WATCH: Ex-SC Chief Justice Sereno raises concerns on Anti-Early Pregnancy Bill | ANC

Soundbytes: Senate Deputy Minority Leader Risa Hontiveros on Wednesday fired back at critics of Senate Bill 1979, or the Prevention of Adolescent Pregnancy Bill. This, after claims circulated on social media that the proposed measure, among others, will teach children as young as 4 years old about childhood masturbation, introduce 6-year-olds to the concept of bodily pleasures through the five senses, and assert that by age 9, children have their own sexual rights. During the press conference, Hontiveros identified the so-called Project Dalisay as responsible for spreading misinformation about the measure. Former Supreme Court Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno, a representative of Project Dalisay, said their group is opposed to some provisions of the bill. She also claimed that the bill runs counter to the constitution.

I like Sen Hontiveros-her courage and dedication to our country-but with all due respect, I strongly DISAGREE with the CSE bill. Instead of sexuality education, why not redirect their efforts toward passing a bill that incorporates Comprehensive FINANCIAL Literacy/Education into school curriculums? It would equip children with the skills to manage their finances, avoid debt, and make wiser financial decisions. This way, even in challenging situations, such as teenage pregnancies, they would have the knowledge to prevent financial hardship. By achieving financial stability, they could provide their children with a quality education, ensuring those children would not grow up to be "bobotante" and would have a brighter future. Also, this Comprehensive Financial Literacy curriculum could include strategies to help students understand that early pregnancies can be a poor financial decision, due to budgeting challenges and other financial difficulties that come with it. Make this subject one of the core subjects, alongside Math, English, and Science.

Nobody is refuting the alarming situation of teenage pregnancy. Sen Risa's camp is missing the point. What Sereno is saying are the means and ways of tackling the problem in Bill 1979 which should be reviewed and reconsidered, particularly the hidden fineprints of the cited International Laws, which are contrary to the constitution and the Filipino culture.

That bill will let Education teach children how to control pregnancy based on international practice. WHO and UNesco said, Ang Bata from K-12(kinder to Grade 12) gang paglaki may right na magsalsal or gagamit ng contraceptives and condoms para maiwasan Ang early pregnancy.. Pakinggan m nalang yang explanation ng attorney..wag ung title lang pakinggan po.
