We need more professors like you. You're so easy to understand, unlike other professors who just go over it without explaining the details. I've been passing my quizzes and honestly there's no point of me going to class because I can't understand what my professor is trying to say. Just watching your videos makes me understand the whole concept. Thank you!

Once the action potential starts, depolarization begins first where the Na+ channels open and allow the Na+ to flood in at a much higher rate causing the cell's membrane potential to become more positive. (Picture a dam being removed allowing water to quickly flood). After depolarization and replolarization the Na+ K+ pump returns the intracellular and extracellular ion concentration to pre-stimulation levels. I hope this helps!

My professor this past semester often includes links for us if we need further lecture understanding or practical understanding since our class only meets on Saturdays. She has often included your videos! I have watched the ones on urinary, endocrine, and reproductive system and you are soooo helpful! I got an 85.3 on my urinary and endocrine exam and I feel a lot of that has to do with your videos. The information you present is clear, easy to understand though this is not a course where things can be super easy to understand, and the pace you talk at is perfect. As someone who suffers from test anxiety, your videos have helped me soo much! Thank you for sharing these with us!

I am so happy the videos have helped you and know that you have done so well because of your positive attitude! I am so proud of your grades and hope you will keep me posted! Please tell your prof that I am honored to have her think enough of the videos to share them.Thank you so much for your kinds words! Blessings!

Hi! Great question, I'll do my best to answer it for you! :) When a cell is at rest, the extracellular fluid is high in Na+ and the cytoplasm is high in K+ right? There are leak channels that are always open so Na+ flows down its concentration gradient into the cell, and K+ flows down its concentration gradient out of the cell. The Na+ K+ pump is there to reverse this process by pumping three Na+ out for every 2 K+ back in. That's what keeps the cell at resting membrane potential -70 mV.
