Anbernic RG406V Review: The New KING of Vertical Handhelds?

This was a solid review that was equal parts informative and entertaining. Thank you. I'm seriously considering buying this RG406V to replace my current setup of a 2018 vintage flagship phone + telescopic controller. So far I've watched ETA's first look, Stubbs' wonderful video, Russ's deep dive, and now this review. Why? $160 is a lot of money for me to invest in a new toy, so I'm doing research that'll hopefully minimize my chances of making an expensive mistake. Each of you have brought a little something different, a different perspective, that I think is useful. I'm not sure what decision I'm going to make; but, I know it'll be an informed one thanks to you and your fellow tech-tubers. On paper this unit really checks a lot of boxes for me. I like the looks, I like the vertical layout, I like the brand, I like that it has a normal aspect ratio instead of some 1:1 weirdness, I love what I'm hearing about the new sticks, I love that it's Android, and the performance on tap seems to be almost end game for me. I have no interest in Switch emulation and this actively cooled T820 seems to be a nice step up from the uncooled SD845 SoC I'm currently using for PS2 and GameCube. There's so many games that are "almost" there with my current setup that I expect would be all the way there with this unit. In short; there seems to be a lot to like here with the RG406V.

You can adjust the LED brightness in advanced settings , just like the Cube anf the 556

Great review, thanks buddy. It's great to see that they finally moved away from regular switch sticks and are putting better panels in their devices too. I'm looking forward to seeing what else they release with these new features

With Anbernic constantly dropping handhelds, I wish they make a 6 face button version of the RG556 or RG406V. IE the RG Arc Pro/Max/Ultra.

This would be a 100% buy for me, if it wasn’t so ugly and just 5% smaller. I love my RG40XXV and I find the Retroid pocket 4 very uncomfortable. I can’t stop thinking about playing GameCube on a vertical.

Can someone tell me whether or not it comes with games pre-installed? I bought the 256gb standard version straight from anbernic hopefully ill get it in the next few weeks. I cant wait 😅
