The sprouting mentioned on the Winged Greathorn is talking about the budding horns that would appear on creatures that don't naturally have them (proto-omens maybe). They revered this as a holy sign, perhaps because the crucible was big enchilada back then. Still, it would suck to be like, "dang, no abnormal growths on my 16th bday, guess I'll get sacrificed to some horns on a stick."

Fun Fact: Rot/decay versions of these enemies were originally meant to be present in the Grand Cloister (that area after the Lake of Rot and before Astel), but they ended up being unused in the end.

I am thankful FromSoft decided to remove them. Because, in the Convergence mod, they decided to put the archers in the lake of rot along with the Servants of Rot. It is horrible.

People shit talk malenia's artificial difficulty from her healing but then will praise and praise a mod that makes the enemies have way more health and removes all of the "cheese"

@@HoliestOfCows I wouldn't say that convergence makes the game harder. It just makes it different. Sure the enemies have more health, but if you know what you're doing that doesn't matter all too much because you're dealing more damage due to the stuff they give you. There is literally a spell from the ancestor followers path that straight up takes 15% of health from the boss and then gives it back 3 seconds later. It's effectively 15% less health on bosses.

I think some people's brains have been rotted by weapons like Dark Moon Greatsword and Bloodhound Fang, to where if they can't do bosses blindfolded with a weapon it's "bad" Aside from something like Varre's bouquet.... every weapon is at minimum viable.

Even Varre’s Bouquet is useable, if you just want bleed. On a 60 ARC build, you get 133 bleed, and adding blood grease (remember it can be buffed) adds an addional 62 bleed, for 195 total bleed, on a fairly fast weapon.

Less effective, sure. But no weapon is as bad as the Ancestral Infant Head, and even that "can" kill boses.

Amazing set. Wearing it now until I get to another set I want to equip. Get a dagger with a "step" Ash for the teleport and you've got a full build. Add Greathelm for style. Too bad they don't have a unique weapon and we can't use anything that gives Deathblight besides the Eclipse Shotel.

there's a bit more to the horn born's synergy with magic arrows than what's on the surface: a bow's scaling ar is determined by the base ar of both the bow _and_ the arrow, so the horn bow not only pushes magic arrows' magic damage a bit further with its own, but it also allows that damage to scale 'course, this is several degrees more applicable to the erdtree bow with holy arrows because the horn bow has permanent _e_ scaling with int, and even those faith-pumped holy arrows aren't gonna be swinging above their weight class, but it's a fun detail that gets _extremely_ funny when applied to the serpent bow and poison because even with only d arcane scaling, it cheats with a unique scaling graph for _specifically_ poison buildup which means you get like 205 buildup per arrow at only 40 arcane and then its aow has a 170 status mv, just in case your target has deluded itself into thinking there's any resistance to poison between "none" and "immune"

So here's a fun suggestion, the Spectral Lance ash of war. It hurls a projectile that scales with Arcane, but I think also carries over status effects from the weapon? Not a lot of damage, but great stance pressure, a small bit of tracking, and good reach that increases with the Arrow's Reach talisman. Damage doesn't go up with the other bow talisman, though. Don't know why. Anyway, I used it on the Guardian Swordspear, paired it with The Boys to hold aggro, and it's been pretty fun so far. It's one of the builds I'm prepping to take into the dlc.

the horn bow can actually deal some of the highest single attack damage in the game, combine the spellblade armor + terra magicka + magic tear + all damage buffing talismans + rain of arrows and if you REALLY want more damage you can use weapon skill buffs like the epitaph or standard and white mask/mushroom crown
