You needed a mini whisk...lots of them. They clean up easy. Just with a swish of water and your done. Ready for a new colour. Loving your tutorial!! Stayed to the end. Wow...I see the need to watch the consistency. Beautiful combination of colour and that centre really makes a statement. Glad the finish turned out well.

I have used about every brand out there...I have settled on Arteza for my pours.... They stay true to the color with up to four or five parts floetrol. I have never seen those bubbles....so I am thinking it might be water. For the price of a 14 pack ...like you just used with 4oz of paint in each one... I get so much paint for the dollar. But price isn't everything... but it is still a variable I consider. I don't feel artist loft holds its color and Liquitex doesn't mix as well. And those two cant take the amount of floetrol Arteza does without fading or losing the integrity of the paint. I like how you analyze and keep an open mind.

I've been wanting to try the arteza paints so thank you for showing how you mixed them. So many other artists have an exact recipe and whenever I've tried that it doesn't work. I also struggle with air bubbles and the white dots with torching. I always let my mixed paint rest 24 hours and it helps a little but doesn't eliminate it. Have used Floetrol, glue, GAC, Liquitex PM and the issue arises with all of them. I use a number of different paint brands. It's a really frustrating issue! Thanks for this! I don't pre-mix my paints. When I get a lot of air bubbles in the paint, I bang it on the table a few times before using it. That helps to pop them so you don't have to torch it. Just don't bang it too hard. I've had it fly up out of the cup. Makes a big big mess!

This was fantastic! Just like a personalized learning session!! Thank you!! I commented about this painting on Facebook, yet here it seems like a totally different piece. On KZbin, you can see the texture of goosebumps all over, especially after it's dried. Then you see how it interacts with the weave of the canvas and then it changes as the light moves across the surface. This just blows me away! Guess I should buy it, eh?!?!!? Nicely done, my friend!

Yeah, I'm thinking the water is breaking down the binders. Golden and Liquitex do have better pigment binders and I've used up to 30% water with those without getting that separation. Too bad in this piece since you have a great composition, but those spots do take away from it. Letting the paint sit overnight also helps a lot in allowing the bubbles a chance to dissipate and then like you say adjust consistency just before use, but gently stirring in the water. Floetrol does help with that problem somewhat so maybe that's an experiment for you to try. I know, I know you don't use it. LOL. Thanks so much for going to the trouble to do these experiments.

The air bubbles are due to the water interacting with the surfactant they use to reduce surface tension. Why do you avoid the use of Floetrol?
@MelyDartist4 жыл бұрын
I had to Google surfactant. Interesting statement. I thought it was because of the water and intense mixing 🤔 I don't use floetrol because I buy my products at the art store. I also sell my paintings and prefer a good quality product. I almost tried floetrol once. A company sent me a bottle to compare to Liquitex p.m. Let's just say they did not get a positive response. It was white, thick and lumpy. I poured some in a cup and thought no way am I adding paint to that lol! To each their own! :)

Hi that was very interesting to watch. I was somewhat surprised what you actually got in quantity from one packet of paint, which was between 1/2 - 3/4 of those cups (how much do those cups hold in mls?) it did not seem like a lot of paint. I was just thinking that you almost used 3-4 of those Arteza packets in that pour. Over here in Australia those packet would have cost at least the same amount as the Atelier or Liquitex Heavy body 138mls acrylic paint and that's around AUS $24.50 exc freight. So the painting you did would work out to approx $70-$90 AUS. That's probably why the pourers I have watch so far, and I have watched a lot mix they paint at least 1:2 (paint to poring medium) Although, Golden flow acrylic are different. Sorry I haven't commented about your finished piece. I do appreciate the strong line colouring and definite distinction between the colours, I don't mind the dominance of the green, but I prefer more negative space. I know there is quite a bit of red that could be considered the negative space. It just doesn't, for me make the colours pop, or give the piece the WOW factor like the black and white minimalist collaboration piece you did. I do however, look forward to your next video. Cheers from downunder 🙋🏼🤗

Great educational video Mely!! Thank you!! Yellow Ochre is a great color when white is added to to can achieve beautiful sand color and/or Naples Yellowish.. Did you let the paint rest over night? Maybe the water reacted with something in the paint to cause bubbles while pouring? Try the paint with medium only, even though it will be too thick to pour, but just to see if result would be no bubbles. Is there chlorine or anything in the water? Tap water? Try distilled water?? I think itsBEAUTIFUL painting Mely!!!

I generally use 50/50 ratio paint to floetrol, but i was using more floetrol with these paints to thin them down. I dont use a lot of water because it was causing me problems for me. These paints also work great for just painting in general IMO. Love watching your experiments! Keep up the Great work!!
