I made a new adapter bracket so that with the same head I could measure the hardness of flat parts and not only magnetic ones.
A test head with a lifting mechanism and an MPV-1 measuring microscope are installed in a homemade duralumin bracket.
And the bracket itself is installed on the column of the B-901M measuring rack, from which I removed the standard brackets.
Describes how the device works.
The essence of the method is that a regular tetrahedral diamond pyramid with an angle of 136° between opposite faces is pressed into the test material. After removing the indentation load, the diagonals of the print are measured using an optical system.
Hardness can be calculated using the formula. But in reality they take the hardness from the table depending on the size of the average diagonal.
It is shown how Vickers hardness is measured.
At the same time, the reliability of the readings of this device was checked. To do this you need to have a standard. I don't have Vickers standards. Measured the hardness of the Rockwell hardness standard.
After removing the load, I measured the diagonals.
Using the table, I determined the Vickers hardness using the value of the average diagonal.
According to another table, I converted it to Rockwell hardness. This turns out to be 63.6 HRC. And the standard shows a hardness of 63.7 HRC. The match is good. This means that the device measures quite accurately.

I didn't modify the stand, I just replaced the bracket. You can quickly restore everything.
The device now consists of the following parts: a test head with a diamond pyramid, a head lifting mechanism, a homemade adapter bracket, a measuring stand and an optical system (microscope).
Now this device can measure the hardness of flat parts and not only magnetic ones.
