Great video! Modric sucking Robertson out of position followed by the quick passing up to Valverde weakened Liverpool's shape at the back, Benzema's crossing run then destroyed their shape further allowing Vini to tap in on the far post off of a brilliant ball by Valverde. Liverpool never managed to destroy Real Madrid's shape, (except for Salah's chance in the second half which was brilliantly blocked by Courtois), all their chances were taken with Madrid maintaining their shape which was why Courtois could save them. Aside from Mane's brilliant dribble and shot in the first half and Salah's in the second, all of Courtois saves were easy because Real Madrid kept their shape. Real Madrid managed to destroy Liverpool's shape multiple times in the game, with several 2 on 2, 3 on 3 chances after the first quarter of the game and they put the ball in the net twice. The biased English pundits might not see it, but Real Madrid outplayed Liverpool by not bending under pressure and hitting Liverpool in the spots exposed by Liverpool's style.

Liverpool thought they were playing Watford where their pressing would be effective when you have the likes of Kroos and Modric pressing hard and committing everything to cut the ball is risky because they can pass the ball through a needle hole and then comes Valverde with his runs and machine like performance overwhelmed their advanced left back to find a monsterous pass to Vini who is on Trent back the moment Trent is not covered by Konate who was busy chasing Benzema that's the moment Vini scores his goal none of these movements and plays came by luck but by the the quality mixed with experience and youth as well

I agree. Konate was keeping Vinicius in check for the most part and Madrid were finding it a bit difficult to get Vini in space. But a single opportunity was enough for getting the Brazilian on the scoresheet and for Madrid to secure the trophy.

thats something common if u see real madrid games more regularly. In first half the defenders most of the time can defend vinicius when they have stamina. In most of the seconds halfs, vini usually wins more duels and he is near unstopable, he just goes all the game running until he starts surpassing the contrary defenders. Mosts games the right back has to be change or injured XD

@@andrewwright4195 Obviously you don't, because if you did you would realize this was an Italian coach using typical Italian tactics, so what does that mean? that means your keeper is going to take a lot of shots, Carlo even explained it when he said, "Tibo is going to win the final for us" before the game, he was expecting exactly what we all watched, so he instructed his defenders to make sure any shots they take make them as uncomfortable as possible, and it worked as he intended, because Liverpool didn't have any clear chances or 1 on 1 with the keeper, all of their shots were under pressure. You would also realize that is not just 11 men behind the ball, Kroos and Modric are press resistant, that is why Kroos finished the game, because he was doing exactly what Carlo wanted him to do which is to keep control of the game in midfield, what I bet Carlo didn't expect was for Tibo to block every single shot, but even if Liverpool had gone up in the score one or two, Carlo had Camavinga and Rodrygo getting ready to come in in case his plan didn't work like in the Chelsea return game when Kroos was subbed off in the 67 min. Carlo tactics getting reduce to "11 men behind the ball" is really ignorant and shows people know jack shit about football.

Nice job mate! When I watched the game at 1:16, I saw Diaz was so decisive running against Courtois and I felt this could be a chance for us. A striker shouldn't be too obvious on which player they mark, they need to make sure they cover all the possibilities. Luis was too confident about himself and he missed the passing path from Millitao to Carvajal.

That's a nice observation, bro. Even i felt that Diaz should cover the immediate progressive options for Militao while pressing. Maybe Diaz was too eager to win the ball back or he was convinced that Militao would pass to Courtois (?). Anyway, Liverpool had multiple chances to stop the build up but unfortunately for them, Madrid ended up scoring.

@@12yards. Thanks for replying back my friend. In summary, the tactics from Ancelotti won against Klopp's. It occurred to me that Liverpool was too confident that once they were attacking, they thought they definitely would score goals as in PL. The problem is this is Real Madrid, especially under Carlo, a team that knows how to defend smartly, with more control from top top players, not just Kroos, Modric, but Millitao and Alaba, there were able to relieve the pressure of the offense from the opponent. Another thing I wanted to point out is the conceded goal, 70% of the blame should go to Van Dijk that he didn't choose to press Valverde in the first place.

Yeah, although I initially thought that Valverde saw Vinicius through the corner of his eye before playing the square ball, he admitted in an interview later that he actually wanted to shoot! XD

Shooting on target would probably have resulted in the same outcome as de keeper wouldn't be able to hold on the shot and Vinicius would be right there to finish things off. Good decision to try a shot and count on an eventual rebound.

Thanks for the comment! I think Thiago tried his best in this situation. There were really fine margins in this one as he almost made the interception. If I *must* point out players, then I would say that the following could have done a better job: -Diaz (for not blocking passing lane to Carvajal from Militao), -Robertson (for failing to prevent Modric from turning despite pushing up and then not tracking back), -van Dijk & Fabinho (for letting Valverde play that pass) and -TAA (for not even checking his blind side once during the decisive moments) Still, I think Liverpool played really well and both the teams equally deserved to lift the trophy. Its a cruel sport sometimes.

Valverde intended to shoot directly on goal, but the luck was there and appeared as a pass, besides, there was the legend of leaving huge spaces behind who let Vinicius score!

Yeah, Valverde did intend to shoot, as revealed by him later. This means we should give more credit to Vinicius for his run. Not every player would score from such a chance.

We just can't put all the blame on Trent like that tbh. There were 4 Liverpool defenders in the box and only 1 Madrid player in an onside position. TAA could have stopped the goal. But so could van Dijk, Fabinho and Konate if they intercepted the ball. Liverpool are a great team and fully deserved to win the UCL Final. But the same is 100% true for Madrid.
