All these videos are wonderful! I’ve just entered the world of analog mastering and these are a godsend. I particularly enjoy the philosophy of your studio. Keep them coming, please. Hi.

Great video! I'd love to see videos about mastering orchestral music! It's kind of hard to find high quality video lessons about orchestral music production out there...

Hi Felipe. We certainly work a lot in the genera! I’ll see what we can come up with. Typically I’ve centered the videos around technique and philosophy and less on genera as many times (and might be surprising) what works well for hip hop can also work well for orchestral arrangements.... less compression ;)

Nice review. Can you tell us a bit about your gain-staging for hitting your outboard gear, e.g. do you have a particular RMS or dBFS target that you try to hit your gear with? Thx
@reubencohen64763 жыл бұрын
There is no particular level that we hit our gear with because it’s dependent on the dynamic nature of mix at hand. We use our ears to determine the amount of dynamic processing to introduce (if any) which has everything to do with how that particular mix is mixed. Gain structure, including now much level to send through the chain, is always part of that global balance.

Great tips Reuben! I wonder if you use a sidechain filter for the Alan Smart C1.

Hi im realy enjoying all these videos . Question: do you often reach for a software limiter in your day to day work ? Doesnt that sound “smaller” most of the times compared to most of the analog limiter. I understand that this all subjective and it mostly depends on the material you are working on but i think u understand what i mean. Much love

Hello! Can you make 5.1 mastering tutorial? Or even Atmos?
