I stumbled upon this song in a Steven Wilson, Marillion mix about a month ago... I bought the best off straight away, with a promise of getting the rest. Seeing this response, well, I know that wasn't in your mind when posting, but you sold a full back catalog today... And this typed with tears in my eyes again, and amazing song, a beautiful reaction. Remembering all we have loved and lost and lost and loved.

Danny, I've been a fan for a number of years. Last year a really good friend died at age 42, leaving behind a wife and two daughters ages 6 & 2. It struck me recently how do many of the words in this piece fit their situation, how they've had to say goodbye and how they'll have to cope without him, but mostly that he's always going to be with them almost out of sight as both of his children look so much like him. I sent her a link, she listened, she cried, but thanked me for such a beautiful piece of music. And she's right, it is stunning and will now forever move me to tears. Keep writing DC. Tony C

IMO, this is THE most emotional album I've ever listened. Some songs can can be hard, but at the end, it's always cathartic to listen to them. Running alone at night while listening to this album is quite an experience. I've done it many times, and I ALWAYS end up crying. It's not sadness, not happiness, it's just emotionally overwhelming. If you want to try more songs: these two are fantastic: "Lightning Song" (a lot happier), and "The Beginning and the End" (my favorite song in the entire album, though not as emotional as Untouchable)

I want to respond to this in a meaningful way, but don't have the words. Bless you both. I have loved Anathema for years. They are a local band to me, from Liverpool. The song is deeply emotional and you can take it a number of ways, depending on your own personal experience. Thank you for sharing your own feelings on this. It was clear the words and music meant so much to you and triggered so many thoughts and memories. Well... This song has been a forbidden song for me since I lost my dad... And watching your reaction now was exactly the first time I’ve listened to it since then. I guess I can tell (or not) what you guys are feeling... I, my mom and my sister were never ready to let dad go... even he asked so many times for us to get used to the idea of letting him... It was a very hard and complex context, he was really really sick but didn’t want help... Then he chose to end his life. Now we are getting use to the feeling of seeing him “out side at the edge of our sides”... It’s very strange because it’s been a year already and still it doesn’t seem he’s not here anymore. It is hard but we “have to let him go and find his way back home”... And we have to learn how to move on with all our plans, which used to be his to.. So now... I’m locking in this song once again... But deep inside we know we can’t help ourselves

I love that you guys found this. It feels like it is a shout over the chasm of death to the afterlife to people we love that have passed, except this is loud enough to be heard on the other side! This is one of those rare songs that just pulls emotions from the deepest part of my soul. I remember showing my fiance (now my wife) this when I bought it and getting choked up when I tried to talk about what I loved about it. When I verbalize my thoughts about this track it happens every time. I've never heard acoustic guitar in prog like that either, it's really an incredible song on so many levels. I lost my dog Milo in December and i listened to this album and We're Here Because We're Here alot. He was 12 years old and i had to do the hardest thing i have ever done which was have him put to sleep. I hugged him until he passed away. Letting go and saying goodbye was really hard and i'm still very sad about it. He had lymphoma and it spread everywhere. Back in 2003 i had another dog named Grizzly that was hit by a car and died. It affected me really bad for years. My sister was 4 and at that time she was at a hospital in another state being treated for 3rd degree burns. I thought about suicide but music helped me heal through hard times. 2004 came around and Anathema released Natural Disaster which is another amazing album. It helped me alot at that time. Update - I lost my beautiful baby princess my cat Mandi Lou on may 13th 2021. She was 19 years old. I'm having a hard time dealing with losing her because she was always with me. I don't have alot of friends or much of a social life but i had her to keep me company. Now she's gone and i'm just really sad.

I'm glad you've found this amazing band. Back in the '90s they were one of a group of British heavy, even doom metal bands. Then in 1998 they released the album Alternative 4, which contained the track Fragile Dreams, with this lyric... Today I introduced myself, To my own feelings, In silent agony, after all these years, They spoke to me... after all these years ...and countless metal fans followed them on that journey. They still rock when they want to, but the emotional weight of their songs is peerless. They followed that with the Judgement album. The two Cavanagh brothers, Danny and Vincent, wrote One Last Goodbye about the death of their mother. Anyone who's ever lost a loved one, or split up with them, myself included, it reduces me to tears every time I hear it, though in a comforting "someone else understands how this feels" kind of way. Your reaction video said it all. I'm glad life brought you together and thank you for sharing your sincere feelings with the world. All the best to you both.

@RandyLott5 жыл бұрын
Anathema is a band made up of two sets of siblings, plus another person. Three brothers are Vincent (main vocal, guitar), Danny (vocals, guitars, piano), and Jamie (bass) Cavanagh. Lee (female vocals) and John (drums, keyboars) Douglas. Then, there's Daniel Cardoso (drums). At least, I think this was the lineup at the time. Vincent started by just playing guitar. He didn't think he was good enough to sing, but his brother Danny encouraged him and he stepped up when their original signer left. They are more alternative progressive pop rock now. They were once gothic metal and death/doom metal. Their newer album, Distant Satellites, is also very good, along with We're Here Because We're Here. We're Here Because We're Here was mixed by Steven Wilson and that mixing style seemed to continue to this album.
