Thank you for doing a video about nonfiction! I feel like it’s an underrated book genre. My favourite nonfiction book is “The Matryoshka Memoirs” by Sasha Colby. Thank you for this video, you’ve earned a new sub 😊

Ahhh, another absolute banger from you. I seriously have not experienced so much joy and anticipation from a KZbin channel... perhaps ever! I have hardly read any nonfiction aside from Truman Capote's In Cold Blood, which I completely loved. Your book tastes truly inspire me with new literature possibilities I had not considered before. I am also getting more and more interested in possibly picking up a Krakauer... the unfortunate side of my personality is that I tend to stick to singular "types" of book because I am more comfortable in picking one subject and becoming incredibly knowledgeable in that subject in particular... but the things that you share truly do prompt me to expand my search.

You make me smile--thank you so much! And nooo, not unfortunate! I think it's great to hone in on one particular subject and become proficient in it. I tend to do the same, but as I've gotten older I realize that sometimes my interests change as well.

This video was fun, smart and informative. I discovered some interesting books. Krakauer's books are amazing. Thanks for the shout out to us old people. We used to be you and you will be us. For non-fiction adventure the best read has got to be Endurance by Lansing. This survival story is so mind blowing it is almost unbelievable, but it is true. Also, Man's Search for Meaning by Frankl about a concentration camp or Educated by Westover about leaving the Mormon life. Both very good. Thanks for the non- fiction ideas.

Fun fact: According to a study conducted by Google Books, there have been 129,864,880 books published since the invention of Gutenberg's printing press in 1440. This means that even if a person read two books a day every day for their entire life, they wouldn't come close to reading every book.

My favourites are Smoke gets into your eyes, Say nothing and Nothing holds back the night. I also really enjoyed some celebrity memoirs - especially The Storyteller by Dave Grohl, The Opposite of butterfly hunting by Evanna Lynch and shockingly Paris: The Memoir by Paris Hilton. Then I also love nonfiction about science: for example The God equation by Michio Kaku, The God delusion by Richard Dawkins and Hothouse Earth by Bill McGuire. And many more ofc, these are just on the top of my list.

I loved a couple of Mark Kurlansky's history books, especially Paper: Paging Through History and Salt: A World History. I read Salt when it came out and was amazed that a history book could be so fun to read. I made my siblings read it and they loved it and made their friends read it, too. I read Paper more recently after having done printmaking for a few years so I found it especially interesting, but I think folks not involved in paper arts could still really enjoy it.

Yuval Noah Harari has been seriously criticised for many of the inaccurate conclusions he reaches in his books. His books are famous because they're accessible for the layman, not because they're scientifically robust. He is one of those authors who reaches certain conclusions based on how he either perceives certain facts to be, rudimentary and inconclusive evidence or ideological biases and goes to great unsubstantiated lengths to prove them. There are many principled rebuttals of his unsubstantiated opinions and conclusions held as 'facts' by scientists and those with more knowledge of the subject than him.
