ANATOMY AND US ANKLE LATERAL LIGAMENTS

In this first video, I´m going to show you the anatomy of the lateral ligament complex of the ankle and how to explore them with ultrasound. I will also check other pretty close ligaments which may be injured and are mandatory to check to avoid misdiagnosis. I hope you enjoy this video about lateral ligaments of the ankle.

Usually fat in this area is slightly hipoechoic compared to caspsule and edematous anterior talofibular ligament, It helps us to distinguish when it´s pathologic in mild cases

It depends on the structure you are assessing, for example th asess anterior talofibular ligament, y use plantar flexion to tighten te ligament. If y explore the posterior tibiotalar componente of the deltoid ligament, I use dorsal flexion.
