless move Stanley makes. It builds tension, because of course this must be offending Mr. Bearlington, and an offended bear is implied to be a dangerous bear. But in the end... it doesn't matter. Stanley's rudeness does nothing to affect his fate, and only makes the viewer less sympathetic to him. His fate wasn't karmic. And so, his slights against Mr. Bearlington and subsequent temper fits only serve to make the audience feel like he deserves his fate (at least a little.) So on second viewing, any breaches of etiquette don't matter and that tension is lost. Now, if this happened to someone who genuinely enjoyed roleplaying host/hostess to Mr. Bearlington and went above and beyond, and was polite about not getting their promised funds, who listened to the message to pass the bear on only for the bear to keep returning and the dread to set in, and then finally pay the ultimate price for no crime whatsoever... That would make it more dread-inducing, to me. The idea that you can be kind and do everything right, only to learn you were being used the whole time--or, even worse, the idea that being kind only makes you a more appealing victim--gives me the heebies something awful.
@WobblesandBean
@WobblesandBean Жыл бұрын
I disagree, I think Stanley was very _real._ I can see someone behaving just like he does if they were in that same situation. Nothing he did made him any less sympathetic, imo. If Stanley were a very kind person, this wouldn't be creepy, it'd just be very, very sad. And if he were a true AH, then we'd celebrate when the end came, which also defeats the purpose.

I'm only 17 minutes in but i gotta say it was messed up how Stanley drank from the bear's glass before giving him the water. You don't swap spit with your roommate. If he treats humans with the same disrespect then no wonder he lives alone. Also the way he tossed the bear on the bed so carelessly, didn't even tuck it in. If you're getting 50k for such a simple task then at least put in some effort. He just seems like a lazy nasty guy and i'm sure whatever misfortune the bear brings on him is well deserved

But Stanley lives in Cate's Crossing so it's still unsure if it's a national thing or not. Initially, it seems like Stanley is a sweet, lonely man who makes a few silly and thoughtless mistakes every now and then (not tucking him in, sipping from his water glass, talking during the movie, not buckling him in the car, etc). I felt kinda bad for him. But when it comes to him getting pissed about the money and his personality completely changes, I see why he has no friends and family hasn’t spoken to him in 10 years. It was clearly him putting on an act the whole time. He was so mean to poor Mr. Bearlington, who hadn’t done anything to him (yet). Even if something turned out to be a silly little contest I wouldn’t just throw the bear around. He did get $900 just to be silly with the bear for a week, at least.

honestly deserved. first he doesn't give Mr. Bearlington his own room, but still expects him to pay half of the rent and utilities. Then he doesn't tuck in Mr. Bearlington into bed on Arrival Day, he just plops him on the bed, honestly who does that. He drinks out of his water on Day 1, and it was tap water, with no filter in sight (doesn't even boil it for him), this was reckless and rude. On Day 2 he doesn't turn all the lights off and talks during the movie, ruining the vibe. On Day 3 the music is turned up SUPER LOUD!!! Poor Mr. Bearlington must have been in so much pain, his poor ears :( Day 4 was the least egregious but I feel as though a more comfortable chair and overall environment could've been set. Like maybe get him a soft blanket and some hot cocoa and sit around the fireplace. Day 5: ASSAULT???? I was going to say that I truthfully don't know much about chess so I'm not sure what went on other than he let Mr. Bearlington win, which would've been quite kind, until he HIT HIM. Honestly Mr. Bearlington should've pressed charges. On Day 6 he didn't put Mr. Bearlington in a seatbelt which is not only illegal but immoral. Cars are scary and although Mr. Bearlington would've likely needed a booster seat, strapping him in anyway without it would've been safer than just nothing at all. He also drives Mr. Bearlington by a "pretty nice" cemetery and given the assault the day prior and the clear disregard for Mr. Bearlington's safety today I feel as though this could easily be interpreted as a threat. The effort put into Day 7 would be commendable if it weren't for the assualt and threat the two days prior. Also there is no evidence that Mr. Bearlington was asked if he had any food allergies or questions about his diet. Perhaps he is a vegetarian, or he is allergic to a certain ingredient, all important things to ask when making a meal for a friend (unless you're tying to kill them, which I am not convinced that Stanley was not). However, I cannot be certain that Stanley didn't ask Mr. Bearlington these things before turning on the camera, so I'll leave it alone. Upload 9 shows that he truly didn't see Mr. Bearlington as a friend, something clear through his treatment of him throughout living together, but I had still hoped for off chance that he cared for him. :( Upload 10 ANOTHER THREAT ON MR. BEARLINGTON'S LIFE??? I understand that Mr. Bearlington was likely still holding out for the best, but I would've called it here and pressed charges for physical assault and verbal threatening. However I cannot blame Mr. Bearlington for his optimistic nature, he is so kindhearted after all. Poor Mr. Bearlington :( Mr. Bearlington did nothing wrong.

well, I may have missed a lot of clues about the links with the Eye of the Fallen God, but as a Frenchman, not being able to read the label on the bottle of wine ( 8:42 ), just "Bordeaux".... I WON'T SLEEP A WINK THANKS TO YOU Ps: the very dirigiste questions about the "habits" of the participants puts a lot on the future of this participant, or should I say, the host? PPS: your work is truly remarkable, thank you for the timeline video which gives us a better understanding of your very special (and dreadful) world.

Imo this series was a bit more comedic of an analog horror series, the setup took a while, though it had quite a few funny moments, and the scream in the ending, although it may have just been from me watching too many perfectly cut scream videos, also came off funny. Nevertheless, it was still an interesting watch. However, one thing I'm still wondering is what's with the logo? The logo must belong to an organization, and the organization's activity and purpose must be connected to how they acquired the bear, so I'm hoping to see more of it in these series'.

I love how I was really into this, and then immediately got quizzical when the contest asked if you’re left or right handed. It was so random. Like I know this is evil and bad and too good to be true, but I can’t see how your hand preference could be relevant to anything.

@@vintageeight I'm kind of old school so the first one coming to mind is the likes of Everyman Hybrid where there was a huge element of audience submission and back and forth for a section of the project. Though that one is HUGE so I totally understand not wanting to start with something of that scale. But something with an actual email address you want people to send things (which is what in here gave me the idea of) to or an account you want people to interact with can be a good start.

I really want to see what else you and company do for your next series Vintage, I know you did one on a paranormal sinkhole and it obviously was a tie in to the Tangi virus series you made. Anyway, I do wonder if you take suggestions for what series you do next. If so I want to what else happens with the Oracle and the Tangi virus, like made an other sequel series or maybe a brand new series which continues the storyline of the virus?

Or maybe a series about a child getting a possessed doll, I know you did great with stories about children. Maybe it could feature more of those creepy and eerie kid pictures like with the children with black eyes and the children under the house. I don't know, just some suggestions you can do next.
