EDIT: I have not played battlebit nor the finals so those games didn't qualify for these awards. Turbo overkill also didn't wow me like other games did, so I didn't forget about it. The game just didn't make my list of top games this year. If you like Battlefield check out Battlebit. Reminds me of all the time I spent in Battlefield 2. It's really the only multiplayer game I currently play, it has it's problems but for the price is totally worth it. They just added a new map and a new weapon (RPK) .

Baldur's Gate was amazing, but my fave shooter would have to be Trepang2, it brought back so much nostalgia for me from the FEAR games, while also adding those modern quality of life improvements.

Roboquest is easily my fps goty. Played it from day 1 early access, up to 120 hours now, seen it evolve into what it is has been great I'm clowning on The Game Awards for: - shafting Remnant 2 entirely, even not including it in the initial 30 games for fan voting, and only putting it up against Armored Core for best action game - including Dave the Diver for best indie - including Cocoon for best debut indie (even though it wasn't their first game)

I think BattleBit Remastered really should have gotten best PvP. It looks like Roblox but plays better than any modern Battlefield game. Also the proximity voice chat and death voice chat is so cool and fun!

Talos Principle 2 for art direction and music for me. The game looks so damn good running in unreal 5 and Damjan Mravunac never misses a beat with his soundtracks

best PvP, I'd give to Friends VS Friends. a 1v1 (or 2v2) deckbuilder FPS. Cards can be weapons, upgrades for you, or downgrades for your opponent. Its fun.

In the perfect world, the studio that made Boltgun would also make a boomer shooter-style sequel to Far Cry: Blood Dragon. Unfortunately, we don't live in a perfect world, but in a world where Ubisoft would rather make an Avatar game and a bunch of other garbage than a proper sequel to Blood Dragon.

Best PVP Multiplayer? Battlebit Remastered. Takes BF3 & 4 and gives it a low poly do over. Maps are large, weapons, vehicles and customisation are great, and player interactions make for some great moments.

Vertigo2 should definitely have gotten an honorable mention on a list of good VR games of 2023, even if it didn't have to be high on the list they still could have mentioned it at TGA.

Honestly, TGA list of VR games is a joke and it makes me feel that the power of lobbying and not the quality of those games was what mattered. Like 4 out of 5 games on the shortlist are from PS VR2 (no fanboy hate here, I even own the headset; but it's not exactly known for having many interesting exclusives) and two of them are mods for flatscreen games. But of course, it's much harder for small indie games like Vertigo 2 to succeed in competion with big budgeted games backed by likes of Sony.

The Finals is 100% the best PVP FPS this year. It’s extremely good. But I believe you didn’t try the open beta and since the game just released, you didnt have time to play it :( I highly recommend giving it a try with 2 friends.

Not a game from this year, but pvp of the year would go to Halo Infinite for me, the forge and improvements that came to the game this year really improved it. If you are a Halo fan you need to try Halo Infinite custom games, especially now with AI on forge, the possibilities are just endless

Totally agree, Season 5 really turned the game around for a lot of people. Custom games are awesome, I mean I am playing firefight on a Bikini Bottom map its insane. And Firefight KoTH in matchmaking is really fun as well.

Regarding the VR section at the ending, if you’ve never heard of it I would highly recommend “into the radius” It’s basically just a STALKER game but in VR and it’s really good! I think you’d like it.

There are few if any genres I don't enjoy something from. Haven't played any non-remaster shooters from this year besides Boltgun yet though. Fiances have been tighter then normal and there were tons of releases from other genres that were much higher on my priority list.

Highly suggest you give Turbo Overkill a shot, the movement is 10x that of sprawl and am honestly surprised you missed the 1.0 release

The thing I love about Boltgun’s art style is that it made 40k’s art style work in a way that no other 40k game has. It’s hard to explain but a 100% accurate boltgun that looks exactly like it does on a Guard mini wouldn’t work in a game with a more realistic art style, like Darktide.
