Something that is really important that everyone must understand is the concept of "Product-Market Fit" Which means selling the right product for the right customer. The product in this video is wrong. Why? People that want artwork on their walls don't buy posters. They buy canvas prints - which is a totally different market. The people that put posters on their walls are teens or people in their 20's and they are typically posters of movies, tv shows, musicians, or celebrities. There is a market of customers that buy digital wall art so they can print it themselves and use their own frames - they would almost never spend $20 to $30 for a poster when they can buy digital downloads for $5. You need to ask yourself: Who is my target customer? What are their age / gender / location / income? What is the problem that I am trying to solve for them? What are their purchasing behaviors? If you create a product, does it already exist in other businesses i.e. Amazon, Walmart, Target, Dollar stores etc? What is different about my offer vs. existing products on the market? How does my pricing compare to other products? You really need to put yourself in the shoes of the customer and look at things from their perspective. Too many people are focused on their products and don't spend enough time thinking about the customer.

What is also not explained is that if you are a new Etsy seller, Etsy puts a hold on your funds for sales that you make. 20 days I think, and if you are running a print on demand sho this can be problematic because you have to pay out of pocket to get the orders fulfilled.

Hello Anastasia. The problem I found with Etsy is it takes a lot of time to set up properly. That includes your store front and all the listings. Just for the store front you want a banner, a logo, a large amount of text for various sections, etc. For each individual listing, you need to give it a good description, put in the correct keywords, upload several mockups (you probably don't need 10 but I think 3 - 4 are necessary), etc. The whole thing is quite daunting. So while I think people can use Etsy as passive income, it definitely is much harder than most KZbinrs make it out to be. I also don't think finding the right niche on Etsy is as important as knowing what you are doing, as you can always start a new shop to cater to a new niche.

Thank you for such an honest video. The clickbait KZbinrs are using a 25+ year old online strategy…you make money by marketing to the marketers. Promise instant riches with little to no effort in the shortest time possible and the gullible will fall over themselves to part with their cash to learn the “secrets”. There are no secrets, just hard work and determination that takes a lot of time. Then if you are lucky the snowball effect will kick in and make all of it worthwhile.

Great video,Anastasia! I have a question.Etsy has a 90 day funds reserve hold policy for sellers but I am aware that this policy is there for only physical products sellers. Does this policy also apply to digital downloads though if I am only selling products on my store that can downloaded digitally?

Hello Anastasia. Yet another totally unrelated question🤣 I have an account on Pinterest for a few years that was just sitting there not doing anything. For purposes of creating a passive income, would it be better to start off with a totally new account, or could I restart my old account? Also, if I want to do affiliate marketing in several areas that are totally unrelated (I dunno, say pet products and health supplements), would you suggest using a different account for each type of products, or would it be better if I use separate boards within the same account? Thank you for your reply, I double-checked and in my account, I can only increase or reduct the daily budget that will be spread across all the listings, I can then go back to each listing and turn on or off the ads for it. However, it doesn't solve the mystery for me of why Etsy ads have been spending only about 20 cents per day when the max budget was $1 per day :) Anyway, the ad settings on Etsy seem so basic and inflexible, I am quite surprised, but it is what it is.

you did not spend the ad budget as etsy will only spend when you get a click. people did not click enough to spend it. recommended to add and remove different listings, to test what works then tweak with the "keyword" stats on the actual details of the ad listing.

If you think it is very easy to create these products and print on them on your end, you can keep a bit more of the profit but keep in mind you still have to spend your own money to produce the items, buy super expensive printing equipment and spend your time doing all of the work manually, then ship the items and pay for the shipping.
