I have a theory about Absalom and the Corruption... The Nephelim's weapons are living weapons built from one of the first creatures they conquered, a race that could bend and shape their own flesh to do unique things. After the victory, Death suggested shaping the remains into their own unique weapons, which were used by the majority of them; all the Horsemen are assumed to have their own, and Absalom's axe is confirmed to be one of them. Each of these weapons contained some shred of intelligence of the being that they were composed from, each of which still hating the Nephelim for their actions. Absalom forms his axe from his body in the beginning of the fight. What if Absalom and his axe bonded with one another upon his death, thus creating the substance known as Corruption? It makes sense; the corruption is an aberration of flesh, made of an organic substance that primarily targets items of organic origin (the Maker's Souls, for example, being composed of the souls of living, organic beings, hence why the Guardian could be corrupted), and targets both Angels and Demons equally with ease. It is pretty likely that Absalom and his axe are working together as one, and that the Corruption is an extension of the axe's former fleshcrafting abilities. Just an idea, but I think it's pretty cool.

I know this is two years too late, but Death did die. Not for a very long time, (DS2 is around the same time as DS1) but he did indeed die. When the seals are broken all Horsemen are called to the apocalypse no matter their condition, whether they're dying, dead, or trapped, they'll still be called forth.

But all of this; Abaddon becoming the Destroyer, Absalom’s corruption, even the Charred Council’s own conspiracies are all pieces in one game. A game devised by Lucifer himself.

I suspect(hope?) that the very fínal game will re-enact a balance and a new Pact of Seven Seals. With Abbadon killed by War in the first game, Heaven has lost its leader. Corruption could thrive, since the Counsil was playing a game of its own(perhaps Corruption got to them?), but Death put a stop to that(and cleared War's name!) The Seven Deadly sins, unleashed bý the corrupted Counsil vanquished, including the Charred Counsil after that, by Fury there is now a void in the Balance? The game's story still has 1 final chapter left: The end of the great mastermind of this: Lucifer himself! The allpowerful Overlord of Hell(even Samael awnsers to him... he despises Lucifer, but Lucifer ís just more powerful then Samael). Through the eons in the previous games, Lucifer has grown strong, too strong even for the Four Horsemen to handle... Enter Samael, Enter Uriel? They realise that if Lucifer has his way, he will be an eternal and unstoppable tyrant! That must not be! So with the aid of the forces of Heaven ánd Hell, Luficer's reign is brought to an end, in an epic and spectacular way! But without the Counsil keeping tabs, an Abbadon keeping Heaven at Guard, or Lucifer to keep the forces of Hell in check, there is now a void. A void that MUST be filled, or chaos will consume the realms: There must be some sort of Order? The Four Horsemen agreeing to the new Pact alongside Heaven and Hell: to Bind the Horsemen's Powers within the Seven Seals, only to be unleashed when (one of the) Pact's agreements(seals) is broken: Uriel to take up the mantle for Heaven. Cleansed of the accusations against her, and her honor restored by vows of the Horsemen, and even Samael, she takes the Reign over Heaven! Likewise, Samael becoming Hell's new Overlord and Ruler, in turn, hís honor and Word reckognised by the Horsemen ánd Uriel, he takes Lucifers place. And the Horsemen, on théir turn taking the place of the Counsil in maintaining the Balance. The Endwar was waged, the result was undecided thus the New Pact will ensure this would never happen again: Humanity earned its place amongst the Realms(at the expense of the nephilim?). Human's souls are to be judged upon the end of their existance if they are sent to Heaven, or to Hell?

Lucifer manipulated Absolom into becoming this manipulative yet unstoppable power(well perhaps unstoppable for all, bút Lucifer? For instance: Samael was leeched of his Power, which was dispersed along 4 of the Destroyer's Chosen: Tiamat, the Griever, the Stygian and Silitha's Black Hearts? If Lucifer can extract power from someone as powerful as Samael, he could probably do the same with Corruption?). Corruption was nothing but Lucifer's Proxy to start an all-out war to weaken all his Enemies enough so hé could overthrow all of Creation and rúle, Unchallenged, Unchecked, and Indefinately! And even íf he would be uncovered at a point, especially THIS point: Lucifer has grown in power, secretly, and he is already too powerful for the Four' to take head-on; He's already grown unstoppable!

I don’t think they ever will. This franchise is not too popular and the studios in charge of this game don’t have the necessary resources to reboot this game the way you want. Plus they also don’t want to risk that because chances are it will fail. Darksiders is also not considered triple A. Plus we already have a remastered version. But if they do make a remaster I think it would be cool to add in things they couldn’t add in but wanted too. I also think it would be cool to add new scythes like you said. I would also like for them to allow death to double jump and run. Maybe they can even add some stealth sections with cool takedowns. Or this is reaching but maybe they can make more cool set action pieces. Just my ideas though. But it will never happen, at least in my lifetime or if they ever sell the Darksiders IP. But who will want the Darksiders IP if it’s not that successful. It’s a understated game that was never given a fair chance that’s for sure and it’s a shame. Future games in the franchise will suffer because of it.

jumpman20772 samael is on earth at the time of darksiders 2 (present not past when you fight him) because darksiders 2 is set during the event of either darksiders 2. This series is really interesting and the lore and story is amazing. I hope they will made this darksiders 3 and than a 4 and 5 as an ending. personally, avatar was a severe disappointment as a boss. Samael was harder and even my friends agreed that avatar was pathetic as a final boss. avatar was super telegraphed where as Samael needed good timing and always paying attention to his patterns, where as avatar was just dodge dodge throw scythe, wait, dodge dodge throw scythe, repeat till dead. besides the fact that avatar hit harder, he was weaker mechanic wise to Samael by a long shot.

That avatar of corruption is named Absalom. He was the first Nephilim ever born and was the first host of corruption after death. And I agree the boss was underwhelming. I wish it were better. I think they were just running out of budget and couldn’t make this final boss like they did Abaddon in the first game. But Lore wise, Samael is the second most powerful demon after Lucifer. He even rivals Lucifer and comes very close to his power so much that Lucifer sees Samael as one of his biggest threats to his rule. Samael is a heck of a lot more powerful than Absalom and Death combined and it’s not even close. His powers are literally god like and he even has a degree of omnipotence. Samael was merely toying with death on that fight as a means to test him and also have some fun. So lord wise it makes sense why Samaels fight was better and more difficult mechanically. If Samael really wanted to he could have used his telekenesis abilities to mangle death in a small glob in less than a second. But they should have made this final boss better. It was a big let down honestly.

Yeah but War never did anything. But on the other hand, Death was told that War commited a crime. Your idea doesn't really fit Death's character IMO. At least not the character from the Death we have come to know in DrS2. Did you play the Demon Lord Belial DLC? Death can absolutely talk with humans, and he even cares (a little bit). But I guess we have'll just have to wait (and hope) for an announcement trailer for DrS3.

Because I just like the idea. Think about it. Mankind would die again, because the horsemen were summoned and the Apocalypse triggered at the end of DrS1. So it would've been better if he couldn't choose. And it's just a cool idea. There is still the "crime of War" (he didn'd do anything, so Death doesn't even need to clear his name) that people think he has commited, so that would've been awesome. A coop or two-protagonist DrS3 (War+Death) would be cool. Interesting dynamic (crime blabla).

They'll never show his face. Never. And we can only hope that Darksiders 3 will get announced sometime this year or next year... "Nordic Games" bought the Darksiders IP (alongside some other IP's) from ex-THQ. But they haven't made any good games AFAIK, and they don't have the money to produce a great game. I hope they seek help from a bigger developer/publisher. Now that Vigil Games is part of Crytek USA (correct?), I could see some great collaboration and a great game being made.

You know what I think would have been an awesome way for this story to end? Just as Death makes his decision, weighing the pros and cons of bringing back one or the other...Uriel breaks the seventh seal, and Death is called forth to perform his duty as a Horseman...the Nephilim still trapped within him
