he reached being 6 months sober a few days ago after having issues with alcohol for the past 13 years he also posted a story about his mental health, saying he got diagnosed with a few things he didn’t know he had & implying it was some sort of manic & depressive episodes & it was showing in the logan paul podcasts & he said he wanted to make it public so if there’s people out there going through the same thing they’re not alone i think it’s very commendable that he’s taking the steps to get better & do better for himself & start a new chapter. even if you can see some “people pleaser” tendencies i don’t blame him for that at all, he got hate from the whole internet i think he’s just trying to show some growth & that he’s not that person the internet paint him out to be. i wish him the best cause i really don’t think he’s a bad horrible person like some people are trying to make him look like, he’s just a guy struggling to find his place & making mistakes as a result of that, struggling with his mental health while being in the public eye, it must not be easy & i think people should show more empathy to him & to people with severe mental health issues like Liam

@@cherrybanilla true he was definitely hurting, a happy person wouldn’t do what the did. Of course I am sad that such a young beautiful talented man has died, but his clear downfall was addiction. And he was very open about it, how from a very young age he trashed hotel rooms. People need to take his example. Same thing happened to Sarah Harding, she died with cancer though, but she was alcoholic, from the band Girls Aloud (Cheryl Cole, Liam’s mother of the baby was in that band), and Sarah would always be drunk, outrageous, always annoyed everyone and everyone grew tired of her, she lost her career, ruined her friendships, and then she died and obviously everyone misses her now, but she was quite lonely when she was addicted. That’s what any addiction does, it ruins your life, makes you miserable, you self sabotage and for others you become unbearable. Hopefully the youth will learn from their mistakes.

I agree. You can be successful and have some failures or you can be the one who was successful and continue on with the success. Humans are flaws and we can have many issues and difficulties that we don't show to others. Liam and Harry approached the celebrity life in different ways. Harry seems to have wanted privacy much more and never really talks that much about his private life. Doesn't mean he doesn't have any kind of problems or issues even if they aren't in no way like how Liam had. And I think it's damaging to Harry as a real person to assume he must somewhat be living a perfect life as that could be concluded that he is being put on some kind of pedestal. Harry shows us the public what he wants us to see. Let's try to not presume we think Harry doesn't having stuff he is dealing with himself irrespective of what has happen to Liam.

Personally, I'm not mad at Liam, what he said in that interview with Paul Logan wasn't okay, but it wasn't that bad, and I still don't understand why he got so much hate. Who I'm really angry with is the fans. Liam has always been there for us, always trying to please us, make us happy, the whole Covid was more bearable thanks to his streams. He's a good, kind guy, and after one slip everyone turned their backs on him? Did it never occur to anyone that he needed help? It makes me sad.

The thing is what he said in the podcast were all true. Somehow people couldn't handle the truth. - Liam's std was the biggest selling debut single among the members - He was pushed as the frontman/first person to sing in the beginning of xfactor so thay the rest to calmly come in (watch all videos) - He was also to be the leader as revealed by the xfactor video themselves, though liam himself never said this - He was promised a band, a recent podcast revealed they kept in contact with liam since 2008 and another video from the xfactor choreographer revealed they already had the 4 other members thought out after their auditions - Gigi "supporting" zayn did not age well because when zayn needed her the most she literally dropped him - Zayn's "family" (one of his siblings/and cousin) have never been supporting of zayn's music career, posting shaddy shit about it on their ig stories - He was pushed up against the wall by one of the members(for some reason y'all assumed he was talking about his bandmates). This was literally tweeted by rebecca (their xfactor friend and competitor) before in 2021, and she also retweeted this on 1st june 2022, same day as liam's podcast, tgt with other relevant tweets. The tweet:A boyband member told me that they were being picked up and thrown against walls, when they challenged decisions! I spoke with the accused and his words were "when you make as much money as you guys do, you don't get a say in what you do in your life, you do as we say" #change - Both zayn and liam have said multiple times how bad it was in the band. Zayn said the same thing in his latest podcast and now everyone suddenly is woke. - liam has said multiple times he will play whatever character they want him to play, he got sick of it because it bled over into his normal life

Liam got a lot of hate because people were foolishly hoping that 1D would reunite ““”very soon””” But those frustrated fans don't accept that the band members had problems with each other back then, which is very obvious, they were not lifelong friends when 1D was created. If Liam had no right to tell that particular situation with some former bandmate, you are absolutely right but that situation was the only relevant fact and it was the damn alcohol along with Logan Paul. And don't get me wrong, I love 1D and I want them to come back, but I know they won't do it for a long time, believe me the years that one direction has been on hiatus is nothing compared to other bands.

I dont know why, but I've been falling down the 1D rabbit hole since I heard about the tragedy. Something about him seemed so sad and lost in those videos from Nialls concert. In so many videos of their early years, I get the sense that he never knew himself. Even in his first audition, he wasn't singing in his own voice. Maybe he reminded me of myself a little, big, neuro diverse, and childhood trauma vibes. Would probably explain why the other 4, who seem to have a little more of an idea of who they are, have done better carving out their own paths. He seemed at his best while he was in the band because that was someone else directing their day to day lives. It's heartbreaking that no one was able to help him out of the dark.

I can relate to this. I too have gone down a Liam rabbit hole since his death, something has drawn me in. I had never heard of him before he died and didn't know about 1D. But looking at tge footage if him/them there is something, maybe it's that from the beginning he needed things to be perfect, whereas the others were much more relaxed and took things in their stride. He was vulnerable from the off, that two year gap 14-16 he probably fixated on going through with xFactor. Listening him saying that he had so much going on in his head, masking his feelings, needing to please, fear of failure, self doubt/hate, that no one gave him an accurate diagnosis until 2023. Turning to substance abuse was too easy and once there he could not find a way out. I feel so overwhelmed with sadness for him, his son, Cheryl and his family, I really do.

I agree that he just never really knew who he was, and without someone dictating his life once the band separated, he just didn't know which way to go. I'm sure having genuine friends with you're surrounded by "yes men" is a difficult task. He seemed to have a high intellect and was very self aware, even from the very beginning. I think he was very aware that things weren't going great for him once he was solo and took everything to heart so much. Then it all seemed to snowball this year and ended how it did. So freaking sad. I do hope he's at peace finally, but my heart breaks for his son.

I think what seems "extra" in the video and what seems to be an act to get the fans on his side, was more of a cry for help, a 'please I need you to support me now'. I hadn't seen that video until after his death, and it sounds pretty sincere to me, it's also a message of very low self-esteem and it breaks my heart to think about it

The way "fans" have never been fair to this man is infuriating. Not saying what happened in that podcast was necessary or nice but wasn't that big of a deal and definitely not justifying so much unnecessary pure evil comments from the world. People have never shown same energy with any other boys and that's fucked up and unfair. Not saying they should hate on others cause i love all of them so much , i just want people to be less mean with Liam, it's like seeing a person struggling and put you foot on his neck still(

People are extreme but what Liam did to Zayn was bad. I’m glad the boys and Zayn got his back at his lowest. Because he didn’t do the same for Zayn. He actually back stabbed him at Zayn’s low point. Everyone calling Zayn names and mocking him even these idiots. Being so racists saying false information that he hit his gf and mom because his culture and became he’s ethnic. And all the horrible names people called Zayn. Liam still needs to find himself and stop being people pleaser.

i feel like most of the hate was geared to the fact that Liam came off somewhat arrogant, even though what he said was inherently true, and his comments about Zayn and his family, which, I do agree, he had no right to comment on and I do disagree with him there, but all of that really made people look over the things I feel was of importance; the truth about the mistreatment by management, the fact that that anguish made him resort to alcohol, and the fact that Logan was clearly pumping Liam with alcohol as a way to coax things out of him - especially about Zayn. which is something even Louis recognized. much less the whole internet. he really didn't deserve any of it in my opinion.

I’m glad he is not with people like you. He did nothing wrong please. He needs to be accountable and I’m glad he is. If Zayn is his so called brother he wouldn’t have say what he said. He is the one that bad talk about Zayn he is the one that brought the allegations by saying “that didn’t age well” and then talking about his family. This lead for them to make fun of Zayn and make racists comments. Ohh yes he bit up his girlfriend and her mom because he is ethnic and it’s his culture. That’s nothing to you. Also pretending 1D was formed around him when clearly it wasn’t 1D released the video right after. And I don’t even care about that. At the end of the podcast the one that got it worse was Zayn. Anyway Liam doesn’t seem genuine and still is people pleaser. He needs to find himself and be true to himself. I hope he does. Or else he won’t be happy.

"Because that's not me..." is textbook distancing language. He's trying to separate who he "really" is from his bad behavior by framing it as though it was someone else who had done it and it doesn't belong to him personally. And while none of us can be reduced to any single one of our actions, and we certainly can't be reduced to our worst mistake, we ARE the sum total of everything we do and none of our actions can be excluded as though they don't belong to us. Because, ultimately, no one can choose our actions for us or make us do anything we haven't decided to do, and the only one responsible for what we chose is us. It might have been him in a low moment or at a difficult time, and it might be a poor representation of his character in itself, but it was still very much HIM. Denying that means you can't change anything about it, because you can't change what you don't acknowledge. Though, I do really appreciate what he had to say about cancel culture. About how it's not really intended to ostracize or exclude anyone, we don't want anyone to be banished to personal shame and regret for all of eternity, it's really just a call to accountability and the need for assuming responsibility for your actions and the impact you have on the rest of the world. It makes me feel like he had the wisdom to use this opportunity correctly and gain some perspective, rather than taking it as an attempt to actually cancel his existence and making him desperate to just get back "in", if that makes sense? He understood it wasn't a death sentence he couldn't overcome, it was a learning opportunity and used it as such.

@@cecileroy557 But people don't exist as a dichotomy like that. You're not either good -or- bad, because we're all complex, nuanced beings with a mix of both. His "good" traits don't outweigh the bad and vise versa. Being loved doesn't undo or erase any pain or harm he caused. Just as an example, Ted Bundy was bizarrely beloved among the public and he was a serial killer who murdered 30 women. Obviously no one is suggesting anything as vile as serial murder here, but my point is that people can do wonderful things and commit atrocities all in the same lifetime. No one is wholly innocent and chaste, including Liam.

I think people deal with thing very differently. Remember, Liam even though a young man still had a older woman come after him, the pressures of being made band babysitter, and learning to lean heavily on alcohol to try and cope at a young age (which got to control him quickly) hell most adults can't deal with alcoholism without help so why would any of us expect a boy too? They all had demons to fight, Liam just got a couple knock down punches. If his band mates can understand then who are we to slap our judgment upon him? He messed up! He knows it! We are all human. Liam just keep swimming toward the light, you're going to be alright.

4:28 I think you're greatly underestimating the grudge being held against Liam seen as there were still mass amounts of hate in response to this particular video as well as him announcing he was 100 day sober and that he was going to be a part of the soccer aid game again this year, which raises money for charity (I mean hating on somebody for raising money for children is pretty low). I'm sure this plays into the people pleasing tendencies, but that's also just something he has struggled with for a while which he is also self aware of as he's mentioned it in interviews before. I don't blame him thought because even after putting in the effort to transform his life by getting help, becoming sober again, being diagnosed and treated for several mental illnesses, making amends and taking accountability for his mistakes there are still people who won't let one interview go even though the people who were actually involved (zayn & the rest of the band) have had private conversations and seem to be on good terms. Even after all that people won't give him a break, so I think it's natural to still want some sort of outside validation after doing all that work on himself and sadly the only way he might get it is by saying things like they were valid in their hate (which I believe is untrue). Really appreciated your take on this and your extension of empathy as it can be exhausting seeing people who have already made their minds up that he's a horrible person and continue to express hate without even listening to what he's saying.
@jadepersonally

just to clarify, the soccer aid thing was just a big, completely avoidable, misunderstanding, the leaders of the event posted a really inconspicuous poster of Liam and tommy fury, that looked like it was a boxing match. which Liam then posted and it went viral as people went with the thought that it was a boxing match and proceeded to make fun of him in the most nasty way possible. if haters just took a minute to do an ounce of research, all of it could have been avoided. thankfully, when another soccer aid poster was made, a lot of people jumped to his defense, and luckily a lot of people we happy for him later too.

@@jadepersonally yes there was tons of hate when they thought he was going to fight which was very unfortunate because as you said it could’ve been avoided, but regardless there was a lot of people even after it was revealed to be for soccer aid that continued the harassment. People were complaining that ‘liam’ was posting on the soccer aid accounts and using it to promo himself (he obviously didn’t have access to the account and it was the other way around, soccer aid using liam to promo the game which is the entire point of celebrity charity games). People complained about him making the game about himself even though he wasn’t promoting his work/himself at all. It is not up to liam what is posted on the soccer aid accounts but for some reason people decided to blame him for that too.

Sadly, until those who are in financial control start recognizing humans as humans instead of cash machines it won't change. And a lot of people enjoy the debauchery and care nothing about the cost to others, in fact some are probably happy for situations like this because it means more clicks and views all while they continue being immoral vultures behind closed doors. Tbh this current situation reminds me of Elvis' death, so many people loved the entertainer yet those closest had lost control and he was gone way too soon. it's really interesting to see your take on the video he posted. i watched it as it premiered, and my first thought was "poor Liam" i don't know much about him, but he seemed almost scared to come out again after everything that happened. and i don't blame him. he got A LOT of hate for what he said in the podcast. but i couldn't hate oon him for it. was it wrong? yes of course, but seeing someone who is known to struggle with alcohol making those statements with a drink in his hand(!) i knew he wasn't in a good place. i've been in a relationship with someone who also struggles with addiction, and if there's one thing i've learnt, it's that they under the influence of whatever they struggle with, they say a lot of things, that they would never ever dream about saying if they were in a good place. and the shame that comes with the realisation of the fact they screwed up, is imense. the fact that he came out, and addressed it, is very brave on his part. i do agree with you that in some parts he didn't look or sound as genuine as he maybe could've, i felt the same way as i was watching it. but i gave it quite a bit of thought, and a lot of it is because he was trying a bit too hard i think, not because he wasn't honest. part of a succesful recovery is making mends with the past, and let it go. what's done is done, and can't be undone. i just hope and pray that fans will let go of the past too, and support him, cause he deserves it. otherwise i'm afraid if he relapses again, he might not recover this time.

Liam is still in a very tough place mentally and he does sound or feel like something is void in him. I think he is speaking from his heart. When you add the addiction on top of everything he has gone through it can't be easy to find your footing. I don't know what happened after his first solo tour and why he hasn't made more music til now. I don't think people understand his personality type. Being easy going and carefree has never been a part of Liam's DNA. He was also given such a tough position during the 1D years to be the Daddy... that could have affected him in the years since plus other opinions I have that I don't want to put here. I know so little about Liam, but my heart goes out to him and I hope people and fans rally around him and he feels the love again. literally exactly me too, after 1D broke up i strayed so far i didn’t really know anything about any of them aside from their big singles, except liam and louis, i was bit on the older side of directioners, i wasn’t a child, i was a teen, by the end of them i was 18 so it was ok, growing up, different music, etc. i barely knew liam had a child then he passed and i found out all of this, didn’t know he was an addict, i was and still am so so so so shocked because he was always so precious and the “dad”, serious, good boy, beautiful soul, and then i saw the kate’s tiktoks and he looks absolutely lost and sad 😞😞😞😞

I think the laugh when he said Logan Paul podcast was just him laughing off the pain. I feel like given how much hate he got it's very natural for him to try to prove himself. He got so much hate that now he trying his best to make everyone like him and i feel like that's just human instinct after having trauma like that. One thing i will say though living is the spotlight ,it's so much harder to please people. Everyone makes mistakes everyone has said hurtful things to people they love but his got pointed out cuz his was filmed and people had the opportunity to bully him for it through social media. I make mistakes nearly everyday and people have been hurt by my words before but Liam made one mistake and has to go through so much. It's so unfair and he doesn't deserve it at all. People are so cruel for making him go through hell for one mistake he made. You might think I'm saying all this cuz I'm biased but to be honest i could've stopped being a fan like a lotta fans did at that time but i didn't and there's a very logical reason as to why.

I have a,ways felt so bad for Liam and Zayn since they were always in the background and when they were in the light it was for a bad reason that wasn’t even true I hope he gets better and he deserves way more since you can see he is still struggling in this video lots of love for him❤❤❤

He was definitely trying to convince himself and ensure he held himself accountable. When you speak things into existence for millions of people to see, it kind of forces you to keep to your word, which is what I think he did or tried to do. This is all just too sad. May he rest in peace.

Despite having countless mental health issues and severe adhd that causes massive executive function issues…I always thought “if you get rich, your life will 100% be better. You will be happier. It’s impossible not to”. Then I had a PMDD episode. And it changed my perspective completely. Like I’d had depression before. But I always thought my depression would go away if the external causes for it weren’t there anymore. But the PMDD episode showed me that some people.. some people don’t even need an external reason, and their brain is tormenting them. It felt truly and wholly inescapable. My point is, it doesn’t matter how rich and successful you are, if your brain chemistry decides it… you’re going to go through hell. Period. I understood during those PMDD episodes that NOTHING would bring me out of it. It actually made me scared to have a kid. I would say things like “oh the birth of my child surely would bring me out of it!”. But I knee in my heart of hearts..no….no it wouldn’t. Not then. Which made me terrified of postpartum depression. I imagine it’s very similar to PMDD. That just… inescapable, unimaginable, “before you even open your eyes when you wake up you’re already in literal hell” sort of darkness. For some people.. it’s just temporarily inescapable. But that’s the important part. Is it temporary. You have to hang on to that fact with every fiber you have in you… you have to there is no other option.

There are more than one important point going on in what he is saying; he knows since 1D that his fan base are teenagers girls, young lile 13 14 years old and they need to be careful, the five of them, since they were children themselves, wired to protect those young girls. That is part of their job even. Liam attempted against his life at that time. He has been very open about what is going on with him progressively, because of his training to keep inside. In the past he was trained to dont share what happened in those internal places of pain, the tender things, to forget about it. Lately he told publically that he do not feel like in 'here', that is a post traumatic disorder called dissociation. After that interview the fandom went wild against a person who already have mental heath issues that just grow since his teenager years. Of course he is looking for valdation after all, on top of it all, that is his career for which he did a lot of sacrifice already for. The love from the fandom is basically what makes them to go on. Talk about his laugh at this point, to a man who is overcoming addiction, depression and dissociation is not it, he is gonna look off because he literally is and is putting a lot of personal effort to even talk about that. We do talk about celebrities taking a step back from our humanity, what I wanna to tell you is this; at this point of Liam's life you shouldn't have even made this video. He is in a very tender state and is going online to talk about very difficult personal problems. So, he needs support, just support, nothing else. Look at how many celebrities, brilliant people we had broken down and lost.

Your compassion and empathy at that time for Liam is heartening to read but also heartbreaking considering his untimely death. And he's now another one to add to the list of those that we lost❤💔
