Nostalgia works 110% for me even though I had an SP at the time. And integer scale! That said I remember the games to be better than they are. Only a few are good to play today. Pokémon, WarioLand 4, Invader, some jRPG's...

I completely understand that feeling of looking at the device and not recognizing it as your own! I felt the exact same way when the rg35xxsp came out! Growing up i had the white gba, so this time around im going with the black shell. I cant wait to hold it, i personally love the ergonomics of this gba. Im a little worried about the bezels when playing other consoles on it but I do have an old r353p that has a 4:3 screen just in case. Looking forward to your follow up vid, cheers

You shouldn't worry... the difference from 4:3 to 3:2 (specially at something so small as a 3,4~3,5 inches screen are so meaningless to the point of neglectible if you wanna stretch the image. Also: shouldn't be any news, but knew that many systems took as "4:3" (maybe due a damn Mandela Effect caused by many young peope never have never seen a working CRT and/or the real things other than in theory through "specs sheets" and internet videos") had really more wide or square aspects in their true cores. Capcom arcade system used to not fill the whole area of the arcade screens (when set correctly) due to they being 12:7 - it's REALLY near to the 16:9 we usually have in more common displays nowadays; SEGA MegaDrive/Genesis for some games also took a similar approach with a 10:7 aspect, being squeezed when hook into TVs not well set (i remember having SF2CE for my MD and it adding top and bottom bars in my 14" 90ies TV), as Nintendo NES/Famicom and SNES/Super Famicom used to stretched, sending more squared 16:15 and 8:7 image signals respectively.

This resolution is also pretty good for PSP Emulation too. Games like Prinny 1&2, Exit, Patapon, Brave Story and many other Side-Scrollers and RPGs will be great on this Handheld.

I think the Phawx put it well and in general I share the sentiment. If you are looking for a GBA clone OR a modded classic GBA... Go buy this now. Full stop. It's cheaper AND better than nearly any modded GBA out of the box. IF you want a multi-console emulator under $100? You should be considering the 35xxSP OR the 35xx-H The "SP" is a vertical but foldable for your pocket. The "H" is a horizontal with enough buttons/sticks for everything the chipset can handle.

In fact i believe the 35XXH, as the 40ies and Cube from the same line had more input ways than the systems they can handle well need (and same for the 35, 28 and thiii 34XX depite lacking sticks). Surelly they all can be used as streaming devices and/or controllers for more modern titles - i was messing with my CubeXX this way just yesterday and was... funny... see how the most reccent Switch Zelda adventure works in the square screen -, but anyway... Analog sticks in most PS1 and some N64 & DC, as a few PSP games are just extras and, many times, can even be swaped to a more common crossed dpad. Even 3DS has that analog stick just to pretend most of the time, since the games that relay on that could be played the same way on digital inputs with some thinkering (and maybe this is the word for a emulation matter: "thinkering") You'll only "NEED" analog sticks or some extra buttons to act as then while kepting all the rest untouched when you face platforms as GC, PS2, Xbox and above due to them being, some times, the ones where you have so many inputs and combinations to do all kinds of jugglings and mumbo jumbos thought in the games that enter in a too difficult area kept things simple to play them other way.

Reverse psychology I experience from viewing multiple reviews about the 34XX has allowed me to cherish the XXSP more than I already do. The XXSP is Perfect for GBA. The XXSP plays my psp library well. I am so grateful. So grateful for the XXSP 😁☀️

thats great. im feeling fomo not being able to get the 34xx but then when i think about it my miyoo mini plus is perfect for all the retro handheld gaming i need. when i feel the urge to buy a new handheld i just imagine what my miyoo will be used for and i can only imagine it gathering dust. that makes me sad. so i end up not buying anything new

I might buy one as a GBA fan. I loved the AGB-001 back in 2001, but the original screen was complete trash. Even in the best lighting, the colors were completely washed out.

I would choose this over a modded IPS GBA. The screen is better, can make more ergonomic controls with all the buttons, and has a powerful enough chipset to power through native GBA slowdown. So I would purchase this fully knowing I am only going to use it as a GBA 😂 and I won't feel bad about it because it's a remake of original hardware and beats it in every way even with IPS mod. Only thing that concerns me is the 110hz refresh rate that is making some games studdery.

I'm not going to buy one as I have no nostalgia for the GBA - I returned mine to the store a day after buying it due to the awful screen. However, I do like the fact that Anbernic went for a target with this one, like they did with the Arc.
