Analyzing Melody EP 07: Final Fantasy VI - Gau's Theme (Music Theory)

The melody is a struggle between C# and E, trying to get up to that E# but always being dragged back down, reflecting the duality in Gau's character - observant, intelligent, wise beyond his years, but feral and uneducated, abandoned by his father. Even so - even though his father denies his very existence, says he was nothing more than a monster from a half-forgotten nightmare - when Gau meets his father, he feels blessed.

Could you analyse “Dancing Mad” from FFVI? I would prefer using the Black Mages version (the original composer’s rock band), as it combines the parts seamlessly and is a much cleaner audio to analyse from, but this is up to you.
