I was a bit bored today and thought I'd record a few sequences while playing on my synths. Nothing special, just messing around. The bass comes from the ‪@behringer‬ Poly-D, arps from the ‪@MoogSynthesizers‬ M32, drums from the DFAM, and a drone and ‪@modarttvideos‬ Pianoteq from ‪@bitwig‬

was für genussvolle 15 Minuten! Unfassbar gut arrangiert und mir verdeutlicht, wie berührend die analoge Klangerzeugung ist. Thank you so much for this video!

Stunning track, I rarely listen to these types of tracks all the way through, they can get a bit boring. You kept the interest and built the track from start to finish. Absolutely lovely... and that Poly-D filter is awesome.

I never listen to stuff like that either because it takes too long for anything to develop. And paired with my impatience when recording, it probably makes for a kinda okayish arrangement! Thanks for commenting :)

Perception in audio, like temperature, is about contrasts. that's why it borrows the same language like 'warm' and 'cold'. So if everything has the same quality then essentially nothing does, because those qualities are most perceptible in contrast to each other. Work on your ear training and sound design skills and you'll find your stereotypes of digital and analog synthesis are just different points on the spectrum of a modern tonal pallet.
@PolarityMusicOnly
@PolarityMusicOnly 6 ай бұрын
While it's true that audio perception, much like our sense of temperature, thrives on contrasts, drawing direct parallels between the nuanced worlds of sound design and something as universal as temperature might oversimplify the vast complexity of audio production. The terms 'warm' and 'cold' serve more as poetic placeholders than accurate descriptors of sound qualities. The essence of a sound cannot be fully captured by these adjectives alone, as they fail to convey the depth, texture, and emotional resonance that music can embody. Furthermore, suggesting that the distinction between digital and analog synthesis dissolves into mere points on a tonal spectrum overlooks the unique processes and outcomes inherent to each method. Digital synthesis offers precision and versatility, while analog synthesis is celebrated for its organic warmth and depth. Rather than viewing them as interchangeable, understanding the distinct characteristics of each can elevate a producer's work. Dedicating oneself to ear training and sound design is invaluable, but it's equally important to recognize the distinct identities and strengths of digital and analog sounds in crafting a truly rich and varied sonic landscape.

@@PolarityMusicOnly I agree with your statements above, but I do not agree with your title - I'm guessing your title is an attempt at being ironic? Analog is wonderful. So is digital. But if I had to pick, I'd say digital wins, not analog - because analog is really a one-trick pony. Subtractive synthesis has a defined but limited sonic palate. Digital opens up worlds of different possibilities for sound creation, and analog oscillators cannot compete with the myriad options digital provides, including the option to faithfully recreate analog, even recreating it's quirks and even temperature fluxuations. To be analogous, Analog is not unlike a horse. It is beautiful, it is one way to get where you are going, and is a tried and true way of transportation. However, digital synthesis is like a motor vehicle. It can do so much more than a horse. It can carry entire groups of people or huge loads of cargo. It can go much, much faster, doesn't need to sleep, and... you get the point. I think the whole analog vs. digital debate is really ridiculous. Both are great. Most people can't tell in a blind test which is which, all else being equal as far as the patches being compared. And now you are seeing many examples of analog circuits being used to enhance digital waveforms, i.e. analog filtering for digital oscillators, etc... which blurs the line and makes both integral to the final sound.
