To answer Laith's question at 19:00 about why the game only lets you go anarchist if you are already socialist, it's becuase anarcho-capitalism wasn't really a thing during the game's time period. Up until the 1950s, pretty much everyone self-identifying as an anarchist was a socialist or communist of some kind. It wasn't until the ideas of Austrian School economists like Ludwig von Mises and Murray Rothbard became popular that anarcho-capitalism emerged as an ideology. EDIT: Changed the examples from Mises and Hayek to Mises and Rothbard. Since the previous inclusion of Hayek gave the false impression that he was an Ancap.
@zigoter21854 ай бұрын
Mises and Rothbard. Rothbard more specifically. Hayek had nothing to do with anarcho-capitalism.
@uncouthkoala4 ай бұрын
@@zigoter2185 I was using those two as a stand-in for the Austrian School more generally, which I think was a huge influence on the Ancap movement, even if not all of it's prominent members self-identified as Anarcho-Capitalists or Libertarians. For similar reasons, I considered including Ayn Rand as well - even though she rejected both anarchism and libertarianism - becuase she was, nonetheless, extremely influential on the modern Ancap and Libertarian movements. Although, in hindsight, I think you are right, and my initial wording was unclear and gave the impression that Hayek was an Ancap, so I will amend my comment accordingly.

Have you ever considered the fact that the world's biggest economy was essentially anarcho capitalist in most places and during most times from its founding to around ww1? During any of that time people could live their entire lives without a single interaction from any state whatsoever and were reliant entirely on other free people to provide the basis of an economy. And what's more is that this economy turned a primitive colony in to the largest economy in the world. Where were these warlords that you invent?? Why on earth would they arise from the lack of a state?? It's so ironic how big of an "anarchist" you are and how much central planning you want. That "free anarchist trade union council" that collectively controls the entire economy and all previously private property sure does resemble a totalitarian state to me. Tl;dr Anarcho capitalism isn’t an anarchist political system it is anthithetic to anarchist governence in the game The only thing acap ha in common with anarchism is just the name I know that its just a fun video but we are all nerds so ima do my thing Anarcho capitalism is not anarchy because: anarchism nessecitates abolishment of private property which is anthitetical to any form of capitalism Rothbard, creator of anaracho capitalism doesnt believe anarcho capitalists belong to the category of anarchists, heres the quote: ”We are not anarchists, and those who call us anarchists are not on firm etymological ground, and are being completely unhistorical because all anarchists have socialistic elements in their doctrines and possess socialistic economic doctrines in common.”
@kacperkawecki18504 ай бұрын
Furthermore capitalism nessecitates existance of a state if you want to have private property to be respected (this claim is a lil bit more contentious since there are some, very little but still, people who believe otherwise) if me and my homies working in a factory tell our boss that fuck you were wont give you any money and we r gonna manage the factory on our own from now on, there needs to be an authority (a state) that says nah this factory belongs to the boss and beats us into submission if we dont comply also most anarcho capitalists are not really against idea of a state since they want the state to do only a couple things like judgmental system, policing and national defence/ability to wage war,
@kacperkawecki18504 ай бұрын
If you wanted to play an anarcho capitalist nation goin anarchy is not really the play kinda everything but it and council republic makes sense but then deciding on which to chose is more of a „ask a particular anarcho capitalist” since they mostly dont really care about it and disagree on it (i would personally go with presidential dictatorship since most of the ones i interacted with believe something like it )
