I've talked in previous videos about the narcissistic traits I believe we can see in both Chris Watts and in his mother, Cindy Watts and I've said I think Chris Watts is a sociopath. But so many people were fooled by his pleasant persona, including his own mother. In this video I look a bit more into how he may have come to wear this mask in the first place as we listen to some of a phone conversation between Chris Watts and his parents. Why doesn't Cindy Watts seem to know her son? And what impact will it have had on Chris and who he turned out to be?
I have done extensive research on narcissism and the effects of narcissistic abuse. I work as a coach specifically with people who have experienced an abusive relationship. Let me know in the comments section below what video you would like me to make about an aspect of narcissism that interests you and please subscribe to my channel!

The most frustrating part of Cindy’s “victim” statement is the fact that she FORGAVE her son in front of Shanann’s family as if she was in a place to do so. How painful it must be for Shanann’s family to deal with their narcissists.

What's VERY STRANGE to me is the fact that they're speaking to him as if NOTHING HAS HAPPENED!!! I agree with everything you said here . Instead of trying to get to the why he did this, how did this come to happen ? They praise him , tell him were with you 100 % We're with you no matter what . They didn't love their grandchildren at all , his mother tells him we got on that victims list , just so we can talk to you Chris , that's the only reason we went on that list . I couldn't believe this conversation was taking place, but we actually participated in hearing how the Watt's family unit works. This explains so much , as to why CW is sitting in that prison cell . Everything seems to get swept under the rug , ignore it and it'll go away , just pretend it didn't happen, etc etc. His family will never, ever, blame Chris for what he did , because in their eyes he's that perfect child and always will be . Instead they'll be others to blame for CW's shortcomings. Sadly in this case it was Shanann who they put the blame for all that happened, it wasn't enough that she was the victim of their perfect son .

I lied to those FBI agents and the Colorado Police Officer, when they came in February and chatted with me. They scared me so I said whatever they wanted to hear..." But she doesn’t seem to care about them, and only cares about her own reputation. Now she thinks she’s a victim because people are talking about her badly - for defending the person who killed her grandchildren. If she had expressed remorse about what her monster of a son did, people would sympathize with her. But she’s shown her true colors as a narcissist and she’s rightfully been criticized for it.

"We only got on that victims list to talk to you Chris, we just wanted to get to talk to you . " 2. " I don't care what you did , I love you no matter what . " 3. " We're with you 100 percent." 4. " We're so proud of you " ??????? 5. "We know what she was like " said with so much hate and anger , towards a murdered victim of her perfect son . The Watt's family dynamic is incredible to watch and hear , but not in a good way , it's like seeing an avalanche coming towards you full speed and you can't stop it . Everything you've been taught not to say and do in your lifetime , but their saying it and doing it in front of the world to watch. Yikes , poor Shanann and her children never had a chance with this family . It's the family you don't want your children to ever cross paths with.

Two matters really come to the fore when one considers Cindy Watts' so-called "victim impact statement". These include how she quoted from a verse from the Old Testament, specifically the Book of Jeremiah, to mention God forgiving the Israelites for their sins and then she makes the analogy that she, like God, forgives her son. That's sickeningly narcissistic and delusional egotism right there. She also talks about how son from the time he was younger and paints him as "a good man [and] a "good father" despite the fact he cold-bloodedly murdered his pregnant wife and two daughters and threw their bodies away in the worst possible manner imaginable . Not once does she condemn him for what he did or tell the Rzuceks how sorry she is that her son committed these monstrous murders. Everything is really about her and from this it's likely she's a malignant narcissists who had a lot to do with making her son the monster he is and contributing to his hatred towards Shan'ann since we know she did everything possible to try to drive them apart from the get-go, not even turning up for their wedding.

I have noticed that parents want to raise a kid to be just like them. Narcissists beget narcissists. So, the wrong thing to do, from Cindy's perspective, would be to raise a non-narc kid. E.g. CW murdered his family because they were the wrong kind and if the law would just let him out, then he could have a better family, that was more like they ate.

@aliross2720
@aliross2720 4 жыл бұрын
Narcissists are all different in some ways, but one thing virtually all of them have in common is denial. They operate under a huge amount of denial. It's one of the central functions of the defense mechanism. Narcissistic people generally experience large amounts of self-hatred and shame. Their emotions are out of control and disproportionate to the situation a lot of the time, which is experienced as frightening or as weakness - which they loathe. They generally haven't learned how to regulate or control them, so they are not able to soothe themselves when they get upset. The result of this is the only defense they have against this ever-boiling cauldron of emotion: denial. This denial is very important. In order to keep the self-hatred and pathological shame that most of them feel at bay, they must combat that. Denial works as far as it goes but it isn't enough. To simply deny who you are creates a vacuum, because then you are nobody. To counteract that, you have to then create something new to put in its place. That is where the false self comes in. It is a monument to the narcissist's denial. It is the counterpart to every negative thing the pathologically narcissistic person secretly believes themselves to be. It is the shining, perfect, beautiful facade designed to keep the ugly hidden one under wraps. Without this facade, they have no armor against the self-hatred and shame they feel. It consumes them very quickly if it can break through that facade and what often follows is decompensation, or what some call collapsing. Collapsing can lead to psychosis and even suicide. It is very serious. This is why penetrating the denial of pathologically narcissistic people is so difficult. It is essential to their very existence. Their coping strategy is set up in such a way that they never have to accept anything that is hurtful or that feels like blame. It does not penetrate the armor. This is why they turn and twist and deflect and project. Imagine those old cartoons where the guy contorts himself into crazy positions, using a frying pan to deflect all the bullets back to the shooter. This is what the narcissistic person is doing. However far outside the bounds of reality or credulity they have to go doesn't matter. What matters is deflecting the threat. Any criticism or blame opens a doorway to that barely-restrained self-hatred and shame. That's why you see the rage. That's why they feel attacked. It's like a dam that is about to burst. There are cracks in it now, and more and more water is starting to trickle through. The pathologically narcissistic person can feel that trickle. They can feel the pressure behind the wall and they are panicking because their denial cannot hold on in the face of facts. What's on the other side of it terrifies them. Denial is powerful but it is also a very fragile coping mechanism for pathologically narcissistic person. There's a thin wall between the narcissist and the things they want to escape, and it is fractured easily, probably because they are aware that they are hiding something. When this happens, you will often see various types of devaluation, rage, hysterics, suicide attempts, silent treatments, ghosting and discarding. Not only is it a warning to the threat to back off, but when you deny something, you make it more powerful. The more afraid you are of something, the more you hide from it, the more power you give it. Imagine how powerful these things are then, considering the sheer amount of time and energy the narcissistic person has put in to denying them for their entire lives. It probably feels like a monster inside of them. And ironically, that's often exactly how it comes out. Narcissistic people face these threats to their denial constantly, because they cannot avoid reality completely. They may appear delusional but they are not psychotic, and even the most clever reframing in the world simply cannot mitigate all the facts all the time. Sometimes some things get through. It is a never-ending battle on their part, then, to shore up the cracks in the dam so they don't drown. They are good at it, but contrary to their beliefs, nobody is perfect. When denial of something is no onger possible, often serious depression can occur. They may break down and collapse under the strain. This is often when they will reach out to others with their threats of hurting themselves or feelings of abandonment, rejection and despair. Because pathologically narcissistic people cannot regulate or create their own self-worth, they must extract it from other people - usually using the false self. If they cannot use the false self, such as in times of collapse, what you will often see is a heavily-filtered version of the true self: a cataclysmically depressed wreck of a person, a child who does not know how to function in this world. It is a sad irony that instead of using this stolen self-worth to actually build true self-worth to engender acceptance of themselves, they use it to rebuild the dam and strengthen their denial. Instead of fixing the problem, they are actually reinforcing it and making it worse. It is perhaps one of the most valuable lessons we can learn from narcissistic people, the importance of living authentically and being honest with ourselves. Yes, accepting things can be painful. However, what we don't accept, we cannot change. And what we deny eventually ends up running our lives.

When I watched the documentary on Netflix, I felt the first shoe drop of Shanann's constant demeaning of her husband and how she hated having to deal with her mother in law who I suspected at the time might have been simple minded. The whole "nut allergy" piece was very telling. His mother is very clearly in denial about the girls. It's almost as if she's shut that down completely in her mind. Frankly, I don't know how anyone can cope with such a tragedy as a parent. But the thing is that Chris appears to be doing the same thing re the kids. They both appear to be "simple - minded". Shanann is painted in their minds as the villain. She's had "friends" who've come forward to say she was definitely an abusive, berating bitch who was an extreme perfectionist. Although the documentary does seem to show evidence of that, the remedy is intensive marriage counseling or divorce, not murder. And then the kids? We can analyze all we want, but I don't think we're meant to understand that kind of denial. Just too bizarre, and it's difficult for me to analyze objectively because of that denial.

Despicable ! Whatever CW was has done he hasn’t hurt those children . He lied to cover up for NK . Those bodies haven’t even been identified as his children ! Cindy: Shannan always said a lot of bad things about Chris in front of me, like he looks like a skater boy, his hair looks funny, and on and on. Give me a break, that’s the worst you can come up with. And not showing up to a wedding has to take a special kind of cold hearted narcissist
@aleciabjorlie3103
@aleciabjorlie3103 4 жыл бұрын
Had she shown up to the wedding, she most likely would have been smug and unfriendly to Shan’ann’s family. Shan’ann had given his sister 80 invitations for his side, at her request, and none of them were sent out on purpose. Shan’ann had told her mom maybe they were accepting her and she was going to let them send out the invitations. Cindy didn’t want any of his relatives there, and didn’t even give them the courtesy of getting an invitation, because it was all about her. I’m sure his family and friends would have liked to have been sent an invitation. Shan’ann called members of his family the next day, and they all said they never received an invitation. Cindy was more concerned with her feelings towards Shan’ann than her son’s wedding which obviously didn’t mean anything to her.

@A Round Orifice in Nothingness I feel for you. I was adopted by a vile family line. I was beautiful when I was younger and my mother & her mother actually did succeed in destroying most of my life. They were degenerate, vile, envious and covetous. They were definitely women haters. In their eyes practically every other woman was viewed as nothing more than competition. These types of females cause untold and endless atrocities within family systems. Most of the men sit back and allow the behavior & are also vile themselves. I understand about breaking the cycle. That is exactly what needs to be accomplished.

Even at the sentencing when her representative thanked the Rzuceks, Cindy later said in a call to her son that she didn't agree with anything that woman had said. What a piece of work!

Yes, it's hilarious that he believes to get out of prison one day. But I enjoy that he already is getting tired of being there. It's only been 2 years, and his life is still very, very long! He has many years still to come in prison.

The Rzucecks inspire me to be a better person, they are full of integrity and dignity, never saying a bad word about anyone, begging for Chris life because of their values and beliefs. They are good people, to thw core. They are truly godly people and I can only pray that if I was in their shoes I would have even an inch of the strength, the steadfastness and the trust in the lord this amazing family has.

Notice when she abused the victim's statement she said, "you were a good friend, brother, father and son." I mean - clearly he wasn't a good husband (or father), but I feel like not including husband in her pity party was just another dig at Shan'ann. It's like she still cannot acknowledge his marriage. Even in death, she can't give the mother of her grandchildren peace.
