splenectomy by ligation of the splenic a & v, left gastroepiploic a & v and short gastric vessels is described by all major surgery texbooks and its reported that it does not compromise the blood supply of the stomach.

the vessels that you called short gastric vessels they are actually the left gastroepiploic vessels.
