After having toured tranquility of Phi Phi Island, it was inevitable that we had to head back to the busier island of Phuket. However, we wanted a resort that really continued the peaceful and nature blend of a resort stay. After having watched Mark Wiens’ tour of the Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas o his Mark Abroad channel, it was obvious this had to be our choice. Also rated as one of Thailand’s top resorts in Conde Nast’s Reader Choice Awards, we definitely had to go here.
Our exit from Saii Phi Phi Island Village was more of a challenge than what we expected. However, after getting somewhat wet, we dried off on the rough and windy boat ride back. Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas had a van waiting for us at the pier and we got 1st class service back to the resort. The entrance upon reaching was stunning and lush from the outside orange brick building complemented by covered with green plants to the driveway lined with well manicure plants and vines hanging from the roof and walls. You really felt like nature intertwined with the building of this property. Upon entering the reception area there were boardwalks heading to the restaurant and to the reception area with a large lagoon in the center and gardens all over. We received our warm welcome with drinks. After check in we walked to the Lagoon Villa that resembled Thai Traditional buildings with modern features. The Villa had a sala area adjacent to the private pool and with views of the lagoon. It was well thought out and designed property.
A nice touch was the availability of bicycles to get around to the property. We took bicycles to Mai Khao beach just in time before the activity desk by the beach closed. We had wanted to borrow kayaks while on Phi Phi Island but were not able to and it was great to have had the opportunity this last day in Phuket. We commend the beach staff for staying open longer to accommodate our party with the kayaks, we went into town for dinner. The next morning, we had a very delicious breakfast at the restaurant quickly as we had to rush to the airport for a flight back to Khon Kaen. It is clear why this resort is rated high with exceptional friendly service that goes above and beyond to delight guests. The well planned and designed resort and layout with the lush green gardens that made the experience so peaceful and calming, as I am a big fan for resorts with lush gardens and water features. I only wished we had more time at this lovely resort.
